View Full Version : Cheers or Friends DianeChambers87 10-04-2003, 10:54 PM They don't compare...but i'm curious....Cheers ofcourse. TALLguyinKY 10-05-2003, 05:00 AM Actually they do compare...like a "Friends" article in 1994 once said, "Not since 'Cheers' has there been a show with this golden a camaraderie." :) Moreso in the Rebecca years probably though, since the earlier ones were more "Sam & Diane", and the later ones were a much more true ensemble cast---like "Friends". barwars 10-05-2003, 09:41 AM Friends. my ass Cheers. MaydayMalonesGirl 10-05-2003, 11:10 AM CHEERS!!!!! Nothing compares to Cheers. Brian Damage 10-05-2003, 01:11 PM Cheers Central Perk 10-05-2003, 01:16 PM I think I actually like them both about the same. Dean Winchester 10-05-2003, 03:09 PM Friends by far Chocoholic 10-05-2003, 06:14 PM Cheers. I hate Friends. GoldenFamilyTies 10-06-2003, 08:07 AM Friends... it has a lot more "rewatchability" than Cheers, but both are top notch. I don't think they do....The weird thing is that the Cheers Cast and The Friends cast are around the same age at the time of doing the show.....but um...one casts seems to act a little more adult than the other....mixed in with a LOT of immaturity...the other one just seems kind of too immature and unreal....in my opinion ofcourse...although friends is a pretty ok show. barwars 10-06-2003, 03:19 PM Ill be the first to admit. Friends is the best show I hate. Well, there's really almost a 10 year difference in the ages of the ensemble characters. The "Friends" gang is about the same age now as of the "Cheers" gang when it first debuted, but they were much younger 10 years ago. I can't really agree on one cast acting more adult than one---I see plenty of immaturity in Sam, Diane, Cliff, Woody, Rebecca, Carla...most of 'em, lol. I think that, for the most part, both casts act mature, but of course most of the characters have their moments (Ross and Rachel have stooped to silly levels in the past, but we also remember Sam and Diane "sinking lower than two human beings have ever sunk", lol :p ) "Friends" seems a little more real to me cause of the ease of bein' able to identify with different characters' qualities, but I think "Cheers" is pretty real in that department, maybe just not as much. I hope none of this sounds insulting to "Cheers", cause I do love the show---you've seen me at the board, lol. ;) DianeChambers87 10-08-2003, 04:25 PM lol I kno, and yes the Cheers cast is completely immature...but it's just the living conditions of the friends cast and the way that everything in their lives is just like "Oh financial problems so I have to work in a coffee shop? whatever.." lol u know what I'm saying? and Also I use to be really into the Ross/Rachel relationship...but it got a little too unreal when they had a child together and were living in the same apartment...but yet nothing happened...I mean I am the first to admit that the Sam and Diane relatioship sometimes got to ridiculous measures...but if they were living together they would be all over each other...lol they would just be in the bar together and "hate each other" and still occasionally, surprisingly make out...lol and then screw it up in the end by saying something Lady T 10-16-2003, 12:08 AM CHEERS.... Joker85 10-23-2003, 04:06 PM Cheers. But I love Friends too. Cora 10-26-2003, 07:33 PM Cheers by miles. I used to be nuts about Friends but for me it's been VERY stale since season six. I can't even watch it now, haven't seen an ep since the beginning of season nine. For me it's that bad. :( Maybe it's because I was a Ross/Rachel supporter. I got SO angry at the way the writers treated their relationship I just quit watching after season nine, episode three. Dude111 06-16-2024, 04:54 PM They don't compare..No they certainly do not!! Cheers is much better :) Fallon97 06-26-2024, 12:56 PM Cheers |
