View Full Version : New "NICK" Shows In 2004
pilotguy 01-01-2004, 12:08 PM I hate to be a worrier, but I remember some talk about NICK starting up some "new" series like "Who's The Boss?" and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".....
Are these new series supposed to begin soon?....And will they affect the "Wings" "Double Feature" at 3 AM?
Maybe that means a "slight" cutback of the 14 hours a day of "The Cosby Show" that seems to be on every single time I turn it to Nick.

That would be great! :D
It seems that Roseanne might be become the nest Cosby Show for N@N though :barf:
I don't mind Roseann, but no show needs to be on more than an hour a day. A full hour of any show is more than enough. It's back-to-back episodes.
Maybe they could have more shows if they weren't airing the same 2 or 3 shows all day long.
Janice 01-04-2004, 03:48 AM I've noticed that Wings is doing a full hour at 3 am. I just love it. Is it permanent?
AngeFaitore 01-04-2004, 10:59 AM On another note, I miss 'Doctor, Doctor' (It was usually on after 'Wings' on USA... like you already don't know that).
I wish that TV Land or WE would pick up the series (on WE, it's REALLY time to replace 'Two Guys and a Girl'. I love the show, but I'm getting sick of it. Kind of like 'The Cosby Show').
Maybe N@N will get it.

Not only is Roseanne on N@N, but Oxygen and in syndie as well. I mean, I love the show, but I don't need to watch it THAT MUCH!
Oxy, make more space for AbFab and stop showing so much Roseanne.
I know that TBS and WGN show it as well.

Not anymore. Roseanne left TBS in September when it came to N@N/Oxygen. I never knew it aired on WGN.
Who's the Boss and Fresh Prince are coming to N@N next year. WTB is coming in March I think and FP in the Fall. I doubt, though, that you'll see a cutback of the Cosby Show. I do think they will take some shows off the air when the new shows come.

I remember a long time ago when Who's the Boss was originally in syndie when WLVI and WSBK used to be carried by our cable co. We saw it at least two or three times during the day. Now we see a similcast of King of the Hill on two local affiliates.
I wish my cable co. would pick up WGN. They seem to have a better selection of afternoon shows but cable can't have two superstations for some weird reason. It was a rule that they put in action a long time ago (some law, actually. Look it up on Google Groups).

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but "Full House" just doesn't seem to be making much of an impact on NICK.....
Say what you will about "Roseanne", but I think that we all have to admit that at least THAT show can qualify as a definite NICK "hit"....but "Full House" just seems to be getting lost in the shuffle.
When you stop to think about it, "Wings" is playing pretty much the same role on NICK that it played on NBC....Not a big, runaway hit, and not a "high profile" show, but a solid show that has a legion of loyal and devoted fans. (While it has the reputation of being "The Show That Followed CHEERS On Thursdays", "Wings" actually was bounced around quite a bit by NBC through the years.....and several times it was plugged into some pretty undesirable days and time slots. (Remember when it was on at 9 or 9:30 on Friday nights? What "non-TGIF" sitcoms do you know that were successful in THAT timeslot?)

ABC Family picked it up two months after Nick did.
It seems to be doing better on there. The only time I see it on Nick is during N@N and on Nick Sundays at 5:00 pm.
I think it's time for Nick to drop it.

I just checked it on the episode log....NBC moved "Wings" to 9:30 on Friday nights at the start of Season #2 ("The Puppetmaster" was the first Friday episode).
The show struggled in that timeslot (where it seemed to be the ONLY recognizable NBC sitcom on Fridays) until January of 1991, when it was moved to Thursdays at 9:30. (Just for the record, that first Thursday episode was "Airport '90").
Brent88 01-05-2004, 12:36 PM I actually don't believe Full House or Roseanne belong on N@N. I mean, they premiered in the late 80s and lasted til the mid 90s(87-95 for FH, 88-97 for Roseanne). I think Full House fits better on ABC Family along with the other shows on that channel like Family Matters and Step By Step, all three of those shows belong there because they are too new for N@N.
You know, when you think about it, Wings doesn't belong on N@N. It premiered later than both Full House and Roseanne.
Chocoholic 01-05-2004, 01:19 PM I think Full House is better for Nickelodeon or ABC Family. I wouldn't be surprised if N@N drops it soon, or pushes it into the wee hours of the morning.
I think Wings is actually a little too recent for N@N, but it is one of my favorites and I'm glad they're showing it, even if it is in a really crappy timeslot. Heck, MTV or LifeTime (my two least favorite networks) could pick up Wings and I'd watch :D
Brent88 01-05-2004, 02:41 PM Defintely Full House belongs on Nick and not N@N. It needs to air in the Late Afternoon where kids will watch, since it's primarily a kids show. 9-10pm is really a little too late for it's key audience.

I can just see Sway or Kurt Loder from MTV doing special bookends introducing the episodes!
Then on MTV2, they can get computer heads to do Wings videos set to recent music.
Now THAT would be mildly amusing.
Heather987 01-28-2004, 05:03 AM Personally I think that Nick shows to much one show
you get a total of 2 hours of Cosby and the 2nd hour is repeated the next night at the 1st hour time slot, same goes for Roseanne
Full House and Threes Company show the same 2 episodes in one night and they both have 2 hours
And Wings is given 1 hour
So here we have 5 shows and 9 hours of airing time.
I think that they need to give TCS a vacation and 1 hour of Roseanne needs to be replaced and Full House belongs on ABC Family or Hallmark
I like all these shows but I am getting tired of seeing the same show all the time and then the repeat.
I tend to watch N@N from 10 (CST) till I go to bed and its disturbing to only see Wings is the only show that I do not crammed with all the repeats
Classic Modern TV? Nick skipped so many shows that are not even shown in syndication, I think that if a show can be seen on any given channel at any time of the day it does not belong on N@N.
Oh and by the way come latter/middle part of 2004 we will get yet another show from Cosby "fatherhood" and I heard that they were going to show 1 hour a week of Kids Say .... again
I like Roseanne but already in the short time it has been on N@N I have all the episodes between the marathons and 2 hours a night of airing that I am getting burned out on it, and TCS burned me out about a year ago when it was on 2 nights a week for the Summer Block, and it seems like it takes so long to get past the boring episodes with Pam and Olivia.
They need to give Wings an hour of airing at a better time and at least put TCS on at 2 am (CST) instead of at 9 and 11 thats too close together

Personally, I think any show that is show on another network besides Nick at Nite(Cosby, Roseanne, and Full House) should only be shown once a night on N@N. IMO ABC Family treats Full House better than N@N does.
I hope this means that they will make room for these without bumping any, which means cut down to one showing a night, and start N@N at 8 pm like they used too years ago, then they'd have more room for sure ;)
