yea, The Velvet Rope and Rhythm Nation 1814 was real "untalented" albums :::rolls eyes::: Both were great "concept" albums that ran the musical gamut

she's not a great vocalist and she relies WAY too much on sex (which I find funny how she used to publically criticize Madonna in the early 90's... look at Janet in the past decade), but she IS a good artist. Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope are two of the best "pop" albums of the past 15 years IMO.

I'm 14, I've been around for little of her career. I'm basing that statement on the fact that she sounds the same in every song, she doesn't have much vocal talent, and she relies a LOT on sex.

She's still hot now, but she was prettiest during the Janet era, when she didn't seem to try so hard to be sexy.

You are most likely talking about the videos from that album, such as, "That's The Way Love Goes, If, Again, Whoops Now, Anytime, Anyplace, and You Want This.

I agree that she relies way too much on sex, and isn't a great vocalist, but I do think she is a better songwriter than some people want to credit her for. Her last album (All For You) was her worst ever, but I still listen to Velvet Rope on a regular occasion. She really surprised me with that album.

Just a quick question:

How is she a "good artist" if she's "not a great vocalist"? What exactly can she do? Singing is her job...if she's not good at it, why in the world is she famous?

Well, she writes all of her songs, co-produces all of her music. She can dance her a$$ off, and has a unique voice. Just because she doesn't belt like Whitney or Mariah doesn't mean she's not a good vocalist.

Oh, okay. I didn't know she wrote her own music. I did know that she can dance her a$$ off, though. :D It seems that people worship her, and I just didn't get why.

ever heard of Bob Dylan or Yoko Ono? Most people can agree they have talent, but at the same time also admitting they can't sing

I own a CD called Control by Janet Jackson. But, they didn't put one of the greatest songs as a single. It is called "You Can Be Mine". They did put a boring song called "When I Think Of You" which could have been replaced by "You Can Be Mine." The only reason they didn't put YCBM is because they didn't want to overplay Janet, which really wouldn't have made much of a difference. Six videos and singles compared to seven videos and singles. Rhythm Nation had seven videos and no one cared about that. :-( Is there any chance of them making You Can Be Mine a single in these years? Because it was supposed to have been a single.

I own Janet, but have to keep it in a secret place because the sex songs are too much for my little sisters to hear. So I now own Rhythm Nation, Control, and Janet. My goal is to get every one of her albums! 3 down, 6 to go. (Design of A Decade, Dream Street, Janet Jackson, Velvet Rope, All For You, Damita Jo. ):)

No. You Can Be Mine was a song from an album in 1986, there'd be no reason to release that as a single now. Anyway Janet's current label, Virgin, might block A&M from releasing a Janet single. As for the greatest hits cd, it wouldn't be smart to leave off a number one single (When I Think of You) for an album track.

Who owns "Janet?" Because the reviews I have read for that album say that there is a song called "Whoops Now", which comes right after "Sweet Dreams" but on my cassette, all I hear is "Sweet Dreams" and then the tape is done. Was I ripped off? Where is that extra song?(:-(.

Now, I got "All For You"! I have 5 more to go. I don't like the song "Truth" too much, because it is not a very good song and on top of that, it is over 6 minutes long!! The songs that should have become hit singles(many people agree) are You Ain't Right, Trust A Try, Come On Get Up, Better days, Feels So Right

I was one of the people who picked Penny. It's the only time I liked her. Once she grew up she became a phony Jackson.
