View Full Version : I'm getting a washer & dryer :)
Nanny Fine 01-26-2004, 03:05 PM So this post is for the grown ups around here who understand how horrible it is to go to the laundrymat. I work full time and my daughter has to wear a uniform to school so it's really hard to have to make time (as well as expensive) to go to the laundrymat to wash clothes. For the last year I've been renting a washer/dryer from Rent a Center for $31 a week which is insanely expensive and hard to keep up with. Well today I had them come and take it away because I couldn't afford it. Instead I'm getting a brand new unit from Sears that is all my own....for $24 a month. Go me. :) I know it seems silly to be so excited over this but I really am :) I won't have anything here for a week to do laundry but it will be worth it when my new one is delivered :)
SBTB Geek 01-26-2004, 03:07 PM Did you get a Kenmore?... Sears is known for good washers and dryers.

Yep they are Kenmores :) I've never owned anything like this other than my car :) I'm very excited :)
Mijada 01-26-2004, 03:14 PM That's cool. It's much more convenient to be able to just throw something in the wash whenever you need to. Packing everything up and spending half the day in the laundromat is a pain.
Ewan's My Man 01-26-2004, 03:22 PM YAY!
I can't imagine life w/o a washing machine/dryer in my house. I'm gonna be a wreck in college....
Mr. Stefani 01-26-2004, 03:57 PM our dryer fell off the washer and now both are broke..and they just got them like 3 months ago for mad money. doesn't that suck.

Mine is like that too, they are apartment sets - they stack dryer on washer :)

Same, I've never heard of that. How do you reach the dryer?

They are compact - smaller than normal w/d. I'm taller than the whole thing. My 8 yerar old can put stuff in the dryer and reach the knobs to turn it on.

its like a normal sized washer and dryer, but can be stacked...they never used to be, but they built on a new room, so it made the laundry room smaller so they put the dryer on top. its better like that cause it was a pain in the ass to walk across the room to but the stuff that was in the wash into the dryer.

We have a Kenmore dryer that has lasted since the 80s and it still works great. And we just had to replace the Kenmore washer we bought at the same time as the dryer. So they should last you a long time.

I've seen those before! I was trying to remember what one looked like. My ex-best friend lived in this house that was built in the 1800's, so there were a lot of small spaces and no laundry room...So when her parents moved in there, there was already one. Not having a laundry room would suck.

I got that in the mail last week. :barf:

No...my ex best friend's parents moved into their 1800s-style house in 1988, 1989ish and there was already an apartment set when they moved in. I haven't seen very many of those, so they're not as widely made. They HAVE been around longer than 10 years, that's for sure.
PZelda 01-27-2004, 12:24 AM I am SO glad I don't live in an apartment anymore. THANK GOD. We had to pay to do our laundry -- 75 cents for the washing machine, 25 for the dryer. Most of the time, the dryer wouldn't even dry everything on the first try, so it took $1.25 to 1.50 to do a load of laundry...I know that's nothing to you guys in bigger states...but I'm in a small state, so yeah. I've since long moved now, and not having to pay to do laundry is the most liberating thing ever! :biglove:
