View Full Version : Betty Cash, Vicki & Colby Landrum UFO
crystaldawn 01-30-2004, 01:53 PM I'm not a big fan of UM's UFO cases but the case of Betty Cash, Vicki & Colby Landrum has always interested me. They just showed it a few nights ago. I was doing some research about it and for those of you that don't know, Betty Cash died in 1999 from what they said was "multiple cancer related health complications". The eerie part is she died on the 18th anniversary of their unknown encounter! I don't what the government's is trying to cover up, but I feel sorry for these people because they clearly did suffer from radiation poisoning. Any thoughts?
UMfan77 01-30-2004, 05:26 PM That's so sad that Betty Cash died, I wonder how the little boy is doing. The doctor in the segment referenced that Colby can't have children as a result of the radiation from the UFO. I'm pretty convinced that these people weren't making up the UFO story because they all got very sick right after the sighting. That story will probably never be solved.
crystaldawn 01-30-2004, 07:21 PM The only thing it said about Vicki and Colby Landrum is that they were both still alive.
Composite Sketch 01-30-2004, 07:44 PM I found out (and posted here), that Betty died on December 29, 1998, 18 years to the day of the sighting like you said. You meant 1998 right? It's creepy nonetheless.
Another thing I found out was that Betty was 51 at the time of the sighting (somewhat older than how old I thought she was) and Vicky was only 6 years older.
Brent88 01-31-2004, 08:35 PM This was one of the most interested "Unexplained" cases ever. I am no fan of UFO stories, but this one was very interesting.
everybodylovesrs 08-06-2009, 08:10 AM The History Channel UFO Hunters Alien Fallout 2009 features a fairly recent interview with Colby Landrum, and Betty's physician
Mastermind 08-06-2009, 09:53 AM This case has always interested me, because I don;t think it was a UFO they saw but a military device that was being tested.
joshypiano 08-06-2009, 11:23 AM I think thats the case with most UFO sightings that aren't just wholey made up.

Not every UFO is a bunch of green aliens.
UFO stands for UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT>
Since the object was UNIDENTIFIED.....no one knows 100% for sure what it was, if it was military (They deny it), then it is a "UFO"
nicoge21 01-11-2010, 05:25 PM The Bentwater UFO incident happened on the same day too. Hours apart. December 29th, 1980.

That's very interesting.
UnsolvedMystFan 01-15-2010, 06:45 AM I've always believed this was a military device of some sort. It's interesting that she claims a great deal of helicopters were circling / following it; inclines me to wonder if it somehow had gotten off track and needed to be brought back to the base.
The most convincing part for me was the extensive radiation all 3 suffered; you can't fake that (except by maybe giving yourself a zillion x-rays and I doubt anyone's THAT stupid).

I agree with that. I don't think it was extraterrestrial but something we built and were testing. Same thing with Kecksburg (although that was foreign), and possibly Roswell.
It's terrible the military denied these people even the simplest form of help. They could have just made them sign something, stating they won't speak of what happened, and given them treatment.
Apostapler 01-15-2010, 09:09 AM What was the name of that guy in Canada that saw the UFO and had burn scars he called his "buttons"?

burbqueen 01-15-2010, 01:55 PM To be honest with you guys I do feel something weird has been going on with some of these sightings. I don't know if it's the military or what. Personally, my mom and sister saw something back in the 80's in Michigan late at night. They swear it was a UFO. I know of 5 people who have seen something or have loved ones that have seen something. Most just dismiss it or just say it's a mystery.
mozartpc27 01-19-2010, 02:53 PM This one, unlike most of the others, always had a ring of truth to it, I must confess.
Hambone2421 06-21-2022, 10:51 AM I just saw this case for the first time. While I usually roll my eyes at UFO type of stories, I do believe these people saw something. I lean toward it being some sort of military type of aircraft that was either being tested or had gotten lost and off track therefore it had to fly much lower than expected, causing people to see it. Not only did these three see it, but the sheriff of the town they were in saw it as well as numerous other people in a five mile radius.
At the end of the segment, it mentions that one of the ladies profiled in the segment was hospitalized at least once a year every year after the sighting until her death in 1998.

I'd love to hear the story from the kid now. But, anyway.. Did they see something? I'm rather certain. Was it ET in origin? Probably not. Devious Gubbnment experiment? Probably not. Government *@$&-Up? Oh, now we're getting warm..

Not that uncommon.
She was in her 60's and.. If i'm not mistaken, don't take this as truth.. Isn't this the case where both of the women smoked like chimneys?
As for dying on the anniversary of the day of the incident.. Well, it was 1/365.2 odds of happening. Or a 99.7% chance it wouldn't happen..
But, those aren't exactly powerball odds.

I always find it interesting how we try to make logic sense of that which we can't explain or understand. The government recently admitted that UFO's are not a figment of the imagination of people and they have huge files they have kept in regards to the sightings. I think the most interesting thing about UFO sightings and events is that even the government cannot explain what exactly it is despite all of their classified information about "them".
Military lacked the technology of what has been reported consistently over the last 6 or 7 decades in regards to UFO sightings.
I think it is so superior of us to believe we are the only intelligent beings in the entire universe. There is a possibility there are beings who exist beyond Earth just like we have human beings who have knowledge and the ability to see and predict things.
I remember visiting a small town a few years ago and there was a lady with a sign in her window that would tell your fortune for a $1. My cousin didn't want to go in, but I kept at her so we both went. She decided to just watch my interaction. I was told by this woman that someone I had never met would be coming into my life within the next month and that the color burgundy would be significant. Three weeks later I had a 1st cousin (close family match) pop up on AncestryDNA. Come to find out this match was my 1/2 sister whom I never knew existed. Her mother had not told my father she was pregnant when they broke up. We lived 100 miles away from one another we decided to meet half way at a shopping center. When I laid eyes on her for the first time in person she was wearing burgundy from head to toe. Shoes, pants, shirt and purse. I couldn't do anything but laugh and acknowledge that there is a lot "unknown" that we can't explain and our logic minds will try to make sense of it. Sure it was just a coincidence or was it? LOL.

UFO != Aliens
Any object that is flying and can't be identified is an Unidentified Flying Object.
Belief if the possibility of alien life, intelligent or otherwise, does not require the belief that they are visiting us.
Killarney Rose 06-24-2022, 05:55 PM This is the only UFO segment that I believe. I do not believe it was aliens, but rather an army experiment gone awry.
SPD Yellow 07-07-2022, 06:07 PM Hate to be the killjoy, but the ladies’ story isn’t as solid as the segment would lead you to believe.

Meh.. That article is almost as bad as the sighting itself.. I mean, the author brings up valid points... But it kinda seems like he has the conclusion and he's writing to reach it.
I mentioned it above.. Has Colby ever said anything about this? Been interviewed in (relatively) recent times?
Looks like he may have been interviewed on Ancient Aliens and UFO Hunters.. Anyone seen those episodes? What did he have to say? I may try to find that episode as both are, I believe, on Hulu.
