HuntingtonM15 10-01-2003, 09:27 PM It looks ridiculous. TJL 10-01-2003, 09:28 PM Why do I have the feeling this film is going to be a biiiiiig mistake? DarleneIllyria 10-02-2003, 03:24 AM *cough*fugly looking mask*cough* TJL 10-02-2003, 05:34 AM I didn't know Hugh Hefner was directing the Catwoman movie. ;) The Modfather 10-02-2003, 07:19 AM Originally posted by TJL I didn't know Hugh Hefner was directing the Catwoman movie. ;) sinatrastar 10-02-2003, 12:06 PM Meowuck :barf: DarleneIllyria 10-02-2003, 02:36 PM Originally posted by TJL I didn't know Hugh Hefner was directing the Catwoman movie. ;) :rotflmao: Brian Damage 10-02-2003, 03:03 PM I think that's the first super hero who wears open toed shoes. TJL 10-02-2003, 04:45 PM Originally posted by Brian Damage I think that's the first super hero who wears open toed shoes.  Cactus Jack 10-02-2003, 08:45 PM Originally posted by TJL I didn't know Hugh Hefner was directing the Catwoman movie. ;) :rotflmao: W.J. Griffin 10-02-2003, 10:13 PM Really, now...I think you folks are over-reacting a bit, don't you think? I mean, as long as they capture the spirit of Catwoman, the costume is secondary (witness, if you will, the fact that Michelle Pfieffer's catsuit was way different from the ones that Julie Newmar, Lee Merriweather and Eartha Kitt wore...or the ones that were featured in the recent animated Batman series...and all of those are different from the suit she wears in the comic books now {an' if'n y'all REALLY wanna nitpick, remember, the ORIGINAL Catwoman wore an extremely long, tight DRESS!!}) So, in other words...get a grip, already!! At least wait until they actually make the flick before you trash it!! You owe yourselves THAT much patience! Yeesh! The Modfather 10-03-2003, 07:14 AM Originally posted by W.J. Julie, Lee, Eartha's looked fantastic. Not sure about the original outfit because I've never saw it. But Idk, I can't help how I feel about the costume. It looks like something an erotic dominatrix would wear or something. And remember this topic was about the costume. Chris didn't exactly come in here and say 'Damn, I bet this Catwoman movie is gonna blow serious chunks'. Now if he had said that, we would be seriously dissing the movie. And with TJL's comment about 'Why do I have the feeling this film is going to be a biiiiiig mistake?', he's more than likely right. He's read the info I've posted about the movie so far, so he's got the right to express his feelings about it. This movie is a total luck of draw thing. They're either gonna pull out a good movie or they're gonna pull out a bomb. Now if they pull out the ball that has 'This movie makes the Hulk look like movie of the year.' That's when we're in trouble. It just all goes together you know, the costume it's just like the CGI Hulk. It just has to look good or people will diss it. When I saw the CGI Hulk for the first time, I almost fell over backwards. I thought the Jolly Green Giant from the canned vegetables had came to life. And people were sharing the same opinion with me. People said it looked like the Jolly Green Giant, some people said it looked like that thing from Shrek. So the Hulk in the Hulk movie has to look extra good. It's a big part of the flick. I'm getting way off topic, so let me get back to Catwoman. Now the costume isn't CGI or a person or a plotline, but imo, I think to some people the costume counts just as big as everything else. Hell, people might share the same opinion with me this time. The people might think, whoa, am I going to see a Catwoman movie or is this a cleverly titled porno flick? The costume does look like it. Eh, if it's a porno, that costume ain't gonna stay on anyway. Okay, I hope I'm making some sense. Sorry I got off topic. If we still all disagree, lets just agree to disagree. That's the best way to do it. TJL 10-03-2003, 06:26 PM Originally posted by W.J. I think this may be a photo of just one of the costumes she'll be wearing in the movie. If you think of it from a marketing standpoint, the more costumes Catwoman has, the more acton figures they can sell. Putting her in just one outfit (especially with a bikini) will not sell toys. If you think of it from a marketing standpoint, the more costumes Catwoman has, the more acton figures they can sell. Putting her in just one outfit (especially with a bikini) will not sell toys. Maybe not to little kids...adult toy collectors, on the other hand, will turn an erotically designed Catwoman into a billion-dollar sell-out!!(belive me, the designs of female action-figures, usually a hard-sell to kids, have vastly improved over the last decade, and the market for these improved toys is adults...grown men and women who will drop mass dollars on a realistically designed and articulated Catwoman figure when it hits the market!) As for the Halle Berry Catsuit being "over-the-top"...well, yeah it's supposed to be that way. I refer you to Batman # 4 (Winter 1941) in which Catwoman makes her third appearance...she wears a plain green dress and a huge, grotesque, realistic cat-head mask (and y'all think the mask Miss Berry wears is "fugly"...). Also, you must remember that the early "Batman" stories featuring Catwoman aren't quite as innocent as you'd like to think...in her two earliest appaerances Catwoman uses her feminine wiles to escape from Batman, leaving our usually stoic hero standing around all flustered (and poor Robin exceedingly ticked-off!!) Later, when Catwoman accquires the aformentioned long, tight dress (with rolled-down boots, tight mask, and long, green cape), she also carried a cat'o' nine-tails, cat-claws and, yes, even a CATMOBILE!! All to fit in with the "cat'' motif so she could attract ol' Bats' attention! So, belive me, the movies are a poor second to comic books when the subject is "over-the-top" costume design... Now, having said all of the above...I can't help but agree that this new movie just might be a "Biiiig Mistake"...but, hell, I thought that about the 1989 Batfilm, and that one turned out to be pretty cool after all. So I've learned to be patient and see the finish product before I make any judgements about it...that's all I was saying. Far be it for me to tell anyone else how to think. TJL 10-06-2003, 09:46 PM According to Dark Horizons, the film will feature two Catwoman outfits, the already pictured bikini dealy and a more tradtional black jumpsuit. Actually, from looking at the photo on Dark Horizons, it's a little remeniscent of the "X Men" jumpsuits... www.darkhorizons.com phoebe7165 11-16-2003, 02:42 PM I agree with Jenny. It does look like a dominatrix.:whip :whip spunkygirl 11-28-2003, 01:27 AM Yowza, that's a horrible outfit. It seems like it's just to show off Halle's body. |
