I used to play piano... if I could I would do it again. My second cousin gave my bro a book on teaching himself to play the piano. Meanwhile, I'm trying to learn without the book. It's another thing that always makes me feel better :D

I've never tried out for All State. I guess I just don't think that I'd have a chance to make it. I have a pretty voice and good ears(that's what the department accompanist says anyway) but I'm not fantastic or anything.

I've never tried to learn to play an instrument, so that's probably why I can't. I'd love to learn how to play the piano though.

Teddy02.... you live in NY right??

Winter Break:
We get a whole week off for President's Day, basically because school would have to close anyways this week because *most* of the time, its the coldest week of the year.

And the two weeks we get off in December (sometimes only 1 week) is called "Holiday Recess"

And then of course.... the obvious Spring Break.

Ria

Random question--has anyone seen the movie "8 Women?" I just got through watching it and it's hysterical. It stars the 8 most important actresses in France (among them Catherine Deneuve), and is a murder-mystery/musical. If you don't mind subtitles (or can get over them at all), this movie's seriously worth while. (Just thought I'd share. . .)

barwars
02-13-2004, 10:03 PM
I havent.... but my French teacher has mentioned it before.
She's obsessed with movies.... and she has it for us to watch if she's ever out sick.

which she NEVER is.

Oh yes. I go to the Pocono race every year. Mostly hillbillies. My family isn't really hillbilly [on my fathers side, no.... on my mothers side a few people]. My immediate family is definately not hillbilly we just enjoy the race.

hahahaha! Yes! I love that line.

I disagree, Tim, I think that they deserve all of the praise. They really are beautiful and fantastic works of art, in my opinion ofcourse. the shots in these films are outstanding, the acting *except for the daughter "Mary"* are definately award-worthy, and the script is exceptionally well written. I especially like the fact that the characters in the later two movies follow the profile set for them in the first one. Like for example Vito's daughter "Con" who was the girl getting married in the first scene of the first movie, was physically abused by her husband, and then rescued several times by Sonny. In fact didn't Sonny die while speeding to find her husband to kill him? Well in the third one Connie protects Sonny's son vincent to the end, and kind of treats him like her own child.

Okay... let me have you opinions on this.

There's this girl in my history class who used to be my best friend, but now I DO NOT get along with her. So anyway, her best friend (who also used to be a best friend of mine but is now not) is on the class, too, and sat at the table behind mine. so the girl #1 got all pouty because the teacher wouldn't let them sit together, but later decided she needed to tell gerl #2 something. So, on the way to girl #2's table, she walked by my desk, knocked all my stuff on the floor (not on purpose, I'm assuming), and the only thing she did was pick up my assignment book and THROW it at me, which made it fall on the floor all over again. So she just kept walking and made ME pick everything up... and she didn't even say sorry!

I didn't say anything, because she's such a jerk to me, but do you think I should cofront her? Or just let it go. I was incredibly PISSED OFF when it happened.

Ooooooh, tough one! I'm extremely confrontational (Italian side), but it gets me into trouble sometimes. She clearly WANTS a reaction, so I'd be torn between wanting to vent my anger and wanting her to realize that outbursts like that don't get results. . .

Teddy02
02-18-2004, 09:11 PM
lol first of all tim you live in syracuse?! lol that's only 3 and 1/2 hours from where i live! :)

lol anyway dannie your problem, i'm facing the same sort of situation right now, sort of. this girl (let's call her "rebecca") i used to be really good friends with and we would do stuff all the time. she's the type of person that can be very possesive and dominating in a nonchalant kind of way. anyway, she started to try to really control my other friend (who by the way i was better friends with anyway) and not be very nice to her AT ALL. i still stayed friends with her until now when she got upset that i stayed the night at my other friends house. now she is very mad at talking behind my, and my others friend's back. she's very nice to our faces but terrible when we're not around. recently however she's been calling me to do stuff like come over or go to the mall and i've just been telling her no. so if anyone can actually follow what i've just written thanks for letting me get that off my chest (sorry for the length). and dannie i would just ignore the girls and if it gets really bad tell soemone b/c she shouldn't be doing stuff like that to you just b/c she mad about something stupid.

Aww, that sucks. :o

Fuse is great... MTV only plays actual videos at like 3 o' clock in the morning... Fuse plays them all day. :D And they play good videos from a lot of bands I like which MTV would never air. I love Fuse.

My Immortal- Evanescence (sp?)
Come Clean- Hillary Duff
Me, Myself, and I- Beyonce
I believe in a thing called love- The Darkness
With you- Jessica Simpson :barf:

MTV 2 is the only thing that is protecting my sanity, and now they are beginning to show alot of shows instead of videos, ugh. I hear next year Fuse is going to produce the Superbowl halftime show, maybe that will scare MTV a bit and they would play some other videos.

Actually.... Sam and Diane getting together means the end.
Its the end of the Diane years.
Or the end of Cheers.

Ive come to a conclusion....
I dont think there should a reunion movie.

I think the entire series should come back.
Just think of May 1993 - Fall 2004 as a REALLY long summer.

Have Season 12 start in September.

Have Frasier end with him thinking he's the big man on campus returning to Boston, but when he comes to suprise the gang at Cheers -- once again he's one-uped by Diane with her triumphant return!

I agree completely.
If you watch Season 1-5 start-to-finish.
Its like an entire series.
They dont NEED the Rebecca years.

But the Rebecca years NEED the Diane years.... because besides Rebecca.... thats where they all came from.

Its like Back to the Future.
If you only watch the first Back to the Future (the diane years).... it all makes sense.

But you NEED to see the first Back to the Future for the second Back to the Future to make sense (meaning.... the Rebecca years will not make sense without the Diane years)

confusing.... yes.
but in short -- the Rebecca and Diane years are equal in quality.
But the Rebecca years NEED the Diane years.... but the Diane years are fine on their own.

it has to come out on a Tuesday.

So either the 4th, 11th, 18th, or 25th.

Im betting on the 11th or 18th.

Earlier tonight I got really bored and popped in my tape of "One For The Road - Part 3".... and I cant think of any way to make the finale better. IMO.... it ended perfectly. I like that the last half of the episode is surrounding the "core" of Cheers (Sam, Carla, Woody, Frasier, Cliff and Norm). And that Diane and Rebecca were completely out of the last 15 minutes.

It is a great finale. I cried during most of it, though... just knowing it was the end.

HI!~ I didn't cry when I watched the finale because I started watching like in 2000 and cheers had already been over for like 7 years so it wasn't really the end!

I cried during-

I Do, Adeiu
One For the Road
and the embarassing one:

The Proposal. Just because what Sam said was sooo sweet. :o

I didn't cry during the finale, but I did get choked up. I mean I was sooooo disappointed when Diane and Sam didn't get together.

I wasnt disappointed at all.
If Sam and Diane had gotten together -- a reason for a reunion would be hard to come up with.

Hopefully in the reunion Diane will go back to the way she was in the first 5 seasons; there was something "off" about her in the finale.

I agree. I just watched the finale (as I mentioned I think).... and I noticed that she seemed very weird. I think the problem was -- she wasn't funny. She wasn't the witty character she was on the show. You're right she was very "off".

I was all geared up for Everyone Imitates Art [another ep I haven't seen in a looong time] last night, and Andy Grittith was on. :cuss:

I actually enjoyed watching Andy, but I would have rather been watching Cheers. It said Cheers on the TVguide channel. :o

I stopped watching TV reruns of all shows, including Cheers, a few years ago. I won't watch syndicated or cable reruns unless I know I'm getting something that's uncut.

I'm really glad they're speeding the DVD releases along, and can't wait until we have all eleven seasons.

No doubt that Andy Griffith is a classic show.
But I just never really liked it.
If the show were just about Barney.... maybe Id like it.
But Andy and his family were really boring IMO.

i totally agree with what you guys said a couple posts ago (lol yes i'm too lazy to post a quote) about diane being "off" she just wasn't herself in the last episode. i think not being at cheers for that long really sucked all the personality and wit out of her

That line where Woody told her that he was elected to City Council and she replied with "And I'm next in line for the Queen of England" she was SO ditzy or something, it wasn't her--not her intonation or the way she would pull off sarcasm. It upsets me whenever I watch it.

Me too.
The "real" Diane would never be that mean to Woody.
I could however see her turn to someone else and whisper it.

I know they're not illegal.
And that you can get them in the US.

But you wont be able to find them at a place like Target or Walmart.

Check out something like CompUSA or Best Buy, and if they dont have one.... you can always order online.

Im not sure about Lauren.

But today we had this "Hip Hop Summit" thing with Hip Hop Stars coming to the SU DOME to talk to the highschool students about staying in school and encouraging people to vote, so I stayed home.
I dont need P Diddy and Queen Latifah complaining to me.
I get enough for my teachers and parents.

And if you didnt want to go (which I didnt).... we had a half day, for "making up work"....

so I stayed home.

So Brian.... how was the birthday??
