in the photos section, there is a picture labelled "Naomi's wig." I didn't know she wore a wig. Why would she have to wear a wig?!

That would be me who posted it.

What I am thinking is Dorothy most likely had short hair during the time she was on MF. I didn't think it was a wig, either, since Dorothy's hair matches her wig VERY closely in real life. If Dorothy had had long hair, it would have been pretty hard to style it exactly the way Naomi always had her hair on the show.

Again...Just a guess. :)

Dorothy has very fine, thin hair. I didn't realize she wore wigs even back in the NBC years until my sister pointed it out (girls are better at that than boys, lol). She can tell where her real hair is under some of the earlier wigs, whereas I think the horrible syndicated wigs covered it all up.

Wait... Did she ever have her normal hair on the show? Its so unnatural for them to make her wear wigs. Its not like her hair was important to her character, like say Peg Bundy who Katey Segal had to wear a wig for.

Yep...I think she had ponytail extensions in the NBC years, because I noticed in one episode that Naomi's ponytail is almost falling off...It was like that in a few others too. :o

No, she always had wigs on. I think it was important to her character as Naomi flaunted every feminine attribute she had, and "big, sexy hair" was definitely somethin' she tried for (just look at the several different styles she had in the NBC years).

If they'd gone with her natural shorter, fine, thin hair, it just wouldn't've been the same; not as "floozyish", lol.

I wonder if that was her normal hair in the scene where she takes Iola's place in "I Do, I Don't."

Here is a recent pic of Dorothy that I found. Definitely not our "Naomi".! As you can see she absolutely had to wear wigs to get the sexy Naomi look!

Aw, there's that Naomi smile! :D

Hmm, that brings up another question....In almost every guest star role I saw her in after MF, she wore glasses...Makes me wonder if she didn't have to wear glasses back when she was on MF or if she wore contacts?

Have you guys checked out the Ebay auction of Naomi's black taffeta dress? The link is on top of this page "Mama's Family Worn Dress Must See". Here is a shot from a scene where she is wearing the dress in the episode about Mama's funeral dream.

I'd love to have it too! But it's $159, money I don't have. :(

I'd love one of Mama's dresses, though. Preferably her pink dress she always wears.

Well, on her "Hope & Gloria" appearance, she didn't wear glasses. :)

She didn't on the MF reunion special of "Vicki!", either---actually, I've never seen her wear glasses!

There was another guest star role she made on "The Nanny" where she starred as a director...She had on glasses then.

99. The Heather Biblow Story
gs: Pamela Anderson (Heather Biblow Imperiali) Peter Bergman (Himself) Richard Kline (Himself / Guard) Jeanne Cooper (Herself) Shemar Moore (Himself) Joshua Morrow (Himself) Melody Thomas Scott (Herself) Barbara Crampton (Herself) Hunter Tylo (Herself) Roslyn Kern (Mr. Moonve's assistant) Steve Posner (Stage Manager) Les Moonves (Himself) Dorothy Lyman (Director)

Fran is shocked to learn that her biggest rival, Heather Biblow (who stole her fiancé and her job) is starring on her favorite soap opera, "The Young and the Restless". Heather invites Fran and Val over to her Malibu beach house, where she can rub it on their faces how successful she is. Fran and Val visit the studios, where they run across some of their favorite celebrities. Heather has a really hard time memorizing the lines, and Fran doesn't think twice before jumping at the chance of finally stealing something from Heather: her daytime TV job. Fran is hired to replace her, and calls the mansion saying she won't return. C.C. is happy at first, but quickly realizes she needs Ms. Fine back when Maxwell hires a new nanny: Heather Biblow. Fran is so upset with the thought of Heather in the house that she is fired from the show and returns to NY to get her job back.

Did she have glasses on when she did her guest appearance on Reba? I don't remember.

I just watched 1993's "Ruby In Paradise" where Dorothy plays a dramatic part of Ashley's Judds boss. She has her own hair in this movie which was about shoulder length I would guess(she wore it up through the movie) at the time (10 years ago!). Her hair was obviously styled by a stylist but it looked good! I tried to find a photo of her in this film but no luck!
Anyway, if you haven't seen this film ,rent it! It is very good. I think that this was Ashley's first film. It won the Sundance film festival award in 1993. Ashley is so young and so pretty! And Dorothy looks good too!:)

Here is a pic of Dorothy that I found on Ebay. It is a Cleveland TV Magazine cover from 1983. This is her real hair!:happyface

I think Naomi directed many episodes of "The Nanny." Many times when I happened to be watching the credits would say: Directed by Dorothy Lyman.

Kind of but it was different. (A woman can tell the difference);)

Yep, correct! Plus...Naomi had a lot of hair for her bangs in the front, & in that picture PL posted, she barely has any bangs at all. ;)

Good for you! My husband would never notice anything like that!
I was just generalizing. You are correct. Dorothy's hair is much too fine and thin to have been done up that way!

I sure hope that if Dorothy happens to see this thread that she would not be offended by the way we are discussing her!
