"This Case is Closed" (The Rockford Files)
Airdate: Oct. 18, 1974
Written by: Stephen J. Cannell
& John Thomas James (Roy Huggins)
Rockford (James Garner) is tasked with looking into the background of a socialite's (Sharon Gless) finance. But his digging gets him in trouble with the mob, the cops, the FBI, and even other private eyes.
This episode sparked a controversy when Glen A. Larson (Magnum, pi, Battlestar Galactica) copied the story (and even some of the dialogue) for an episode of his show Switch (starring Robert Wagner) called "Death by Resurrection." Though fined by the WGA, Garner decided to teach Larson a lesson on the backlot at Universal.
