I realize that the show Murphy Brown was mentioned a couple of times during the show's run. Somebody told me it was an inside joke because it competed against Seinfeld during its prime. Is that true?

I always thought Murphy Brown was on Mondays.

Murphy Brown was on Monday's. Besides, if it was Seinfeld's main competitor, I doubt that CBS would allow Candice Bergen aka Murphy Brown appear on the show.

Was that a guest appearance or was that really a clip from Murphy Brown?
