View Full Version : It's TOO EARLY to be seeing Christmas Commercials. It's only TVFactFan 11-08-2003, 09:25 AM November 8th. It's not even Veterans Day yet. Nanny Fine 11-08-2003, 09:45 AM Christmas is so commercialized now that they have to be advertising this early to beat everyone else's advertising. Our mall had their Christmas decorations up last Monday. The Modfather 11-08-2003, 09:56 AM Or mall had everything up 3 days before Halloween! *Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-08-2003, 01:07 PM Doesn't bother me :D Mysty Eyes 11-08-2003, 02:06 PM November's not too early to bring out anything Christmas related. Shopping areas are already setting up the decorations and putting up displays of product. In my area, they usually officially "light up" the public displays by Thanksgiving. My guess is that it will a bit sooner this year since Thanksgiving is happening so late in the month this year. Face it... People shop for gifts during this time of year. Many folks have to ship those same gifts to relatives out of state. You have to have your packages ready by early December. Hmm... November too early? Not at all. Besides that, the economy is down, and stores have to compete with online shopping. Commercials have to precede the shopping sprees if they are to be at all effective. Georgia's on my Mind 11-08-2003, 02:29 PM I don't know...but laltely it seems like it takes people longer to get into the "Christmas Spirit" so maybe theyre giving people time to...? who knows. I like Christmas anyways. Brent88 11-08-2003, 02:37 PM My mom has already bought most of the Christmas presents for this year, but the tree isn't going up til Thanksgiving. That is normally when we decorate. fr00ti 11-08-2003, 04:02 PM Hey, I like Christmas. vienna waits 11-08-2003, 04:19 PM nuh uh scrooooooge. :stocking: :rednose: :frosty: :santa2: :cc: present: KerriBerri687 11-08-2003, 04:49 PM :rednose: i love christmas!!! its my fav holiday ...even tho i dont celebrate it Hollow 11-08-2003, 07:22 PM The earlier the better, i wouldnt care if someone put decorations up in january. were getting a christmas tree for my geography classroom next monday. laceyinthesky 11-08-2003, 08:47 PM When I was in Scotland there were Christmas commercials on tv the first week of October. Our mall had their Christmas decorations up last Monday. They do so very, very much commercialized Christmas for stuff like toys, eating, Santa Clause, and things and people not associated with the One, Only, and True meaning of Christmas. The birth of our Savior & Lord, Jesus Christ and the same thing they do on Easter. Colored Eggs, Easter Bunny, Candy, Advertisers scrambling to tickle our fancys!! EricIdlefan 11-11-2003, 09:10 PM Yeah I agree but they publicized stuff that really, really, isn't the true meaning at all!! Ewan's My Man 11-11-2003, 10:14 PM You think YOU'RE malls are bad? Dancing Santa's and ornaments were out after the 4th of July! *Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-11-2003, 10:15 PM Originally posted by Ewan's My Man You think YOU'RE malls are bad? Hawkee 11-05-2020, 04:07 AM The reason why Christmas commercials start airing early around October/November is simply to get people a jumpstart to get ready for Christmas and so that the stores can begin advertising Thanksgiving sales and other holiday stuff. Some commercials are great while others get way too much airplay. Take for example I see commercials for Balsam Hill Christmas Trees and I think Balsam Hill is gonna make a lot of money selling Christmas trees this year due to these commercials and when I was seeing Buzzr I noticed that McCormick has a holiday themed commercial this year and also Ferro Rocher candies has a Christmas commercial too. But as it gets closer to Christmas we will continue to see more Christmas commercials this year become more uplifting and joyful Bestie AMackII 11-07-2020, 06:32 PM Not Really, Holiday Commericals usually pop up from either before or more likely after Veteran’s Day during 1st Half of November until New Years Eve and the wee hours of Early January(possibly either 1st or 2nd) OH Nuts! 11-07-2020, 07:37 PM One of my biggest pet peeves is having the Xmas Season starting before 6:00 a.m. Black Friday, pushing Thanksgiving, a significant and my favorite holiday, into the background. Frigging sick of the greedy commercialism that prompts this. This includes the commercials referenced. mets82 11-07-2020, 10:14 PM I've been seeing ads for Christmas movies, I.E. The Hallmark Channel, for about 2 months. This isn't anything new. I've started seeing commercials for Christmas for maybe the last week and half although I'm not sure. Btw, is it me or did we have a lot of former members on SO? I've never even heard of some of the members that posted in this thread. |
