View Full Version : For all you guys out there who want to see the "Up in the air" dance scene

Since i have (almost) every TC-episode on VHS, and since I heard that Nick@Nite cuts the best parts out of "up in the air", I took the time today and recorded the full John Ritter dance scene to an avi-file on my comp and loaded it on my webspace for you guys to download.

In order to watch this file you must have the latest (!) DivX-Version installed on your PC (which is 5.05), otherwise the picture will freeze at the very beginning.

as you've probably noticed (or not ;) ) i live in germany, therefore the scenes are taken from the german version of the show (the only difference is that they dubbed the voices over) and from a german tv station (that doesn't cut anything out of the episodes).
but I don't think that it'll matter very much, cuz I think the dance scene is focused on John's visual commedy talents

Downloads
grab the full dance scene here (http://www.brockbert.de/files/dancescene.zip) (10,7 MB)
grab the latest divx 5.0.5 here (http://www.brockbert.de/files/DivX505Bundle.exe) (3,8 MB)

have fun :)

Thanks for the clip, TheBert. It was interesting to hear Jack and Janet's voice dubbed in German as well.

just download the divx file and install it in the default folder. then open the file with windows media player or any other media player. it should work then

I can't get it either. I can hear it just fine in Media Player but I can't see squat. What are all you guys doing?

ok... to extract the file you need winzip. you can download it at www.winzip.com

just follow the instructions to install it. when the installation is finished, double click on the file and winzip should be loaded. then click "extract" and choose the folder where you want the video to be saved. after that you can delete the .ZIP file and (if you have divx installed properly) with a double click on the .AVI file the movie should load.

Okay, beckyc and anyone else that can't get it, I just figured out how to get it! Just because you have DivX downloaded doesn't mean that it's formally installed on your computer.

When you downlaod the scene and get the window at the end that says "dancescene", if you have the Windows Media logo as the icon, you don't have DivX installed. Just right-click the program and tell it to open with DivX (you might have to look under "browse"). You'll get the setup screen for the program. After you have that installed, the windows icon should change to a picture of Jack scratching his nose (or whatever it is he's doing). Then you can set it to open with Windows Media Player like before and it should work fine.

There might be another step in there that I haven't mentioned but it's pretty easy to figure out what you need to do if you've downloaded things before. Hope this helps! peace: :grady:

The guy that is dubbinh Jack's voice is aweful.. he isn't slightly funny and it loses that great John feel

I heard the first line and then turned my speakers down. The voice was bad.

Thank you so very much! I have never seen the complete dance so that was just the coolest! :bighug:

i don't like the german version that much either... not only because of the voices, but also because they add fake laughs to it (because in order to remove the original voices, they have to remove the audience sounds too) which totally sucks...
fortunately i could manage to get or see most episodes in english as well.

it's cool that it finally worked for you, beckyc :)

You mean the modern day verison of the Excorsist? I though that scene was sooo hysterical  He's lucky that they didn't have to rush him to the emergency room after he knocked himself out cold after banging his head. It happened right after when he ran across the floor, climbed up on the chair, and fell over. . :jack

John Ritter knocked himself out cold in the episode "A Night Not To Remember" when Janet leaves to dance with her business date, and Jack falls under the table.
