Navy NCIS (#1: 9.3/14) was #1 in the overnights for the 8pm hour. But 8 Simple Rules was a close second in the 8pm half hour with a 8.2/12 behind the first half of CBS's Navy NCIS (8.8/13) . Among adults 18-49, look for the comedy to lead the half-hour with a 4.2/13 -- eight percent above the first half of Fox's American Idol Christmas in the demo (3.9/12). Speaking as a fan of 8 Simple Rules, a perfectly mixed balance of tears and laughter in the turkey-carving scene proves that this is a series worth continuing.
