i was thinking, it seems like everyone hates all the popular kids in my school. so how are they popular?

Because all the popular kids only think they're popular. Truth is, everyone hates them, because most of the time, they're all stuck up, snotty, hateful people.

It's not always cheerleaders, really, I think that's just a stereotype. Lots of the cheerleads at my school are fat and have unibrows :lol: Lots of the people just think they're cool because they're rich and can afford all these nice clothes and crap. But it's true, a lot of the people who are considered to be "popular" just bitch a lot of the time. :o

Yup. Most of the "popular" kids in my school live in a place called The Summit, which is neighborhood with huge expensize houses. And most of their fathers are either lawyers or doctors who will but their daughters anything they ask for. :grr: So basically, they're spoiled brats.

I know how you feel. The guidence counsler sent these girls over to me at lunch once [because I usually sit by myself and don't talk to anyone] and made them talk to me. It was so stupid. If I want to talk to someone, I'll get up and do it myself. And yesterday, this kid kept iming and saying "why aren't you out with your friends?" Jerk.

I sit with friends at lunch, but they're kind of juust aquaintences, really. I don't even talk to them all that much. It's my fault, too, because it's so hard for me to talk to people. Once in science these girls were saying how you couldn't get a word out of me...not to be mean or anything, but you can't. :lol: Taking prozac for that but it only helps slightly...

that is so ****ing stupid. i would have chewed out the counselor. if anyone at my school talks to me that isnt my friend or brother, i just stare at them or respond with one syllable. i always stay as far away as i can from them and refuse to work in teams.

thats how i am with most of my friends. i sit at their table and just kind of listen to them. for one thing theyve hurt me alot in the past, thats why i just like 2 of them because they were the only ones not involved.

Popular people need to die.

Always had trouble with them. I have always been kind of quiet and anti social, a loner of sorts. Sure, I would talk to a few people here and there and had a few good friends, but overall, I have always been pretty much on my own. Got teased for it pretty badly.

Popular people exist to step on the unpopular people like myself. We are **** on the bottoms of their expensive shoes.

I don't think the so-called "popular" people are a big issue in our school. Most of them are in honors classes and since everyone in honors all have pretty much the same classes, we're used to each other and no one's really mean to anyone else. The other "popular" ones who aren't in honors, who none of us really associate with anyway, are dumb as bricks and no one wants to be like them in the first place.

I found that once high school started, there wasnt such a group considered to be "popular", it seems like everyone has their groups, and people have friends in all different groups...I am not trying to have my town come off as a nice, like harmonizing community, because its not and there are plenty of people who dont like one another, but there isnt like what you see in the tv shows of the sterotypical popular crowd, like I have my friends and we are normal I guess, some are sketchy, but I am friendly with people in other groups and same with lots of kids in my grade

I was like so totally popular in high school, now I'm like working my way up the social class at USC, yeah. :cool:

I think that's how it is everywhere, but I think that people consider the bitchy, rich people to be the popular ones because they basically have everything...

It is stupid, though, how they always have it like that on tv..."popular" kids don't really tease the "unpopular" kids too much, they just walk around like they're hot **** is all. Probably talk about people behind their backs, too, but not right at them like they show on tv.

I'm not exactly popular, but somewhere in the middle. Sometimes, though, it's the "unpopular" kids that make me mad. :mad:

A lot of the popular girls in my school try to be nice, and those who aren't so popular get all offended for some reason. It's unfair stereotyping, and it really pisses me off sometimes. There are a lot of popular kids that I'd be friends with if we weren't in such different groups, but my friends wouldn't even consider it. It gets really aggravating hearing them bitch about kids who never did a thing to them. :mumble:

i have a lot of trouble making friends. there are nice popular people who talk to me some, and i want to be friends with them but since i dont know them that well i never know what to say to them. every year there are people who try to be friends with me but like i said i dont know what to say to them so they just kind of give up on me. i wish i could be friends with some of them cause the friend i have now are pretty crappy.

well it doesnt really bother me if someone has nice clothes. it bothers me when people brag about having lots of clothes. like on the first day of school i was talking to a friend and she was like i have 25 shirts and 15 pairs of pants. i wanted to kill her cause i had like 8 shirts and 6 pairs of pants.

I guess I sort of have to agree there...but it does get annoying after awhile when people have to name other people as something else, mainly when they don't even know them. We're all different so I don't get how labels can perfectly describe everyone. And people don't need to go around saying who they think other people are.

If the younger people listen to me than that's their own fault. They don't have to take what I say as their own. They are perfectly capable of forming their own thoughts and feelings.

Its not exaclty grouping people into categories. just a kind of person they are. i dont see how its any different than saying one person is cool, another person isnt cool, etc. a punk is someone who rebels against conformity, trends etc and is just themselves, so if that applies to you, whats wrong with saying youre a punk? its not like they all get separated and put into cages.

People always do that to me, too. "Why don't you ever talk?", "You're never going to get a word out of that girl" Jesus, maybe I have nothing to effing say. I don't like to talk in school, too many people at once. I talk to the few friends that I have, that's good enough for me. I just laugh or make a weird face if someone tries to talk to me because I don't know what the hell to say.

Sure, but maybe moreso aquaitances than friends. But up until last year I had this one friend who I only talked to in school and occasionally online and I thought I would never hang out with her outside of school but now she is my "sister."
