No, "Day by Day," not "Step by Step." It was ran on NBC for two seasons from 88-89. Father Doug Sheehan (TV's Cluesless) and mother Linda Kelsey felt that they were missing out on watching their kids grow up. With the arrival of a new son, they decided to quit their jobs and run a daycare center from their home. C.B. Barnes (Greg Brady from the two big-screen Brady Bunch films) was their slacker son who lusted after mom and dad's daycare assistant, Courtney Thorne-Smith (Melrose Place). Julia Louis Dreyfus played the next-door-neighbor and Sheehan's former business partner, who often dropped in to be the butt of "children are so annoying" jokes.

Default Thora Birch

Don't forget that Thora Birch played one of the pre-school children at the school, many years before AMERICAN BEAUTY.

Day by Day was a pretty cruddy show. It even did a crossover with Family Ties.

Ooh, but do you guys remember the episode where the main characters' son Ross (played by Christopher Daniel Barnes) falls asleep while watching "The Brady Bunch" and dreams that he's the Brady's long lost other child Chuck Brady? They re-created the Brady living room set, and had the "Day By Day" parents play Mike and Carol Brady, and Maureen McCormick made a guest appearance as a very pregnant Marcia. It was a hoot! It was even funnier when, a few years later, Christopher Daniel Barnes was cast as Greg Brady in "The Brady Bunch Movie".
