I really like it, I think it's a film that both kids and adults can enjoy. I agree that the songs are good too. I should probably go out and buy it on DVD. Liza 10-31-2003, 11:30 PM I've always loved this movie. It really made 3-D animation the next big movement, and it did it so much better than Toy Story. It's so styalistic (I love Tim Burton) and I'm also going through a Chris Sarandon phase right now, so I'm watching this one all the time ;) webuster 11-01-2003, 07:20 AM I still haven't bought the DVD- I'll probably go get it soon. someone bought be Nightmare Before Christmas about 6years ago on video and I'd never heard of it, but it's great! Mijada 11-01-2003, 01:28 PM I love that movie. I have a Nightmare Before Christmas lamp in my living room and I always get compliments on it when ever someone comes over. Mr. Stefani 11-01-2003, 02:49 PM It was my favorite movie as a kid. I still like it a lot. I got the DVD the other day. webuster 11-01-2003, 03:12 PM Does the dvd have many special features? sallydoll 11-10-2003, 11:22 AM i like the movie, i like sally (i just which i had the doll but they dont sell her anymore) and i like the songs. webuster 11-10-2003, 02:15 PM Is it true that in america the film has like a gothic cult following now? I can understand how that would happen. I'd love to see Burton do another film similar to this- either a sequel or a whole new film, with this type of model-animation and story. I can't find my video of it but! Mr. Stefani 11-10-2003, 04:58 PM Originally posted by webuster Is it true that in america the film has like a gothic cult following now? I can't find my video of it but! Supposedly. But those little poser kids usually only like it because its "dark". Tim Burton's certainly got a cult-following, I don't know if this movie has one of its own, but it wouldn't surprise me. BTW, Burton's now living in London :) DianeChambers87 11-10-2003, 07:41 PM Ok I must confess something...i am scared ****less of this movie. Man, I can hold my own with hithcock films, the exorcist, even spielberg Steven King movies. But Holy cow start singing "what's this? what's that? " I break down. I saw it when I was six or seven for the first time and started to cry when Jack starts touching all the sleeping children...I was so scared he was going to come through my window and start touching me. I had nightmares with him chasing me, and people being like "it's ok" his voice still sends shivers through my body...and 10 years later...i still can't sit through the movie. There I confessed... Aww, how could you not like Jack? I thought he was so cool when I first saw this movie. He's not an evil character he's just curious and he's just searching for something more. I think you should try watching it again, it's really a great movie, but if you still don't want to it's ok. I myself happen used to be afraid of a movie and it was kind of embarrassing but I'll admit that I was afraid of the Disney movie The Shaggy Dog. I still have no desire to watch it again, it was really creepy, imo. Brian 11-10-2003, 10:26 PM I remember seeing this in theaters. I really loved it. Another film with a similar form of animation is James and the Giant Peach, which I also saw in theaters and was also very good. That's true - but I didn't like that movie cuz it was too dark for that story. (I loved the book and that movie did not do it justice) but artistically it's a good comparison ;) Central Perk 11-10-2003, 10:40 PM Originally posted by Liza That's true - but I didn't like that movie cuz it was too dark for that story. DianeChambers87 11-11-2003, 12:07 AM Larry Paul: I'll try...lol I really don't think I will, like you said I have no desire to watch it again. The weird part is I like all of the other characters, especially sally. I don't even mind it when the kids kidnapped santa claus....geezus but when Jack the Pumpkin king started singing.....:shudders: speaking of Jack who's voice is that? Brian 11-11-2003, 12:16 AM Danny Elfman when he's singing and Chris Sarandon when speaking. musicradio77 11-11-2003, 02:30 PM I have this movie on VHS not the DVD. Tim Burton was a genius after making "Beetlejuice" and "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure". That movie reminds me of the same stop motion animation used for Rankin-Bass TV specials. I love this movie because it's just a Halloween turned Christmas movie. webuster 11-11-2003, 05:38 PM What's your favourite songs from the film? I love Oogie Boogy's song when he has Santa Claus in his dungeon. It's so catchy! Liza 11-11-2003, 06:31 PM Originally posted by Brian Danny Elfman when he's singing and Chris Sarandon when speaking. Kinda weird how well their voices match - for the longest time I thought Sarandon did both. :) http://www.carfax-abbey.com/actorpics/csarandon.jpg Liza 11-11-2003, 06:32 PM Originally posted by webuster What's your favourite songs from the film? Sorry it scared DianeChambers, but I always loved that song - ever since I first heard it in the previews ;) Central Perk 11-11-2003, 08:41 PM Originally posted by webuster What's your favourite songs from the film? I'm not exactly sure what the song is called but it's the one Jack sings after he flees from all his admirers to be alone in the beginning of the movie. Jack's Lament :) Good one! webuster 11-12-2003, 05:35 PM I'd really like to see a stage version made of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's probably be a big-budget show, but it could probably become popular for high-schools to put on as plays (like Little Shop of Horrors). I've never seen a stage show (but I really want to see Jerry Springer- The Opera, if it opens over here) but I'd definitely see Nightmare Before Christmas on stage- especially to see Sally (and her arms popping off!) and the Oogy Boogie Man! Callista Flockhart could play Jack! Liza 11-12-2003, 08:35 PM Originally posted by Larry Paul I believe Tim Burton produced James and the Giant Peach, so maybe that's why the animation is somewhat similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas. I didn't know he did that - but it makes sense. It's disappointing though - if that's how Tim Burton "sees" Roald Dahl's stories, there's little hope for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  I love Tim Burton, I love Roald Dahl. The two don't go well together ;) webuster 11-13-2003, 02:50 PM I still think that Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka needs little improvement- and there's no real need for a sinister take on Willy Wonka (then again- maybe this will be treated differently)- and I would still like to see the sequel made into a movie. The one thing I would like to see that wasn't in the original was the 'square sweets that look 'round'- I still prefer the 'golden egg' scene better to the book's version with the squirrels- maybe they could film both scenes for the film. Also- has anyone seen the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory stage play- and is it a musical? Swimfan85 11-13-2003, 04:43 PM I dont know why but I really dont like this movie, its just one of those things, like when my mom tried to get me and my friend to watch Babe I was just like "this sucks" and left....bad movie Liza 11-13-2003, 09:43 PM Originally posted by webuster I still think that Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka needs little improvement- and there's no real need for a sinister take on Willy Wonka (then again- maybe this will be treated differently)- and I would still like to see the sequel made into a movie. I agree, they should definately make a movie of "The Great Glass Elevator" now THAT would be a great project for Burton ;) Maybe they'll make it if the first movie's a success. I know my highschool did a production of the play - but I really can't remember it that well.
