I just heard that this afternoon. My mom told me. I can't believe it. At first I thought maybe my mom misunderstood because Johnny Cash also passed today. And they were both named John.
But, no we lost both of them. Rest in peace guys.:(

He and Lucy are now making them laugh in Heaven. Still unfair though. He was much too young.

I was so shocked when my dad told me that John Ritter had died. He was only 54, and that is much too young. Rest in Peace.

He was right up there with Lucy in the physical comedy department, which was probably why she loved watching him so much. I loved watching him, too. He will be missed.

Lucille Ball and John Ritter will always hold a special place in my heart. They were two of the best of the best performers that I have seen during my lifetime. I'm just so grateful that I was given the priviledge of watching them. Both of them are severely missed.

He is definitely up there with Lucy as one of the greatest physical comics of all time. Ironic though that he passed away of almost the same thing as Lucy (complications with the aorta) RIP John You will be missed

I can't take it anymore. Too many people are dying. First Katie Hepburn, Bob Hope, then Johnny Cash and John Ritter, now thw Williams sisters' older sister. It's emotionally torturing. I can't take it anymore.:crying:

It is very sad only 54. I was watching E New Live and they kept showing clips of Three's Company and refering to John as him. So I was assuming Don Knotts had died. That wouldn't have surprised me since he is much older. But then they said John and I was in shock.

Well hooray. The Times finally managed to run an obit for John Ritter at the weekend. I was beginning to think they'd not noticed. It's been Johnny Cash all week, but I've got to say - not a fan. I'm really sad about Sheb Wooley though, and there's been no obits for him over here at all yet. I shall start to sulk. :(

Monty Wooley's brother? Nice tribute to John at yesterday's Emmy awards. We lost LOTS of great people this past year!

Son, I think. Singer of One Eyed, One Armed, Flying Purple People Eater amongst other things, but I prefer to remember him for his Westerns. He was Pete Nolan in Rawhide. Nice bloke or so it always appeared. He had his own website of sorts for some time. Wonderful anecdotes and fascinating stories.

You didn't miss much, it started off funny but then got boring like The Oscars. The Ritter tribute was small and incomplete, but at least they singled him out.

It's nice when they do that at an awards ceremony. In the UK we have the BAFTAs (British Association of Film and Television Awards), which are the equivalent of the Emmys, and every year they have a roll call of everybody who has died in the industry since the last year's awards. It's bloody depressing some years, but it's a nice thing to do. The most popular people get the biggest cheers, which makes it sound like the audience are happy they've died, and consequently causes raised eyebrows amongst foreign guests... :)

Yeah, it's the same with the American one, they should hold their applause for the end, as it becomes a popularity contest even after they've passed away. Lucy and Bette Davis died the same year and they duked it out for biggest hand, i hate that!

No argument there, there are too many award shows, it's ridiculous. I used to watch them all but stopped a year or two ago, they usually are boring or have the exact same people winning all the time. But the original four are usually worth seing, Oscar Emmy Tony and Grammy in that order. Oh sorry forgot the best one, The Golden Globes, never boring, new original nominees some times and the people in the audience are usually drunk so they say things they shouldn't!

When are the Golden Globes on? I don't think I've ever seen them. Although I did used to watch award show years ago.

I believe they're on in January some time as they are always a precursor to the Oscars, they've been on NBC the last few years and have gotten good ratings as the show is never boring AND it's the only show that combines TV and movie people together as they award tropheys to both groups on the same telecast.

Two award shows that I never miss are the VMA's and the MTV Movie Awards. They're always so funny, unlike all of those other long, boring award shows, lol.

The VMA's are so disgusting to me. Especially after this past one. I mean, what is the world coming to? All of this freelance kissing is just plain nasty!

I also hate award shows. All that self-congratulation and falseness! And those speeches...

We have a couple of music award shows over here, the BRITS (similar to the Grammys, but much less grand) and the Mercury Music Prize, which are rubbish now but went through a nice patch a few years ago. The guests were only allowed a glass of wine each and some finger food, so enterprising Marky Goodier, then one of the top music DJs, set up backstage with several crates of Budweiser and a steady influx of food from a nearby Hard Rock Cafe. Cue a steady stream of increasingly drunk members of rock and pop bands all sitting back stage with him, giving some of the best interviews they've ever given, whilst the organisers and official interviewers wondered where the hell everybody had gone. There were some very good radio broadcasts from those awards! :) Then there was that time that Michael Jackson decided to pretend to be Christ during a live performance of Earth Song, and Jarvis Cocker told him, in rather a physical way, to stop being such a bloody twit. That was entertaining too. It's all so boring nowadays... :)

Well, i think that's why this sudden urge to kiss people of the same sex, anything to shock and get talked about in the media which is the point. Matthew Perry kissing Doris Roberts of Raymond like that WAS hilarious when she quipped, IT WAS WORTH COMING UP ON STAGE and when Gary Shandling got kissed by The Raymond brother, it also was funny when he said, he is worth every penny, as the guy just got this huge raise.

Matthew Perry and Doris Roberts are the same sex?!

No, i was referring to the ones that started the whole thing Britney and Madonna, then on the Emmy show it was Gary and the tall guy from Raymond, so to be funny when Doris won, Matthew Perry kissed her long and hard on the lips and it was hilarious. She said it made it worthwile to go up on stage.

I think the less of a deal we make of stunts like Britney and Madonna the less they will happen. Nothing is shocking anymore. It would actually be shocking to be unshocking!
But, the Gary/Brad Doris/ Matthew kisses were funny. Like they were making fun of Britdonna.
