NICK@NITE

For Nick at Nite, originals mandate involves developing adult programming that kids can watch in order to cash in on the channel's strong Nickelodeon lead-in. Nick@Nite's programming is "informed by the four F's: family-friendly, funny and familiar."

Original programming for TV-philes is in the pipeline for TV Land. That means a slate of originals centered on all things TV -- including documentaries, mockumentaries, list shows (which have put sister net VH1 back on the map), reality/reunion specs and sitcoms.

Acquired programs will remain both channels' bread-and-butter biz. The originals strategy is designed to take advantage of the large audience watching Nick at Nite, and to give the audience a new reason to watch TV Land.

Nick at Nite, November Nielsen numbers show the it is up 13% in its core adult 18-49 demo year-to-year. Nick@Nite ranks first among basic cablers in the demo during its Sunday-Thursday 9 p.m.-6 a.m., Friday-Saturday 10 p.m.-6 a.m. programming block.

Nick@Nite will shoot for an hour of original programming once every week from 9-10 p.m. for 2004, and eventually expand to the same hour on different nights.


The long-gestating "Fatherhood" is first up, with the animated series set to debut in June. Several companion candidates are in development to air with the skein. Bill Cosby serves as executive producer of an animated series based on his best selling book, Fatherhood (Doubleday/Dolphin). Blair Underwood ("LA Law," "Sex and The City") stars. Charles Kipps ("Little Bill," "Cosby Mysteries," "Law & Order") is executive producer and David Brokaw ("Little Bill") is producer. (30 min.). Premieres: June '04

"Exploding Baloney," Taking a cue from classic gags like the joy buzzer and hot pepper bubble gum, this hidden camera show features parents and teachers playing good-natured practical jokes on kids. Executive Producer Joe Boyd.

"ALF's Hit Talk Show," a entertainment talker hosted by TV's famous furry alien. Exec producers are Paul Fusco ("Alf") and Burt Dubrow ("The Tom Green Show").



Nick@Nite also has scripts commitments for:

"Zen & Buster," from Kelsey Grammer's Grammnet Productions, animated half-hour revolves around the lives of Hollywood pets. Grammer will perform voiceover for the show.

"NEW Kids Say the Darndest Things," armed with a new host, the latest edition of Art Linkletter and Bill Cosby's format of the same name. Linkletter, Eddie Krtizer and Irvin Atkins produce.


Scripted series on the slate for Nick@Nite include:

"Return Engagement," a sitcom revolving around retired thesps living in a "Melrose Place"-type complex. Project comes from actor-director Peter Bonerz ("Just Shoot Me.")

"Take 2" chronicles the life of a classic TV star-turned-psychologist who is unable to escape the shadow of his former fame. Series was created by Dan Schneider ("Big Fat Liar.")

"My Man Marty," about a long-lost laffer given new life on a network's schedule, from exec producers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert ("Stripperella.")

"The Tommy Lynch Project," a la "The Larry Sanders show," series is a behind-the-scenes comedy about a hidden camera dating skein. Tommy Lynch (Nickeldeon's "Romeo") produces.




TV LAND

As for TV Land, it is celebrating its most-watched year ever in the adults 25-54 demo and total viewers.

TV Land has greenlit the six-seg one hour series "TV Land Moguls," which exemplifies the strategy of targeting tubeaholics. Hosted by Merv Griffin, series--from CBS News Prods.--- profiles TV's pioneering producers over the decades including Desi Arnaz, Norman Lear, Aaron Spelling, Steven Bochco, Dick Wolf, David E. Kelley and Jerry Bruckheimer, premieres in April.

Also back for a second year (March 2004) will be the "TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV," which notched 15 million overall viewers on both TV Land and Nick at Nite in March 2003, hosted by the great John Ritter. The behind-the-scenes special from the first TV Land Awards "All Access Pass: The TV Land Awards" is set to premiere Jan. 28.

TV Land's Greatest TV Moments - A comprehensive look at the extraordinary moments experienced only through television. From momentous news events such as Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream Speech" and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon to Dallas: Who Shot J.R? and The Osbournes debut on MTV. I especially like the "table Read" thing!

I like some of the ideas, but I just wish the wouldn't crowd their schedules with it. TVLand seems to have good ideas, especially "Table Read," "TVLand's Greatest TV Moments" and "TVLand Real Characters."

I have to say that both networks are taking things that seem to fit with their overall programming. I mean, Nick at Nite is choosing cooky pilots and featuring modern classics sort of ideas. TVLand, however, has chosen all non-scripted-type programs which seem very interesting to me. I'm excited for all of it :)

"TVLand's Ultimate Fan Search." That'd be great, because they could bring back the Ultimate Fan Hour on Friday afternoons where the winner of the whole tournament gets to program an hour of programming for a whole year, picking any shows he or she wants.

I don't like the idea of them airing original programming. Eventually, classic sitcoms will be pushed aside for all original garbage. Just like what happened to MTV.

Some of these Ideas are awesome,

nickatNite should think first before adding all these shows to its schedule, it only runs 9 hours a night and they have like 50 shows that they want to air!

:rolleyes: :rolleyes: Full House isn't nearly as popular as The Cosby Show or Roseanne. Even in it's original run it was never as popular. The fact that Full House is N@N's third highest rated show (After Cosby and Roseanne) is purely do to it's 9:00 timeslot.

I think they should do away with the original programming. TV Land and Nick@Nite were supposed to air classic shows, but with all this original programming, I think that the only place for classics will be DVDs and cable channels like TBS (which, I know, has been airing recent shows latley) and ABC Family. If TV Lan and Nick@Nite aren't going to air classics, than dump the two channels!

And for christ's sake stop whining about Full House... good god. It's going to have 4-hour marathon blocks two nights a week starting next week through Mid-August, and will still air at 9pm and 930pm(except Tuesday), then after that, it's back on 4 TIMES A NIGHT(except Tuesday).

Not to mention it airs on ABC Family too much as well.

Nick at Nite and TV Land are pushing further into original programming, greenlighting a Farrah Fawcett reality series and renewing Bill Cosby 's "Fatherhood" for a second season.

In addition, the Viacom-owned classic-TV channels are developing several event programs to be showcased in upcoming quarters, including a 20th anniversary celebration for Nick at Nite, as well as what could be the Nickelodeon evening block's first original film.

"We want to do big events throughout the year that are bigger than just series," said Sal Maniaci, vp production and development for the channels.


Scheduled to premiere Jan. 19, 2005 and anchoring TV Land's Wednesday programming block at 10 p.m., "Chasing Farrah" will explore, over six episodes, the enduring appeal of the 1970s pinup star, from her family background in Texas to her life on the red carpet.

Back as the anchor for Nick at Nite's Tuesday block in the second quarter of next year is the animated "Fatherhood," which is based on Cosby's best sellers. Thirteen episodes will go into production immediately.

To build on its series efforts, Nick at Nite is exploring its development options for marquee stunts. A likely candidate is a network weeklong 20th anniversary bash in June featuring many of the actors who populate its slate of classic sitcoms. Also being considered is a search for the funniest mother in America, timed for Mother's Day.

Nick at Nite may also get a two-hour original movie, tentatively titled "Family Camp," about a dysfunctional family embarking on a summer adventure.

Already on the schedule for November is "Family Faceoff," an unscripted series in which families compete for the ultimate vacation.

TV Land got strong ratings Sunday for its "Still Brady ... After All These Years" special devoted to the 35th anniversary of "The Brady Bunch." The program netted the channel its highest-rated original program among its target 25-54 demographic.

Now Nick at Nite is going into the reality show business.
I believe Nick at Nite is going to the dogs, literally. I'm sure that they could have thought of more than things like reality shows.
And their 20th anniversary celebration. How many of you all think that some of the shows that put Nick at Nite on the map will be on there??? Shows like Dennis The Menace, My Three Sons, Donna Reed, The Lucy Show, among many many others. I have given up much hope on Nick at Nite now.

Network Follows Iconic Actress in Six-Part Series Debuting Wednesday, January 19



Santa Monica, CA, September 29, 2004 - TV Land confirmed today that the network has ordered six episodes of Chasing Farrah, an original reality series that follows iconic Hollywood actress and sex symbol, Farrah Fawcett, as she goes about her daily life as one of the most recognized stars in the history of celebrity. The series is slated to premiere on TV Land at 10 P.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2005.

Throughout Chasing Farrah, viewers will go on a wild ride with the jet-set actress as she travels from Hollywood to Miami to New York to Texas, replete with an entourage of managers, publicists and film crew in tow. Viewers will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at the actress, who skyrocketed to super-stardom in 1976 courtesy of her role in Charlie's Angels and further cemented her reputation as a sex symbol with the 1977 release of a poster featuring her in a one-piece swimsuit. Among the highlights expected to be featured in Chasing Farrah include: Farrah on the town in Miami as she party-hops and poses for the paparazzi; her visit to the U.S. Open in New York- where the tennis-loving Farrah caused a stir among such luminaries as Martina Navratilova and Maria Sharapova; and Farrah's encounter with a group of New York City Firemen, whom she meets when her Manhattan shopping spree comes to a halt when she passes a store that's on fire. The special will also showcase Farrah as she deals with such ordinary issues as searching for a lost wallet, visiting her parents and getting head-to-toe salon treatments.

"So many of our perceptions of Farrah Fawcett are through the tabloids, quick sound bites on the news and her roles in film and television," explains Larry W. Nick at Nite has ordered up a full season of "Exploding Baloney," a half-hour hidden camera skein produced by "Trading Spaces" team Banyan Prods.

Set to debut in March, "Baloney" features adults playing good-natured pranks on kids.

"Baloney" was part of Nick at Nite/TV Land's premiere development slate, an ambitious push for original fare from the classic TV cablers. Nick at Nite is drumming up adult programming that kids can watch, while TV Land is focusing on shows for tubeophiles.

VP of development and production Sal Maniaci said "Baloney" meets all the creative criteria that made Nick at Nite's first original series, the Bill Cosby animated half-hour "Fatherhood," a hit. The network has already greenlit a second season of the toon.

Nick@Nite's 3rd original series announcement, will be a sitcom produced by Seinfeld alum, Jason Alexander:


Jason Alexander is headed to classic TV channel Nick at Nite to executive produce and direct the sitcom pilot "Let Bob Do It."

Alexander and producer Gay Rosenthal ("Behind the Music") had been shopping the concept since earlier this year.

Hybrid comedy project combines the scripted behind-the-scenes antics involved with the crew of an actual reality show called "Let Bob Do It."

Reality show within the show would revolve around "Bob," an average guy whom viewers get to boss around to take on their dirty work. Bob could be forced to do various tasks at the request of auds -- attend the wedding for a viewer's boss, walk a dog, etc.

Alexander and standup comic Bob Perlow -- who first performed "Let Bob Do It" segments years ago for a daytime talker -- brought the idea to Rosenthal earlier this year.

Rosenthal said casting is under way for Bob, his girlfriend and faux crew members including a cameraman, audio technician and field producer.

"It's an ambitious idea that Jason is very passionate about," she said. "It has the potential to be both great comedy and great reality."

Paul Barrosse and Jennifer Birchfield-Eick also exec produce and Nicholas Caprio will co-exec produce. Perlow will serve as a producer.

"We're really in the originals business. It's not a passing phase, and this is the kind of thing we are looking for," said Nick at Nite/TV Land veep of development and production Sal Maniaci. "Jason is funny and familiar, making this show both immensely relatable and also unique."

Maniaci said Alexander may appear on the series as a recurring character subject to his availability.

"Let Bob Do It" may serve as the companion series to Nick at Nite's hit animated half-hour "Fatherhood," which returns for a second season in May. The network also just ordered six episodes of the prank skein "Exploding Baloney" starting in March.

Casting is under way for the pilot, which will be shot in Los Angeles.

Alexander stars in the CBS half-hour "Listen Up," which airs Mondays.

Rosenthal, who is currently in production on eight projects, is about to wrap "100 Most Memorable TV Moments," a series of TV Land specials done in conjunction with TV Guide, airing in December on TV Land.

Just saw the schedule for April in tvland but what the heck is SCTV? I hope that isn't a stupid question lol I love sanford and son but all but one season is out on dvd. And shows out on dvd should be taken off tv to make room for older shows. I wish some channels would take a hint.

SCTV is not an original. See the March thread for details. It is a sketch comedy from the early 80s.

Just because a show is on DVD, doesn't mean TV Land can't play it. That's like saying, when I Love Lucy is complete, they shouldn't play the show on TV Land anymore. TV Land is a business, too. Not everyone buys the DVDs or even has a DVD player.

I just read all the plans coming up for N@N and what the heck are they trying to do? RUin the channel? It's sad that all the sitcoms may be replaced with all this stupid original programming. But I guess this answers the quesition "What's N@N going to do when they run out of classic sitcoms to show?" Thank god I have TVLAND though, I never had it until last year but I watch that channel more than N@N now. I just wish TVLAND had more programing options rather than the same shows over and over again. They have 24 hours to work with, I just wish they would add show like The Facts of Life, Head of the Class, Charles In Charge, Just the 10 of Us and other classic shows.

TV Land has greenlit "One Night Only With David Steinberg," a talker from the comic and veteran TV director.

TV Land has committed to six episodes of the project. Program is described as a loosely formatted talkshow in which the Emmy-winning comedy writer chats with classic and contempo comedians who got their start on television.

Meanwhile, as part of Nick at Nite/TV Land's efforts to beef up original programming, the nets have appointed Monique Hart and Marco Bresaz executives in charge of development and production. Bresaz will be based in New York, while Hart will be located in Santa Monica as NAN/TV Land's first point person on the West Coast.

Sal Maniaci, VP of development and production for Nick at Nite/TV Land, said the Steinberg series order is part of TV Land's efforts to bring more contemporary personalities and stars to the sked.

"We're not just honoring classic TV, we're celebrating everything TV," Maniaci said. Steinberg is no stranger to talkshows, having starred in parody "The David Steinberg Show," a Canadian laffer set behind the scenes of a fictional yakker. Program co-starred then-emerging comics John Candy, Martin Short and Dave Thomas.

Two episodes of the new skeinskein have already been shot -- one starring Martin Short and the other Jon Lovett -- at UCLA. Maniaci said the idea came from watching the comedy writer host similar discussions at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo.

Exec described the half-hour as "Inside the Actors Studio" only with more of a performance element. "David's show won't be educational or tutorial, it'll be light and conversational," Maniaci said.

Steinberg's credits include exec producing "Designing Women" and directing episodes of "Seinfeld," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Oxygen's "Good Girls Don't." He's also received a pair of Emmys for writing for the Academy Awards in the 1990s.

Maniaci said future subjects could include entire sitcom casts.

Though TV Land was down 8% in its target adults 25-54 demographic year-to-year, cabler has recently made ratings strides with "Chasing Farrah." Reality skein has helped boost numbers by 13% from the previous quarter in key demo and overall viewers.

Before joining TV Land, Hart held programming positions at CBS and Comedy Central.

Bresaz previously worked as a production exec at Lifetime, ABC Daytime and Spike.

NICK@NITE

For Nick at Nite, originals mandate involves developing adult programming that kids can watch in order to cash in on the channel's strong Nickelodeon lead-in. Nick@Nite's programming is "informed by the four F's: family-friendly, funny and familiar."

Original programming for TV-philes is in the pipeline for TV Land. That means a slate of originals centered on all things TV -- including documentaries, mockumentaries, list shows (which have put sister net VH1 back on the map), reality/reunion specs and sitcoms.

Acquired programs will remain both channels' bread-and-butter biz. The originals strategy is designed to take advantage of the large audience watching Nick at Nite, and to give the audience a new reason to watch TV Land.

Nick at Nite, November Nielsen numbers show the it is up 13% in its core adult 18-49 demo year-to-year. Nick@Nite ranks first among basic cablers in the demo during its Sunday-Thursday 9 p.m.-6 a.m., Friday-Saturday 10 p.m.-6 a.m. programming block.

Nick@Nite will shoot for an hour of original programming once every week from 9-10 p.m. for 2004, and eventually expand to the same hour on different nights.


The long-gestating "Fatherhood" is first up, with the animated series set to debut in June. Several companion candidates are in development to air with the skein. TV Land has greenlit the six-seg one hour series "TV Land Moguls," which exemplifies the strategy of targeting tubeaholics. Hosted by Merv Griffin, series--from CBS News Prods.--- profiles TV's pioneering producers over the decades including Desi Arnaz, Norman Lear, Aaron Spelling, Steven Bochco, Dick Wolf, David E. NETWORK STRIKES DEAL WITH LIONS GATE TELEVISION FOR REALITY PILOT STARRING MR. T


Santa Monica, CA, September 12, 2005 - TV Land today announced a deal with Lions Gate Television to produce a reality TV pilot starring the one and only Mr. T, entitled I Pity The Fool (working title). The pilot is expected to begin production in October and features Mr. T in the unlikely role of social scientist as he dishes out advice in classic "T" style to fans in need.

I Pity The Fool blends the conventions of a makeover show with fish-out-of-water conflict, resulting in a humorous twist on the format. Starring Mr. T in the role of motivational guru, the program focuses on specific concepts associated with personal or professional success, such as teamwork or determination. Those themes will be illustrated by hilarious anecdotes from Mr. T's own life, followed by real world situations in which he becomes the catalyst for change.

TV Land has ordered six half-hours that take a "Before They Were Stars" approach to a celebrity's first big break in showbiz in "My Big Break."

First episode of "My Big Break" centers on the career kick-offs of Katey Sagal ("8 Simple Rules") and Jim Belushi ("According to Jim"). Sagal had a role on "Mary Tyler Moore" spin-off "Mary" while Belushi made his debut on the short-lived Garry Marshall sitcom "Who's Watching the Kids."

Coming Off Debut Season's Stellar Ratings, Series Gets Nod for 13 New Episodes

Santa Monica, CA, November 16, 2005 - Nick at Nite has greenlit a second season of the hit hidden-camera series, Hi-Jinks, it was announced today by Sal Maniaci, Senior Vice President, Development and Original Production, TV Land and Nick at Nite. The next thirteen episodes of the series - in which parents play good-natured pranks on kids - will continue to be hosted by Leila Sbitani and will go into production immediately to air in 2006. The second season of Hi-Jinks will be produced by Stone & Company Entertainment.

"We are thrilled that Hi-Jinks was such a huge hit with our audience," states Maniaci. "We knew that both parents and kids would really connect with the show and the ratings prove it."

Hi-Jinks scored impressive ratings in its debut season. In its first six weeks, it averaged a 0.5 among Nick at Nite's target audience of Adults 18-49, up +25% from last year. The series delivered 532,000 A18-49 viewers, lifting +36% over last year, and it averaged over 2.2 million total viewers, up +36% versus year ago. The series has been watched by over 37 million people, including premiere and repeat telecasts.

Each 30-minute episode features several pranks taking place everywhere from homes, malls and even schools across the country. Each week also includes a celebrity prank segment in which famous faces use their talents to play tricks on unsuspecting kids. Academy Award Winner Susan Sarandon, NBA All-Star Chris Webber, actress/model Vivica Fox and The View's Meredith Vieira were among the celebrities who conspired with parents to prank kids.

I am actully suprised. I acctully enjoyed Nick@Nite's Funniest Mom in America. It was an all around good presentation. I laughed almost through the whole thing. the only thing i didn't likie was sanda berhart. i hate her.

For the first time in its history, TV Land is opening its doors to original scripted programming.

Projects in the works include a revival of "Mr. Magoo" and "Us and Them," a laffer from John Markus ("The Larry Sanders Show") and Bill Persky ("Who's the Boss") previously set up at NBC.

Also in development are several reality pilots -- one starring a Dr. Phil-style show starring Mr. T and another about pop culture's biggest jump-the-shark moments -- as well as several specials.

Lineup reveals an expanded focus for TV Land to all things pop culture. Unlike sister web VH1, however, TV Land targets the older end of the 25-54 demo, and execs insist cabler's brand of nostalgia will remain "reverential." Classic TV still will be at the heart of originals, but certain skeins and specs like "Jump the Shark" will embrace subjects outside the (set-top) box.

Robust slate also marks a significant increase in investment from parent company MTV Networks. TV Land dove into originals last year, boosting ratings in most categories. Cabler last month scored an average 1.1 million overall viewers in primetime -- up 36% from the year prior and good for 12th place among all of basic cable.

Sister net Nick at Nite, which also entered the originals arena in late 2003, is doubling its efforts in family-friendly fare. Nighttime network has greenlit an expanded version of the spec "Search for the Funniest Mom in America" to a five-part weekly series set to begin April 11.

Cabler is also at work on a second season of hidden-camera skeinskein "Hi-Jinks," set for February, and is developing a pilot from 2005's "Funniest Mom" winner Darlene Westgor and "Seinfeld" scribe Carol Leifer about Westgor's life as a single mom living and working in Minnesota.

"Both TV Land and Nick at Nite have gained momentum through originals like 'Chasing Farrah' and 'Hi-Jinks,' " said senior VP of programming Sal Maniaci. "This ambitious slate is designed to help move the needle and further cement our commitment to original programming. Our goal is to provide both networks' viewers with originals that they can enjoy alongside the proven classic TV hits."

Scripts in development at TV Land include the following:

--"Mr. Magoo," an update of the cartoon featuring the bumbling undercover spy who thinks he's a goodwill ambassador

--"Harry Cobb," a mockumentary about a filmmaker's journey to real places across America, from Jay Tarses ("Buffalo Bill")

--"Us and Them," a half-hour about a trio of sitcom has-beens who live with an eager up-and-comer, from Markus and Persky.


Also in the works:

--"I Pity the Fool," an unscripted advice show toplining Mr. T and his unique brand of self-help

--"TV Land's Classic Home Movies," a clip show comprised of home movies from classic TV stars

--"Back to the Grind," a series in which TV stars attempt to work the jobs their characters held in their respective shows.

--"You Wish," a wish-fulfillment skein offering average folks the chance to realize pop culture dreams (e.g., having a living room that looks like the Brady Bunch's)

--"Jump the Shark," a panel show based on the Web site of the same name discussing the moments in TV, music and movies when things went wrong.

Already on sked for 2006 are six new installments of "Living in TV Land," which will kick off after the fourth edition of "The TV Land Awards" March 22. First episode follows William Shatner. Other celebs profiled include Barry Williams, Adam West, Davey Jones, Sherman Hemsley and Fred Willard.

the Mr Magoo series sounds different. TV Land Classic Home Movies sounds real nice. I know I will watch that one. And I love the Jump The Shark book better than the site so I might like the show.

April 19, 2006, Santa Monica, CA - Nick at Nite has secured celebrity comic and writer Carol Leifer (Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show) to pen and executive produce the sitcom pilot for Darlene Westgor, who won the chance to develop her own show with the network when she was named Nick at Nite's Funniest Mom in America in 2005. The pilot, tentatively titled Darlene, is based on Westgor's real life as a single, divorced mom living and working in Minnesota. The pilot is expected to go into pre-production immediately with plans to shoot in Los Angeles in May. Gil Junger (Ellen, Hope & Faith, 8 Simple Rules...) will direct. Sal Maniaci also executive produces on the project and TV Land's Marco Bresaz is executive in charge of production.

Set in the Minneapolis suburbs, Darlene focuses on the ins and outs of Westgor's life as a single parent raising two teenagers while managing her job at an Urgent Care Center. Darlene responds to these everyday situations with the wit and sarcasm that made her the hands-down winner of the first Funniest Mom in America contest.

Carol Leifer is an Emmy-nominated writer/producer (Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, Saturday Night Live) who has also written and produced five of her own stand-up comedy specials, the most recent being for Comedy Central. She continues to tour around the country as one of the opening acts for Jerry Seinfeld. She will be appearing as a guest star on Will & Grace on May 4th.

Having worked on over 600 episodes of television, Gil Junger is a veteran producer and director. Directing credits include Hope and Faith, 8 Simple Rules, According to Jim, Dharma and Greg and Blossom. Additionally, Junger was nominated for an Emmy and Director's Guild Award for directing the episode of Ellen in which the lead character, played by Ellen DeGeneres, reveals that she is a lesbian. Gil has also directed feature films including 10 Things I Hate About You.

Darlene Westgor was selected to be a part of Nick at Nite's first Search for the Funniest Mom in America contest and in May 2005, performed before an audience and a panel of celebrity judges - one of whom was Carol Leifer. The judges decided that Westgor was "The Funniest Mom in America." As the winner of the competition, Darlene received a development deal with the network as the top prize. Darlene is the mother of two boys and now has started a career in stand-up comedy.

Back for a second season, Nick at Nite's Search for the Funniest Mom in America 2 kicked off on the network on April 4. Darlene Westgor, last year's winner, makes a cameo appearance in the show when she attends a party with the moms and ends up being a voice of encouragement and inspiration. Hosted by actress Katey Sagal, this five-part reality series will culminate with an hour-long finale on Tuesday, May 9 from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT) in which judges Mario Cantone (Broadway's Laugh Whore, Sex and the City), Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince of Bel Air, All of Us) and Carol Leifer select the winner for 2006.

gearing up for a third season of its reality series competition, "Funniest
Mom in America," beginning Tuesday, April 3 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Real-life
moms looking to try their comedic chops on those other than their kids can
win a shot at this year's title. One lucky winner will win $50,000 plus the
chance to host a special night of programming on Nick at Nite.
"Funniest Mom 3" is a six-part series which follows these moms' journey
to glory. The show follows them from auditions to regional competitions,
where twelve moms advance to compete in the semi-finals. Throughout the
series' six-week run, viewers will get the chance to learn more about these
moms and their families as we travel with them to their hometowns and get a
glimpse at their lives. The series is being executive produced by Allison
Grodner ("Big Brother," "Blowout"). "Funniest Mom 3" is presented by KFC.
Nick at Nite is inviting all moms across the U.S. to send a tape of
themselves at their funniest between October 30 and December 14.
Additionally, beginning November 6, the network will be holding open calls
at various comedy clubs across the country (comedy club dates found below).

TV Land Unveils Original Programming Slate of Pilots and Series to Air on Network Through 2007

NEW YORK, Nov. 13 -- TV Land unveiled a new slate of pilots, recurring series and specials as part of its 2006-2007 original programming roll-out, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land. The aggressive slate of originals is designed to complement TV Land's classic television offerings while underscoring the network's commitment to deepen its connection to its Baby Boomer audience, the first generation of Americans to grow up watching television.

Over the past three years, TV Land has demonstrated an increased commitment to delivering original content that complements its proven classic TV line-up and has garnered several Emmy nods along the way. From the 2005 multi-part original series Chasing Farrah to the star-studded annual TV Land Awards to this fall's Mr. T-helmed I Pity the Fool, TV Land continues to expand its Boomer-centric programming line-up.

The new slate features several notable projects and recurring series including Family Foreman, a reality show focused on the frenetic and incredible life of former heavyweight boxing champion/multi-million dollar pitchman George Foreman and his ten children; The Big 4-0, a look at the emotional and sometimes over-the-top festivities planned for and by Boomers who hit the proverbial age milestone; and the second season of Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg where comedy legends Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Ray Romano and other comic icons spin hilarious tales of their lives both on the stage and off.

The newest slate of TV Land originals is a mixture of pilots and "six pack" episode deals. Complete descriptions are as follows:

PILOTS:

Meet Your Match is the first dating show for people who've been there and done that. Boomers looking for love, interview potential dates with questions that range from the ridiculously shallow to the ethically challenging -- just like a real date. Paul Cockerill (Battlebots and Jimmy Kimmel Live), Steve Lava (Country Fried Home Videos and Maximum Exposure), Wendy Miller and Sue Bailey are co-creators and co-executive producers. (30 minutes)

Family Foreman gives the audience an intimate look inside the remarkable life of former heavyweight boxing champion/multi-million dollar pitchman George Foreman who is a minister to many, and father to ten children -- including five sons named George. Family Foreman is produced in partnership with New Line Productions. The executive producers are George Foreman, Sr., George Foreman, Jr., George Foreman III, Jon Kroll and Jim Rosenthal. The Big 4-0 is a look at the emotional and sometimes over the top festivities planned for and by Boomers who hit the proverbial age milestone. The Big 4-0 is produced for TV Land by 3Ball Productions (Beauty and the Geek and The Biggest Loser).

The Story Of ... takes a fun, in-depth look at the fads, trends and pop culture phenomena fueled by the TV Generation. From disco to physical fitness crazes to plastic surgery, each episode will explore one pop culture topic. David P. Levin of BrainStorm Inc. (MTV's Uncensored) serves as the executive producer.

NEW SERIES:

TV Land Myths & Legends promises to go behind the scenes to investigate the mysteries that have sprung from some of Hollywood's most memorable stars, TV shows, films and music. Who was Carly Simon thinking about when she penned the classic song, "You're So Vain"? Was Walt Disney cryogenically frozen? Did "Superman" George Reeves really commit suicide by leaping from a tall building? Is Gilligan's Island actually a metaphor for hell? High School Reunion finds former classmates and brings them back together 20 years later to pursue unresolved relationships, romance and rivalries. Back to the Grind* allows viewers to join celebrated actors as they perform -- in the real world -- the kind of job their characters did on their respective hit TV series. TV luminaries like Loni Anderson, Harry Anderson, Ed Begley Jr., Mark Curry, Bea Arthur, Betty White, Sherman Hemsley and Erik Estrada will be required to perform the kinds of tasks that their characters once did, only this time, it's for real. RETURNING SERIES

TV Land Confidential* returns for a second season with six more episodes delivering behind-the-scenes tales from viewers' favorite television shows, movies and music. Six-Part Reality Series Follows Real-Life Moms Vying for $50,000 and a Chance to Host a Night of Programming on Network

NEW YORK, Jan. 10 -- Nick at Nite announced today that actress, comedian and "domestic goddess" Roseanne Barr will host Nick at Nite's third season of Funniest Mom in America. The six-part reality series, which premieres on Tuesday, April 3 at 9:30 p.m. (all times ET/PT) follows the journey of moms across the country as they compete for the title of "Funniest Mom in America." One lucky winner will win $50,000 plus the chance to host a special night of programming on Nick at Nite. The series is being executive produced by Allison Grodner (Big Brother, Blowout). Funniest Mom 3 is presented by KFC.

"As America's original funniest mom, Roseanne Barr is our ideal host," said Tom Ascheim, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Nickelodeon Television. "Her comedy and expertise on child-rearing is sure to resonate with these moms as well as our viewers."

The series kicks off following the journey of moms who have been selected from auditions and regional competitions at comedy clubs across the country as they vie for the winning title. Twelve moms are chosen, and through an online component, a thirteenth mom will be voted in via the internet at nickatnite.com. All thirteen of these moms will compete in a semi-final showcase, in which six moms will be chosen to move on to the next round of the competition. It is these six who will compete in a number of various comedic challenges, work with special coaches and prepare for performances where week by week, one mom will be eliminated. The three remaining contestants will compete in the show's finale, performing their stand-up before an audience and a panel of celebrity judges to be announced shortly.

Perhaps best known for her starring role on the hit sitcom Roseanne, one of the most talked-about and celebrated sitcoms in history, the series garnered her an Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 1993. She has recently returned to her roots and began touring select cities in the U.S. and U.K. with her hilarious one woman show. In 2004, Roseanne costarred in the Disney film, "Home on the Range" with Judi Dench and Jennifer Tilly. Roseanne completed twelve children's songs (nine are brand new and original) and produced the accompanying videos in her cozy, family-run and kid-friendly Full Moon and High Tide Studio and released her first DVD for children entitled Rockin' with Roseanne: Calling All Kids!" which hit stores nationwide February 7, 2006.

Barr is actively involved in her production company and enjoys the opportunity to work with her family. FMHT recently produced Roseanne's standup comedy special, Roseanne Barr: Blonde and Bitchin', which aired November 4, 2006 on HBO.
