FRASIER NEEDS A NANNY;
LAURIE METCALF GUEST STARS --

When Roz (Peri Gilpin) finds out that Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) was once married to child entertainer Nanny G (guest star Laurie Metcalf, "Roseanne"), she begs him to get tickets to the performer's sold out concert for her daughter Alice (Ashley Thomas). The tickets are granted and although Nanny G is remarried, Frasier and his ex-wife must fight off a physical attraction that still exists between them. John Mahoney, Jane Leeves, and David Hyde Pierce also star. TV-PG

Laurie Metcalf... that name sounds so familiar....

Is Nanny G supposed to be the same woman that was his hippy first wife(wasn't her name Nannette?) that we saw in "Don Juan in Hell part 2"? Oh, and Laurie Metcalf played Jackie on Roseanne.

This isn't the right Nanny G. Laurie Metcalf did not play her on "Cheers"..it's kinda dissapointing that it wont be the same person...at least I don't think it will be the same person... anyone wanna check? Because I thought Emma Thompson played her on "Cheers?"

That Emma Thompson played her on Cheers, or that Laurie Metcalf is playing her on Frasier?

Emma Thompson played the character wonderfully. However, I'm willing to give Metcalf a shot. She was pretty good on Roseanne and the Norm Show.

I would've liked the original actress back.... but bringing back Nanny G is good either way.

And if the advertisement on NBC.com about "A Frasier Wedding Proposal in February"
Then you could probably bet that Martin will propose to Ronee on this episode.

The thing I'm worried about is it looks like Frasier is going to wind up alone.

I just caught last night's episode on tape.

Laurie Metcalf was great. She needs to get a new sitcom.

I agree, great episode. Laurie was very funny.

I liked the line when she said "Do you have ANY idea what it's like to play the same character for 20 YEARS?"

heehee :)

He still has at least one more love interest coming up--maybe this'll be the one. . .

I couldn't believe on the VH1 special when they said that fans would be upset if the two of them ended up together. SOME fans would--definitely not all of us though. Lilith still has her following! ;)

I thought Lilleth was too stiff, too urbane, too buttoned down, too cold
I hope he ends with that Peri Gillepin's character

I did like this episode, but didn't you think it was strange that in the 11 years Frasier and Roz have known each other it never came up once that he had been married to Nanny G? Even after he told her, she didn't even seem surprised.

I dont think he'd ever bother telling Roz....
I mean.... he never told Lilith!

"You know me so well!"

I agree that he probably didn't bother telling her--and she probably wasn't too surprised b/c her mind was so focused on getting those tickets.

haha.
Ria is the ULTIMATE frith.

And really, as "Frasier" has gone on.... they really dont need to explain much to eachother.
Explaining just causes them more trouble.

God, I want to see the episode where Frasier fakes being Jewish, and Niles is dressed as Jesus.
And then Frasier shouts out "JESUS!!"

Thats what I loved about Frasier.... there was ALWAYS a Christmas episode.

Im not sure if there was one every season.... but it has more than any other sitcom I know of.

Most shows only have 1, and then they reair it every year at Christmas time.

You know, I always thought Niles looked more like Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson than Jesus. All he needed was a flute in his hand!

This was a hilarious episode, by the way, but I was disappointed that Frasier and Nanaette didn't, couldn't, wouldn't get back together. I hoped "Frasier" would end with our hero finding true love at last, but it looks like the good doctor is condemned like Marley's ghost to forever walk through the afterworld of syndication repeatedly being unlucky at love. :(

maybe not, ther's always the finale. (which will obviously be 1 hour).

After all, who would have expected Martin to get engaged? (tthat happened on the 3/2 episode, in case you missed it)
