View Full Version : For all you guys out there who want to see the "Up in the air" dance scene
TheBert 09-29-2003, 03:08 PM Since i have (almost) every TC-episode on VHS, and since I heard that Nick@Nite cuts the best parts out of "up in the air", I took the time today and recorded the full John Ritter dance scene to an avi-file on my comp and loaded it on my webspace for you guys to download.
In order to watch this file you must have the latest (!) DivX-Version installed on your PC (which is 5.05), otherwise the picture will freeze at the very beginning.
as you've probably noticed (or not ;) ) i live in germany, therefore the scenes are taken from the german version of the show (the only difference is that they dubbed the voices over) and from a german tv station (that doesn't cut anything out of the episodes).
but I don't think that it'll matter very much, cuz I think the dance scene is focused on John's visual commedy talents

have fun :)
JamesC 09-29-2003, 03:34 PM Thanks for the clip, TheBert. It was interesting to hear Jack and Janet's voice dubbed in German as well.

beckyc 09-29-2003, 09:02 PM it won't work for me:( on real player, it will only let me listen to it, not see it. and i don't know how to extract it to anything...can someone help?
TheBert 09-30-2003, 12:09 PM just download the divx file and install it in the default folder. then open the file with windows media player or any other media player. it should work then
beckyc 09-30-2003, 03:42 PM still won't work
-Fan- 09-30-2003, 04:16 PM LOL- you seem to be the only one that can't load the clip

hmm... have you extracted the file with winzip before you tried to watch it (i suppose so, otherwise you wouldnt have heard the sound)
DarleneIllyria 09-30-2003, 04:50 PM Thank you! :notworthy: I enjoyed the clip.
beckyc 09-30-2003, 07:08 PM LOL- you seem to be the only one that can't load the clip
well i'm glad you are amused by my misfortunes...
and no i don't think i extracted it because i don't know how to extract it to anywhere. I just clicked open and only the sound thing works. oh well...i'll just stick with Nick at Nite's version :o

I can't get it either. I can hear it just fine in Media Player but I can't see squat. What are all you guys doing?
TheBert 10-01-2003, 02:01 PM ok... to extract the file you need winzip. you can download it at www.winzip.com
just follow the instructions to install it. when the installation is finished, double click on the file and winzip should be loaded. then click "extract" and choose the folder where you want the video to be saved. after that you can delete the .ZIP file and (if you have divx installed properly) with a double click on the .AVI file the movie should load.
beckyc 10-01-2003, 03:47 PM nope still won't work...oh well
honeywell 10-01-2003, 06:05 PM Okay, beckyc and anyone else that can't get it, I just figured out how to get it! Just because you have DivX downloaded doesn't mean that it's formally installed on your computer.
When you downlaod the scene and get the window at the end that says "dancescene", if you have the Windows Media logo as the icon, you don't have DivX installed. Just right-click the program and tell it to open with DivX (you might have to look under "browse"). You'll get the setup screen for the program. After you have that installed, the windows icon should change to a picture of Jack scratching his nose (or whatever it is he's doing). Then you can set it to open with Windows Media Player like before and it should work fine.
There might be another step in there that I haven't mentioned but it's pretty easy to figure out what you need to do if you've downloaded things before. Hope this helps! peace: :grady:
beckyc 10-01-2003, 06:26 PM it says that the divx thing won't work so now i have to reinstall it! :( blah
beckyc 10-01-2003, 06:50 PM ahh i give up. thanks anyway...
beckyc 10-08-2003, 06:34 PM IT WORKED! i was just messing around with it and it finally worked! that was so funny...
Austin Tripper 10-09-2003, 02:36 AM The guy that is dubbinh Jack's voice is aweful.. he isn't slightly funny and it loses that great John feel
BUT the visual is amazing

I heard the first line and then turned my speakers down. The voice was bad.
Danisel331 10-09-2003, 03:44 AM Thank you so very much! I have never seen the complete dance so that was just the coolest! :bighug:
TheBert 10-09-2003, 06:34 AM i don't like the german version that much either... not only because of the voices, but also because they add fake laughs to it (because in order to remove the original voices, they have to remove the audience sounds too) which totally sucks...
fortunately i could manage to get or see most episodes in english as well.
it's cool that it finally worked for you, beckyc :)

Auntie 03-19-2005, 09:30 PM You mean the modern day verison of the Excorsist? I though that scene was sooo hysterical  He's lucky that they didn't have to rush him to the emergency room after he knocked himself out cold after banging his head. It happened right after when he ran across the floor, climbed up on the chair, and fell over. . :jack
Heart Shaped Box 03-19-2005, 09:43 PM The link didn't work for me either! Ah!

John Ritter knocked himself out cold in the episode "A Night Not To Remember" when Janet leaves to dance with her business date, and Jack falls under the table.
