The Big House is not on ABC's just announced fall sked. 8 Simple Rules and George Lopez are changing nights, they're adding a new sitcom produced by Mel Gibson on Friday. Unfortunately, Big House won't be coming back.

I have two episodes on tape. I was going to tape over them but now that it's cancelled, maybe I'll keep them.

I recorded all six. I sort of had a feeling that would be all there is, so I figured years from now if I ever wanted to see that old show "The Big House" at least I got all the episodes.

I was right that this one wasn't going to last more than six shows on ABC. Makes me wonder why they even bothered putting it on at all. The lead guy Kevin Hart is probably going to springboard into other things though. He could do another series maybe on UPN or WB. He's often compared to Chris Tucker who is not at all suited for a tv series. Tucker would have to tone down his energy level too much for a tv series. Hart an executive producer on this show which is not too shabby for a guy who isn't even 25 yet.

I 've heard of the comparisons to Chris Tucker but don't see them! Yeah they're both dark with squeeky voices that's it!

Well, just because it's not on the fall sked doesn't necessarily mean that it has been canceled. It could, possibly, be a mid-season replacement (though second-year shows that return only as a mid-season replacement rarely survive, anyways). I haven't actually heard anything official on this show, one way or another, other than the fact that it didn't crack the fall lineup.

I never used the word canceled, I clearly said it wasn't on the fall schedule, but no matter now, it is canceled.

Aside from Monk and L.A. Dragnet, The Big House was ABC's lowest rated regular series of the 2003-2004 season. It had an average of 5.7 million viewers and ranked #110 out of 162 seasons among the 6 networks.

Well, having only 6 episodes at the end of the year doesn't help.
Shows rank much higher in the fall than in the spring (aside from Finales)

I really enjoyed The Big House.... but now I'm kicking myself for not recording it.
