How many of you guys and girls here are Christians? Do you take part in Christian activities like Church, choir, charity events, etc?

I'm Christian and I go to Church most Sunday's, though it's often hard for me to get motivated because I love sleeping in. :p I always go at Easter and Christmas because it's so nice then. For a few months of my early teenage years I sung in Choir but I wasn't very good and dropped out in the end. Singing is not a strong point of mine.

Anyway I thought maybe we could use a thread to share favourite prayers, hymes, and stuff. Anyone game?

I'm also a Christian. I took part in a Christian group in college. I go to chucrch as often as I can. I really wish I could go to the Baptist church in town. My family is Catholic, but I've really become disillusioned with the Catholic Church.

My favorite hymn is Amazing Grace and my favorite prayer is Psalm 23.

I'm a Christian but haven't been to church since 1984 when my Grandma died. I was raised Catholic but I disagree with some of their beliefs so I choose not to practice that religion anymore. I would like to start going to church again but something other than the Catholic church.

I'm a Christian and I attend church on a regular basis. I even attend Sunday School regularly. I'm in the Senior class (high school/college group). I'm also an usher at my church.

My favorite church song is all of them because I love them all and my favorite prayer is The Lord's Prayer.

My denomination is Baptist.

I'm Christian, but I haven't gone to church in a while. I still have the beliefs and I have been baptized, so I consider myself Christian.

I'm a Christian but it's more of a private thing to me. I haven't went to church in about 2 years.

I'm a Christian or at least try to be. My activities as Christian are attending Church, Confirmation class, Catholic School, Mass, Christian Leadership class as well as serving in a Catholic-oriented retreat team. :D

I was born/raised a Christian, a Catholic to be exact... but I do not go to Church anymore. My parents force me to go to CCD, so I can make my conformation, because apparently they don't get the fact that half the time I don't even believe in God.

I am a Christian, but I don't go to church anymore. I don't know why. I guess I just don't feel comfortable in church. A lot of the people in churches anymore are so phony. They use the same tongue to praise God one minute and run you down behind your back the next. And they all try to show off how 'rich' they are by driving fancy cars and wearing fancy clothes. If you aren't rich enough to contribute big bucks to their churches, then you aren't important to them. Sorry, but my Bible tells me that I am a child of God, and that God looks at your heart, not your pocketbook.

I'm Christian. WELS Lutheran to be exact. I go to church pretty regulary. I'm am definitely going tomorrow, we have a potluck, yum. My family is very religious, we have many WELS teachers and pastors in our family. In fact I went to a Lutheran school for 9 years K-8th grade. Although I do have a tendency to nod off during the sermons:blush:.Oh, incase you're wondering WELS stands for Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.:) It is one of the most conservative of the Lutheran churches.

I'm the distant-cousin of the Luthran church, Episcopalian :) Also known as Anglican, we're the church of England - you know, the one the Pilgrams were running away from? ;) I've been going to church my entire life. Not just the holidays, but every Sunday. Since I've moved to college though my church-going has kinda lagged. I really don't like the oncampus church so when I have the time, I'll actually drive the half hour and go back to my old church. When I lived in Germany I attended both the Protestant and Catholic churches - we had this beautiful gothic Catholic cathedral that was built in 1200 :D

I've been a christian my whole life. I don't go to church as often as I should though. I personally don't like my church- it's boring and they've been doing the exact same things for the past 15 years. I was baptized in the LCMS Lutheran church and confirmed in it. I like that denomination, but I just don't like my church itself. Does that make sense? I'm pretty sure I'll stay Lutheran the rest of my life, but I don't know, I might marry a Catholic. It's alright though, because other than the lutheran church, that's the church I'm most familiar with because I know a lot of Catholics. I have a friend who was just confirmed into the Catholic church because she wanted to leave her non-denominational church where the rest of her family goes. Her family is NOT happy that she switched to the Catholic church. It's really sad though, because I was the only one at her confirmation last week. I don't see what the big deal is because she's still a Christian and it's not like she ran off and joined a cult!

My Sunday School teacher is so nice. She asked me whether or not I wanted to leave her class and move to the Men's group and I told her that her class is where I want to stay. She was so happy that I didn't leave her class.

And every month we have Sunday School Union where 6 or 7 churches in our area meet at a host church (on a rotational basis). I don't know when my church will host it, but I've been to the last two to represent my church in competitions like Bible quizzes and stuff like that. :)

I'm a Christian. I havent been to church in a while though. We stopped going when things got really rough within the family. When we do go to church, we go to a small Baptist Church. I miss it there. We should start going again. Anyway...as a Christian, I read the Bible every night or at least I try to. Sometimes I forget but I try not to. And I pray every night and even during the day. It gives me a sense of inner peace and it calms me...

I sure am! I was raised in a Christian home. One of my favorite Bible verses is:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal,a time to tear down and a time to to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

I have many more favorites too.

I LOVE those verses! I have that one highlighted in my own Bible. That is a very comforting verse to me.

I am a Christian, a born-again believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, just frustrated with 99% of this country calling itself "Christian" and compassionate as it dumps 750 tons of depleted uranium onto Iraqi soil which causes children to born grossly deformed and causes major health problems in the men and women who serve. In the past several months I am looking away from the god of George W. Bush and Jerry Falwell and looking more toward the God of Martin Luther King Jr. and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and thinking more about how Christ can help me to DO more in this world rather than "be" such and such.

I read the writings of Matthew Fox for inspiration.

I listen to Iron Maiden for inspiration as well.

I'm a Pentecostal Christian (think Assemblies of God) and have been for over 20 years now. I've studied the Scriptures - which I fell in love with the moment I asked Christ to come into my life, forgive me all my sins, and make me "brand new" in Him - for the entire time and am always learning more and more as I grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ.

I graduated from a Bible College and am in full time ministry today.

I understand how easy it is to abandon local bodies (i.e. local churches) because of all the hypocrisy and false teaching that goes on in the name of Christ. Unfortunately, while I do not for one second doubt the absolutely sincerity of many ministers, churches, denominations, and Christians, I do feel many have compromised way too much with "the world" (as the Bible describes it in so many places).

I do have one question for all of you who claim to be Christians but no longer attend any church. What do you do with the admonition/command found in the book of Hebrews that reads:

"Do NOT forsake the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some is. But instead exhort one another, and so much more as you see The Day [of Christ's return] approaching."

I say don't let hypocrites keep you from enjoying the presence of God that can be so real and wonderful in corporate worship services with other believers. Hypocrites we will always have with us, but remember this simple truth:

You have to be smaller than the thing you hide behind. So if hypocrites are your excuse to miss church, then you might be even smaller than they are. Just a thought, not a condemnation.

I hope all of you can find a good, solid, Bible preaching/teaching church in your local areas.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, B&W. As for the passage in Hebrews, it's in the Bible, so I believe it. I've been a little convicted about not going to church. Maybe it's time to start looking again. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Im Catholic, which also makes me Christian (which some people dont seem to understand).

My mom works at my church (as the DRE), and my family is fairly religious.

I dont have a favorite scripture or psalm, and I dont know much about the bible.
And frankly, I dont care to. I know most of the stories, but the Bible's written to complicated for me.

But I do go to church every Sunday, and attend the Faith Center at my school.

So, I figure, Im not that bad of a Christian, although I regard myself as a Catholic.

I am a Christian. Go to Church every Sunday, and Church trips sometimes. I pray all throughout the day whenever I think of something I'm thankful for or I think of someone that needs prayer, because God said to "Pray without ceasing".
