ABC's "I'm With Her" uses a Sugar Ray version of the Joe Jackson rock staple "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"

Gosh, I remember when that Joe Jackson record first came out. . . . I was fourteen! I had a little trouble getting hip to the light reggae in the verses suddenly truning into power pop for the choruses. It's a great song, though, and an appropriate theme song for "I'm With Her." Say, when Alex and Patrick have their inevitable first fight, do you suppose the producers will use Joe Jackson's "Breaking Us In Two" as the background music? (Yeah, that would be an original idea. . . .)

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents.
