Patrick is elated when Alex invites him to spend a weekend with her at a luxurious hotel for a press junket to promote her new film. But after an encounter with some of the other stars' boyfriends, Patrick begins to feel like he may be losing his identity and becoming a kept man to the famous actress. Meanwhile, Stevie does what he can to help console an ever-depressed Cheri, who feels like a failure compared to Alex and her glamorous accomplishments.

I agree. those two other guys who dated movie stars were really funny. The Mitchster made me laugh. Then at the end when Stevie came in and said "do it up" that was great.

A step back in my opinion, but still a good episode. It just took awhile for the laughs to get going. Highlight was Stevies "inspirational" speech to Cheri about what a role model she is to him.

Not the best episode but it was still good. It's starting to struggle in the ratings without the "8SR" lead in.... so keep watching it!

Danny Comden is soooo f-ing funny. All that stuff with him and Cheri was hilarious. Less Cheese and more comedy please.

This was the first "I'm With Her" episode I saw, and watching David Sutcliffe and Teri Polo as Patrick and Alex certainly left me wanting more. Not a great episode comedy-wise but okay. Patirck's "giant obsession" didn't seem so funny, but Stevie's "inspirational" speech was! How do they come up with characters like this?
As for the ratings. . . .Now that "I'm With Her" will definitely be on through May, that should give it enough time to stand on its own. I don't see a problem there. Thumbs up! |

Just saw this episode and it was a very solid outing. Not in the class of "The Musical" but better than episodes like "The Heartbreak Kid" or "The Peck-Peck".
The scenes with Stevie and Cherie were excellent and the first half of the press thing was cool. On the downside I thought the second half of the Alex/Patrick storyline got more serious than it should have been....I really wish Patrick would stop acting like such a Pus sometimes. He really overreacted to what the other boyfriends were saying IMO. Overall a better than average episode with the Cherie/Stevie relationship putting it over the top. 7 out of 10 stars. |

I completely forgot about Stevie's speech to Cheri. That was one of my favorite moments of the year. Thanks for reminding me.

Had this episode been one of the newest, had it happened in current times, six months after they first met, I would probably agree that Patrick could be more confident in his relationship with Alex. He's gotten to know her, and he knows that his happiness is important to her, that he can remain true to himself. But his reaction to the other boyfriends made sense to me in the context of that time and that stage of their relationship. Just my thoughts.
