This fic is based upon the 2003 Lifetime Original movie-Comfort and Joy. If you liked the movie, I am pretty sure you will like tis. Enjoy! :)

It is a regular Monday morning and everything is going well at the Division. They just got a new case about a woman who was murdered and Jinny and Magda are in the car on their way to the crime scene. Jinny is now divored and single at the moment but she never went back to drugs or alcohol. Magda never saw Jonah again and was very content with Gabe. After they questoned the neighbors and herd the usual, "I don't know anything" , they went to the anchorside for a cup of coffee.

They sat down and started talking.
"Are you okay Jin?" Magda asked.
Jinny sighed. "Yeah, I am fine why?"
Magda took a sip of her coffee. "Well, you haven't been the same since the divorce was finalized."
"If your divorce was just finalized, would you be in a good mood?" She asked sarcastically.
"I guess not. We should get back to the Division." She said a paid for the coffees and they left.

When they got back, Kate came out of her office to talk to them.
"So how did it go at the crime scene?" Kate asked them.
Jinny took off her leather jacket and sat in her chair. "Well, no one saw anything. We are going to talk to her children because we just found out that her 3 children are supposed recieve $2.5 million dollars each when she passed. This woman was only 61 years old and had no medical problems."
"$2.5 million dollars each? Boy, I wish she weren't dead. I would have her adopt me!!" Kate said and laughed.
Everyone stared at her. "It was just a joke! Geez.." Kate said and went back into her office.
Jinny got up out of her chair and felt dizzy and grabbed on to he closet thing trying not to fall over. It was CD.
"Oh my God Jinny. Are you okay?" CD asked.
Jinny put her hand up to her forehead. "What? Yes, I'm...uh.. fine...fine."
"If you are fine, why are you still hoding on to me?" She said laughing.
"What?" Jinny realized she was holding CD's arm rather tight. "Oh I am so sorry. Guess I am not feeling to well."
Magda walked over to them. "Go home and get some rest. We can wait until tomorrow to question the kids. They aren't suspects."
"Yeah you are probably right. I will see you guys tomorrow." Jinny said and left for the evening.

She went out to her car and go in. She started her car and began to make her way for home. She all of a sudden felt dizzy ad very light headed. She closed her eyes for a second because her vision got blurry and when she opened them, she accidentally swerved into the other lane and crashed into all of the cars in that lane stopped at a red light. She was unconsious when the paramedics got there.

She finally woke up in the hospital a week later. When she awoke, a man sitting ina chair next to her bed had a very happy look on his face. Jinny had no idea who he was.
"You're awake!" He said and kissed her forehead. "Oh wait until you see her!" He then ran out of the room.
Jinny was really freaked out by that. "Who was that??" She shrugged and closed her eyes until the doctor came into the room.
"Hello Mrs. Rhiley. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked.
Jinny sat up. "Fine and--what? Wait a minute. Mrs. what??"
"Mrs. Rhiley." the doctor said.
Jinny was now totaly lost. "That's not my name."
The doctor sat next to he. "What is your name?"
"Jinny Estead. Inspetor Jinny Exstead." She said making him aware she was the police.
The doctor wrote that down. "And why are you here? What is te last thing you remember?"
"I was felling dizzy at work and went home early but got into a car accident on the way home. Why are you asking me this? Shouldn't you know why I am here?" She asked.
"Well I know why you are here but it is for different reasons." He answered.
Jinny was once again confused. "What do you mean?"
"Wait here." The doctor left and came back in again."This is why you are here."
Jinny's eyes popped. "A baby??"

Jinny was once again confused. "What do you mean?"
"Wait here." The doctor left and came back in again."This is why you are here."
Jinny's eyes popped. "A baby??"
The doctor handed Jinny her newborn baby girl. "Yes. You gave birth to your daughter two days ago."
"No I don't think so. I am divorced and have never ever thought of having a baby so this is not my baby. You have got me mixed up with someone else."
Just then, Mr. Rhiley walked into the room. "Isn't she beautiful sweetheart?" He leaned over and kissed her.
Jinny pulled him away. "Get away from me!"
"Honey what's wrong?" He aksed.
Jinny got very angry. "Call me honey again and I swear to God.."
The doctor got up. "Hank, may I see you outside for a minute?"
They stepped out while Jinny lay in her bed still stunned by what is happening.

"What is going on with my wife doctor?" He asked.
"She says the last thing she remembers is being in a car accident. Was she ever in a car accident?" The doctor asked.
Hank thought for a minute. "Yes. She had a case of dizziness about five years ago and got into an accident on her way home from work. I am the one who found her in the car and stayed with her until she became consious. We have never been apart since. "
"I believe that might be what she is referring to. Did you say five years ago?"
Hank shook his head. "Yes."
"That should be around the year 2003. Let me ask her something." He walked back into the hospital room.

The doctor sat back down. "Jinny, may I ask you a few questions?"
"Why not." She replied.
"Do you know where you are?" He asked.
She thought. "I know I am in a hispital but I am not sure which one."
He wrote that down. "Ok. What is your full name?"
"Jinny Louise Exstead. Formerly Ellis." She said.
"Ok...and what is todays date?" He finally asked.
Jinny had to think back. "Well, the day I got into my accident, it was Monday January 12, 2004."
The doctor realized what the problem was. "Okay. Will you excuse us?"
Jinny rolled her eyes. "Well aren't you going to let me in on what is going on?"
"We will be right back." He said and left the room.

WOW! Thats a lot of replies!!!!! Sorry I didn't post sooner. I had temporary amnesia? No? Ok well at least I tried. You guys are lucky I can't get to sleep and I decided to post more on this fic tonight. I will just have to sleep during classes tomorrow. ;)

"Sounds like a good idea. Give them a call. The sooner the better." The doctor said.

A few hours later, there was a knock on Jinny's hospital room door but she didn't hear it because she was sleeping so Hank answered the door. It was Kate.
"Hi Hank." She said.
Hank smiled. "Hi Kate. Uh, as I discussed with you over the phone, the doctor and I both think that maybe if we surrounded her with people she worked with and were very close to, she might start to remember some things or at least calm down."
"She is flipping. Heh, that's the Jinny Exstead I know! I will go talk to her. The other inspectors are on their way so they will be arriving shortly." Kate said and walked into the room.

She sat down in the chair next to the bed and held Jinny's hand. Jinny felt someone touching her and immediately woke up.
"Cap, what are you doing here?" Jinny said with a smile, very glad someone familiar was there.
Kate smiled. "Well, I heard you were causing a comotion because you are saying you don't remember anything." Kate smiled.
Jinny laughed. "I seriously don't. I thought I was in the hospital because of the accident i was in and now I find out I am in here because I had a baby. Some guy named Hank is saying he is married to me. I am trying to explain to him that I don't have a husband and I just got a divorce from Jack but no one is listening to me. You believe me don't you Cap?"
"I believe you. I think you might be having a case of amnesia." Kate explained.
"Me? No way!" Jinny said in denial.
Kate smiled because Jinny was still her stubborn self. "OK well what year is it?"
"Man, everyone keeps asking me that. I think you are the ones with the memory problems. It is 2004." Jinny said.
Kate gave her a look. "No, it is 2009."
"I think I know what year it is and I am telling you it is 2004 Captain!" She said getting frustrated.
"It's D.C." She corrected.
Jinny was now lost. "What?"
Kate started to explain. "I am the D.C. When I didn't make Chief, they gave me the position of D.C. about 3 years ago. But you wouldn't know that because you weren't there."
"Why wasn't I there?" She asked.
"Well, you were in a car accident about 5 years ago and that is when you met Hank. After you two got married 10 months later, you quit the force to be a stay-at-home mom."
Jinny got it now. "Did you say 5 years ago I had an accident?"
"Yes. It was on the way home from work when you went home early cause you were a little sick and you got dizzy and crashed your car." Kate said.
"YES! That is the accident I was in and that is why I am here." She said.
Kate shook her head. "No you are here because you had little Sophie."
"All I know is that the last thing I remember doing is getting into that car accident." She said and started to cry.
Kate sat on the bed next to her and gave her a hug. "It's Ok. Maybe things will all come back to you when you see your daughter and your son."
"Son??" Jinny said now alarmed.
Kate looked at her. "Oh. Yes you also have a 13 month old son named Sam."
"What am I going to do?? I don't know who my husband and kids are, I don't know where I live or how I live, what my job is, nothing!" Jinny said as there was a knock on the door.
Jinny wiped her tears. "Come in."
It was CD. She looked just as she did the last day Jinny saw her in 2004.
"Hi Jinny. How are you feeling?" CD asked.
She smiled. "I am good. How are you?"
"I'm great!"
Kate got up from the bed. "Well, I am going to go outside and talk to Hank. I will be back to see you later ok Jin?"
"Alright. Thanks for coming." Jinny said and hugged Kate.
Kate hugged back. "Of course I would come. You may not be one of my inspectors anymore but you are still a damned good cop!"
Jinny smiled. "Thank you."
Kate nodded and left the room to talk to Hank and the doctor.

Kate, Hank, and the doctor were all talking in the hallway.
"She told me the last thing that she remembers is the accident she had in 2004 and that is why she is here in the hospital." She explained.
"This amnesia she has is only temporary I promise. I will release her to you Hank tomorrow. Hopefully getting her home sooner will help her remember things a little more." The doctor said.
Hank smiled. "I hope so. Even if she doesn't remember our life together, I will still love her and try to help her as much as I can." Hank paused. "I am going to go back in with her." Hank went into the room.

"No kidding? You are now the Captain?? That is great! You deserve it!" She said.
CD smiled. "Thank you."
Hank went over. "So how is everything going in here?"
CD looked at him. "Everything is going great. We were just catching up with each other."
"I am sorry to disturb you but couldI have a minute alone with Jinny?" Hank asked politely.
CD nodded. "Absolutely. I will be right outside if you need me Jinny." She said and left.
Hank sat down. "How are you feeling?"
"Stupid." She paused. "See, I do believe me and you are married and we do share a life together but I am sorry I just..I don't remember. Please don't be too angry at me."
"That is okay. I could never be mad at you. The doctor said I could take you home tomorrow. Hopefully the surrounding of the house will jog your memory." Hank explained.
Jinny smiled a little. "I hope so. It feels soo horrible not being able to know anything about your own life."

The next day, Jinny was all ready to go home. Hank came into the room with a wheelchair.
"You honestly don't expect me to ride in that thing do you??" Jinny said giving him a look.
Hank was thinking to himself 'Still stuborn'. "Look, they wheel you in they're gonna wheel you out."
Jinny smiled. "Where have I heard that before?" She knew she was going to lose so she just got into the chair.
"We have to make a stop first." He said.
Jinny gave him a look. "Where to?"
"The nursery."
Jinny said. "Um, can't you just take me to the car and you grab the baby. I don't think I can. I am not any good with babies. What if I drop it?"
Hank laughed. "You won't drop Sophie. I promise." He said and wheeled her to the nusery. A nurse brought out little Spohie.
"Here you go Mrs. Rhiley." The nurse said and handed Sophie to Jinny.
Jinny grabbed Sophie and just looked at her. Sophie looked at Jinny and just smiled. Jinny felt so good about herself.

On the way home, Jinny sat in the back seat with Sophie just smiling and playing with her. When they go to the house, Hank grabbed the car seat and when Jinny got out of the car, she was amazed. The house was huge!
"Wait a minute. This house is soo big! Where did we get the money for this if I don't work anymore?" Jinny asked still staring at the house.
"I am the biggest attorney in San Francisco. Don't you remember that?" Hank asked.
Jinny frowned. "I don't even remember what my husband does for a living." She muttered. "No Hank I don't remember. I am sorry."
"Don't be. It's OK. Well should we go inside? It is cold out here." He said and walked into the house with Jinny following him.
As Jinny was walking in, she was pushed up against the door.
"AHHHH!!!" Jinny screamed.
Hank put the carrier down and went to Jinny. "Don't worry honey. It is just the dog."
"Dog?" Jinny asked.
Hank smiled. "Yes, this is Rover, our golden retriever."
"I see." Jinny said as someone came over to Jinny.
He lifted his arms to her. "Momma."
"I take it this is Sam?" Jinny asked Hank. He nodded.
Jinny bent down to the little boy. "Hi Sam."
Sam went hugged her. "Momma Momma!" He then gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Hi guys. I am sooo sorry I haven't been posting. I had surgery on my toe the other night and have been really sore. I know that's no excuse but I promise to keep up with this from now on.

He lifted his arms to her. "Momma."
"I take it this is Sam?" Jinny asked Hank. He nodded.
Jinny bent down to the little boy. "Hi Sam."
Sam went hugged her. "Momma Momma!" He then gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Jinny smiled. "Aww. He is so cute. He kinda looks like you."
"Actually, everyone says he looks like you." Hank said and left the subject alone. "Would you like to take Sophie to her room?"
"Are you sure?" Jinny asked.
Hank gave her a look. "Honey, she is your daughter too."
"I know. I am just..not used to it I guess." She paused. "I guess I will take her." She said as she picked up Sophie. "Which room is hers?"
"Well she stays in our room until she gets a little older because you were scared with Sam as well that when she cried you wouldn't hear her. Our room is the first room on the left. If you would like her to sleep in her nursery it's fine with me."
"No that's ok. When Casey was born I was scared of the same thing or so my father tells me." She said and walked up the stairs as Hank sighed wondering when to tell her.

It was dinner time and Jinny had taken a nap. When Hank went to wake her up, she jumped, not remembering where she was.
"Jinny it's just me!" Hank told her.
Jinny looked around. "I know I know. I just forgot where I was." Jinny said getting up.
"Uh, Jinny we need to talk about a couple of things." He said to her.
Jinny stopped. "Okay."
"Well number one, Sophie needs to be fed." Hank said. "You breast-fed Sam and I wasn't sure if you wanted to do the same with Sophie since you don't remember doing with Sam."
Jinny thought of what to do. "No it's okay I will breastfeed her." She paused but was very worried because she had never fed a baby before and was scared about doing right. "Is there anything else you want to talk about?"
"Yes but I think it is best to wait until after dinner." He explained.
Jinny understood.

Dinner was finally over. Hank had tried to show her how to feed Sophie and said she did a good job but Jinny didn't think she did.
"So you wanted to talk to me?" Jinny asked him.
Hank sighed. "Yes. You should probably sit down."
"Oh no. What's wrong?" She asked frantically sitting down.
He sat down next to her. "Listen, I was hearing you talking about your father."
"Yeah?" She said.
He sighed once again. "About 3 years ago, he had another heart attack."
Jinny was in shock. "Oh my God. Does he still live where he used to? I need to go see him."
"Honey, you can't." Hank said getting tears in his eyes.
Jinny frowned. "Why not?"
"This attack was too strong. He didn't make it." He said and hugged Jinny.

Jinny sat there like a statue. She didn't move. "No." She paused. "No it isn't true. You're lying to me. I don't know why you are but you are."
"I would never ever lie about something like that. I am sorry but it is true." He tried to explain to her once again.
She got up. "No! I won't believe you." She ran to her room and started to cry.

About an hour later, Jinny came down the stairs and sat on the sofa next to Hank. "I need you to tell me something."
"Yeah?" He said.
Jinny sighed. "I need to know what else is going on that I don't know about. I want the truth."
"No I think that is the worst of it. Casey is living with his roomate/partner, Ronnie hasn't been around since your Dad died,--"
Jinny shook her head and laughed. . "Figures. Do you think I can go down to the station tomorrow to see everyone? It might help me."
"I don't see why not." Hank paused. "Would you like me to go with you?"
"Thanks but that's okay. I think I should do this on my own." She told him.
Hank felt kinda hurt but understood. "Okay. If you need me let me know." He then heard Sophie start to cry. "I had better go up to her."
"And I will go to the station in the morning." She added.
Hank smiled. "Sounds like a plan." He said and went upstairs.

The next day, Jinny drove herself to the San Francisco Police Department to see who was still there. When she walked into the Felony Division, she saw Inspector Nate Basso sitting at a desk directly across from Inspector Raina Washington, his new partner. On the other side of the room was Inspector Magda Ramirez sitting across from Inspector Stacy Reynolds, her new partner. Jinny was never soo thrilled to see her ex partner.
"Magda!" Jinny shouted and walked over to her.
Magda turned around. "Oh my God! Jinny!!" She ran over and hugged the death out of her. "I can't believe it's you! Raina, Nate look who's here!"

Nate laughed. "CD? Leave? No way! You couldn't get her to leave if you paid her. Didn't CD tell you about her promotion?" He asked.
"Oh yes she did. Is she in her office?" Jinny asked.
Nate nodded. "Yes she is. You can go in there if you want."

As she walked up to the office door, Jinny just stared at what was on the door. 'Candace DeLorenzo Basso, Captain' When she saw that a big grin went across her face. She knocked on the door.
"Come in." A familiar voice said.
When CD saw Jinny walk through the door, a grin then went across her face.
"Hi Captain." Jinny said and smiled.
CD got up from her chair and went to Jinny and gave her a big hug. "It is so nice to see you! How are you?"
"I am good except for all this memory thing. I just found out my father died. This is just way too much information to take on at once." Jinny said getting tears in her eyes.
CD sat next to her. "I know Jin. This is a really sucky position you are in." She then hugged her as Jinny started to cry in her arms.

About two hours later, Nate knocked on CD's office door and walked in to find CD and Jinny crying in each others arms.
"Oh my God what happened? Is everything okay??" Nate asked.
They both looked up at him. "Just perfect!" Jinny said and they went back to crying histerically.
"Women!" Nate said and left the room.

You didn't offend me! It just sucks that you say those not very nice comments like 'not here please' about other people's replies.If you don't want to read them then don't but let people say their opinion about what they liked or not! Could you just be a little more tolerant about other's likings please?

"Do you think it is possible for me to get my job back here?" Jinny asked.
CD didn't know what to say. "Well are you sure that is a good idea? I mean, you just had a baby and your partner has a new partner. Are you sure you want to?"
"Yes I do. It might help me to get my memory back." Jinny told her. "Please?"
CD thought for a minute. "Just do me a favor ok?"
"What?" She asked.
CD got up. "Talk to Hank first. Ask him if that is the best thing to do ok?"
"Alright. Thanks CD--I mean Captain." Jinny said and hugged her.
"Actually in private life it is Mrs. Basso." CD said and smiled.
Jinny smiled. "Really!?"
"Yeah."
Jinny went up and hugged her really tight. "I am soo happy for you."
"Thank you." Paused. "Now go talk to your husband." She said.
Jinny fely weird. "I am not used to that." But smiled anyway.
"I know. I am not used to Captain or Mrs. Basso yet..but doesn't Mrs. Basso sound really good??" She joked and smiled.

Jinny got back to her house and Hank was sitting at the kitchen table feeding Sam his lunch but it wasn't going too well. Sam was spitting all of the food all over Hank's face.
"Come on Sam, you are old enough to eat your food." Hank said to himself.
Jinny laughed. "Would you like some help?"
"PLEASE!" Hank said and giggled as he got up out of his chair. Jinny sat in his chair and started to feed Sam herself. He ate all of his food the correct way. Hank pouted.
"Why does he eat right for you??" He said still getting food out of his hair.
She laughed. "Because I am the mother and kids always listen to the mother."
It made Hank relieved to hear her refer to herself as mother. As soon as they were done feeding all of the children their lunch and put them down for a nap, Jinny asked to speak with Hank privately.
"Of course. Let's go into my den." Hank said as Jinny followed him into his den.
"Now what would you like to talk to me about?" He asked.
Jinny sat down. "Okay, today I went by the station. I saw all my old friends and everyone and I realized how much I missed it."
Hank interrupted. "Jin-"
"No let me finish. I can't imagine me ever wanting to quit my job. I loved it there. I was happy. Those people there got me through some of the worst times in my life. My drinking, my first marriage, my first divorce, everything. There were all there for me. I love them all so much. I was thinking maybe if I went back to working there, I might remeber something. Now, I am asking your opinion. If you say no, you probably know me by now and I will go anyway. Now what is your opinion?"
Hank sighed and looked at her. "Are you sure this is what you want?"
"Positive." She answered.
He thought for a minute. "Well I for one think this is a terrible idea."

"CD, it's Jinny. I talked to Hank and he said it's ok with him if I go back." She said.
CD smiled. "Ok then I will see you tomorrow 8AM sharp!"
"Yes Ma'am." She answered and hung up.

CD went to talk to the other employees.
"Everyone listen up. Jinny Exstead is coming back to the force and-" She was interrupted by everyone yelling YAY!! "Ok everyone calm down. She will be here tomorrow and I want you all to keep in mind that she doesn't remember a lot of things. Now does anyone want to be her partner?"
"I do." Magda said.
Magda's new partner after Jinny left was a guy named Mark. He was a little offended to hear that comment. "Oh you don't want me as a partner?"
"It's just I have known her for about 10 years and she needs me right now." Magda explained.
Mark nodded. "I understand."
"Great then Magda you will be Jinny's partner." CD said.

The next day, Jinny walked into The Division and she was shocked. There was a banner that said 'Welcome Back Inpector Exstead!'
She was so touched. Then Magda came up to her.
"Hey stranger." She said and hugged her.
Jinny smiled. "Hi Mag. Boy this place has changed."
"Yep. Well, ya know it's been a while since you were here." Magda said.
"That's what they all tell me." She said and giggled.
CD then came out of her office. "Welcome back. I got your first case."
"Let's hear it." Jinny said and felt at home again.
CD smiled. "There was a car accident. Cops arrived on the scene and one of the people involved is a cop here. I thought you should go and see what's going on."
"Ok let's go." Magda said and they left.

When they arrived on the scene, Jinny was startled. One of the cars looked like a light blue Ford Crown Victoria, the car she had been driving the day she got into that accident. Magda and her and walked over to the scene and Jinny screamed!
"OH MY GOD!!!!!" She paused and went closer. "THAT'S ME!!"

"No she has a pulse. The ambulance is on their way. There was a lot of cars involved in this" He said and walked away.
Jinny then tapped Magda on the shoulder. "No that's not right. I am right here!! Magda listen to me!! IM RIGHT HERE!!!"
Magda walked closer to the car and after seeing Jinny in the car unconsious, she fell to the ground and cried. "Please be alright Jinny. Please!!"
"BUT I AM ALRIGHT! I AM RIGHT HERE!!" Just then Jinny started to feel dizzy and fell to the ground. She started imagining all of these flashback about what has happened in her life. The Intervention, Jack, AA, Magda's wedding, Kate's stroke, and John Jr.'s death.

Just then, Jinny woke up. She found herself in a hospital room. In the room was Magda, Kate, CD, Nate, Raina, John Sr., and Casey. She started to come around. She opened her eyes. "Hank..?"
Magda went to her. "Hi Jinny."
"Where am I?" She said weakly.
Everyone else went to her to. "You're in the hospital sweetie." John Sr. said.
"Where's Hank?" She said.
Magda gave her a look. "Who is Hank?"
"My hu.." She realized it must have been a dream. "..nothing. What happened?"
"You had a car accident. Remember you were dizzy and you went home?" Magda said.
Jinny shook her head. "Yes. I remember." She felt so good to finally remember something.

A week later she was ready to leave the hospital. Magda came to pick her up. Magda had gone to get a wheelchair for her since Jinny made her leave in one when she was shot. Jinny decided to wait in the hallway and on her way out, she bumped in to someone.
"Oh I'm sorry Miss. Are you ok?" He said.
Jinny smiled. "It's you."
"Yes it is." He grinned but he was still a little confused.
"I knew it would be you." She continued to smile.
He was now lost. "Excuse me have we met?"
She smiled bigger. "Yeah. Uh, no. It's a long story..."

The End
