BASKIN-ROBBINS TO HOLD 5TH ANNUAL ’FREE SCOOP NIGHT’ Teri Polo, star of ABC's "I'm With Her" and the highly anticipated film "Meet the Fockers," serves scoops of ice cream to children from First Book in preparation for Baskin-Robbins' fifth annual "Free Scoop Night" event at participating stores on Wednesday, April 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. In celebration of the event, Baskin-Robbins will give back to the community by making a donation to First Book, a national nonprofit children's literacy organization. Fifth Annual Event Serves Up Free Scoops for Children's Literacy RANDOLPH, Mass., April 15 -- Baskin-Robbins today announced that Teri Polo, star of the ABC-hit series "I'm With Her" and the much-anticipated sequel to "Meet the Parents," "Meet the Fockers," will lend her support for the fifth annual "Free Scoop Night" event on Wednesday, April 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. that supports children's literacy. More than 200 scoops per second are expected to be given out as an anticipated 3 million consumers stop by participating Baskin-Robbins ice cream stores nationwide to enjoy a free scoop of their favorite flavor of ice cream. In celebration of Free Scoop Night, Baskin-Robbins will give back to the community by making a donation to First Book, a national nonprofit organization that provides free, new books to children from low-income families. Over the past four years, Baskin-Robbins' Free Scoop Night contributions have supported First Book's distribution of more than one million new books to children nationwide. Teri Polo will help increase those numbers by making a personal donation of 5,000 new books to First Book along with lending her flavorful energy to raise awareness of the importance of reading and the work of First Book. "As a mother, I understand the importance of literacy and that's why I'm thrilled to team up with Baskin-Robbins for their fifth annual Free Scoop Night event supporting First Book," said Teri Polo. "Free Scoop Night combines fun and flavor to help children from low-income families get new books." "We are excited that Teri has come on board to lend her support for Free Scoop Night and First Book," said Ken Kimmel, concept officer, Baskin-Robbins. "This annual event brings together family and friends and is a wonderful way to highlight the importance of reading." You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents. |
