Mr. Stefani 01-31-2004, 02:58 PM Why does their race matter? Lots of actors don't get enough credit.
Dean Winchester 01-31-2004, 04:02 PM of that list, I'd say Lawrence Fishburne, Mekhi Pfeiffer (hell, Eminem referenced him in a song, even tho he COULD'VE used Denzel or someone bigger) and Danny Glover (not so much nowadays, but 10-15 years ago, he was big) get respect in Hollywood.
I also agree with Nirvana, there's plenty of white actors who never get their due either
I am Him 01-31-2004, 06:39 PM I prefer
Morgan Freeman
Wesley Snipes
Larry Fishborn
James Earl Jones
Short Circus 01-31-2004, 06:42 PM I believe Don Cheadle is well respected in the industry.

I agree. Look at Graham Greene. He's an Oneida Indian from the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada, and he hardly gets any credit at all in Hollywood.
I don't really think we should classify anyone by race (check out the political boards if you REALLY want to know why...) but I think a very under-rated actor is Ernie Hudson. He so should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE. He was amazing in that movie.

Okay, you just named three of the most popular and most respected African American actors out there. Okay

I agree. This list looks like "every black actor who isn't as big as Denzel, Eddie or Cuba".
That'd be like someone coming out with a list of white actors, and list everyone except for Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson and Jim Carrey. Most of the people he listed are character actors, and most of them get respect for what they do. People like Don Cheadle and Ving Rhames are the African-American versions of Steve Buscemi.
Rhiannon 01-31-2004, 11:10 PM What is Charles Dutton from? I've heard that name

isiahthomas 02-02-2004, 01:45 PM Charles S Dutton was in Seven with Morgan Freeman & Brad Pitt? Charles directed a new movie with Omar Epps & Meg Ryan called Against The Ropes. It's coming out this month. Charles is in it also & he directed some of the movie in my hometown Cleveland, Ohio.

I know, when I think of Charles S. Dutton, Alien 3 is the first thing I think of, I love those movies
jsizzle 02-06-2004, 10:19 PM How about most of them. Although some of the things our people make is not worth watching(sometimes). Hollywood is too stereotyped anyway.
Yea there are lots of actors in general who don't get what they deserve, but the majority are black.

Epps, Diggs, Underwood, Rhames, Lindo, Hasbert, Nunn, Cheadle, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Queen Latifa, Cuba Gooding Jr are doing very well!! The one actor you forgot I think should had deserved much more roles is Louis Gossett Jr. He won for Supporting Actor in "An Officer & A Gentleman" and he got stuck with crap like the Iron Eagle movies. He deserved much more better!!
Jrnygrl 02-16-2004, 05:27 PM Charles S. Dutton also starred in his own series on Fox called "Roc" which was a very good show.
Brian Damage 02-17-2004, 11:55 AM One name...Pam Grier!
isiahthomas 02-17-2004, 12:29 PM Pam Grier is a good actress & a sexy & cute one at that. She's made bad choices the last few yrs in the movies she's been in such as Ghosts Of Mars with Ice Cube & Bones with Snoop Dogg. She now plays on the Showtime network show The L Word. The show is about lesbians. I'm surprised she's playing on a show like that. I haven't watched it because i don't have Showtime. I've seen her on Law & Order Criminal Intent a few times. She's gotten fat.
Brian Damage 02-17-2004, 12:31 PM I think she's still sexy.
isiahthomas 02-17-2004, 12:52 PM Have u seen her on The L Word show yet Brian? Jennifer Beals is also on that show.
Brian Damage 02-17-2004, 12:54 PM No I haven't.
