Post Will N@N experience an identity crisis?

It's no secret that N@N is attempting to reinvent their image by bringing newer shows into the line up (Family Ties & Cheers this fall and Cosby show next spring, followed by Roseanne). Does anybody see the conflict brewing in the horizon between the more serious themes of these 80's shows and N@N's current programming policy of not airing "controversial" topics/themes? Unless N@N begins to air the more serious/controversial themes, N@N's transition to the new classics will flop. Applying 1950's level of censorship to 1980's shows doesn't work well.

I really don't think "Roseanne" is going to N@N. I'd think prob. TNN.

Hope it doesn't. But I saw that it will in 2003, on Oxygen in the daytime and nights on Nick at Nite.

i agree, i mean if they can't air the FOL when the girls shoplift, then how are they going to air the Roseanne when dan and rosie find thier own pot and blame it on david? and hello, cheers is set in a bar!

I personally think N@N will experience an "identity crisis" by airing those shows of the 1980s (which I do not care for at all). Personally I think "The Brady Bunch," "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley," and "The Wonder Years" all made N@N a great network.

And HD and L&S spent a lot of their run in the 80s! (HD=4,LS=3)

Even though some of these shows were filmed in the 80's, they depicted other eras that gave a sense of nostalgia which James alluded to.

Oops, "The Wonder Years" is an exception!!! Even though it ran from 1988-1993 I tend to think it took place from 1968-1973 (just a year shy of the range of "The Brady Bunch"). The fact that it was about the late 1960s and early 1970s made it a good part of the Nick at Nite lineup IMHO.

I hope that clears up everything!

You are right about that James. Someone did mention earlier that NAN did not a air the shoplifting episode. They did quite a few times.
