Actually she didn't go to college. She went to work at a Newspaper.Robert Klein played her Lou Grant-like boss.I actually really liked that show.It was better than the original IMO.Sadly, that one episode is the only episode.

This is the first I heard of a spinoff- I thought Clarissa was one of the better teen sitcoms- IMO better than Sabrina. Clarissa was good, till Ferguson got older in it and became even more of an annoying twat. (I've heard a hundred jokes abotu the little tune that plays when sam climbs up the ladder- daw-ooh-wow)

was it really a spinoff? i thought it was the series finale, a wrap-up episode to show what clarissa would do in the future. i remember watching it and enjoying it, in any case.

Nope.It was a spinoff well a spinoff attempt anyway. There was a different opening theme, new cast members, etc.

how come it only lasted like 1 ep?

Oh btw, on some Nickelodeon board, this Clarissa spinoff was voted 2nd place on "The Most Mysterious Occurences in Classic Nick History"

The 1st place was "why All That suddenly stopped for a year or 2"

I think it was just sort of an unsold pilot that just found itself airing. That actually happened alot back in the 70's and 80's.It actually aired during the 2nd annual "Big Help".Nick showed another unsold sitcom pilot (although I forgot what it was called. It was about this orphaned black girl in NYC) that aired a year later during "The Big Help".Nick used to use that to burn off whatever they hadn't aired.I wonder if they did that this year with the "Finish Line Festival" which is basically "The Big Help" only dumbed down.

Anyway, I seem to remember the show being too mature for Nick. The humor was more like MTM or Murphy Brown (Heck, Faith Ford even appeared in a cameo, obviously playing Corky Sherwood!) then Nick's other sitcoms (namely the original "Clarissa", a family sitcom and the juvenile "Salute Your Shorts" and "Welcome Freshmen") and unlike Nick's only other workplace comedy ("Hey Dude"), "Clarissa Now" didn't feature any young characters (Well Clarissa I guess but that's it.Every other character was between the ages of 35 and 60).The show had your normal old Workplace comedy cliches though. There was the grumpy Lou Grant-like boss (played by Robert Klein), a best friend (some 60-something lady), the obnoxious guy, the love interest and the black girl.It was a good show though and it could have become a hit. But, of course, We'll never know but we might see the pilot again someday.
