View Full Version : John Ritter Memorial
Threescompanyrox 09-12-2003, 03:30 PM OK, I very sure that everyone is terribly saddened by John Ritter's death, because I know today I couldn't stop crying. So I thought, why don't we all say one thing that we like about Ritter, and why we will miss him. Maybe his family will see this and appreciate it. OK lets start now with me:
I really loved John Ritter as an actor! He was my idol, and I always wanted to be like him. I am going to miss him so much because he was soo good on 8 simple rules, and well, thats gone now! John u are the best actor america ever had!
Unwanted Angel 09-12-2003, 03:36 PM I love John because he is the king of comedy and no one can make me laugh like he can. RIP John, i'll miss you. You were a wonderful actor and no one could ever be like you.
w6xrl4 09-12-2003, 03:42 PM I like John Ritter because he seemed like a regular guy. Thanks for the laughs, heaven just got funnier.
The TV Show Guy 09-12-2003, 03:42 PM John Ritter was my favorite actor. I loved all his work. No one could make me laugh like John could. Whenever I had a bad day, I would watch Three's Company and that would cheer me up. I also agree that John Ritter was the king of comedy.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 09-12-2003, 03:44 PM He could ALWAYS ALWAYS make me laugh, and always seemed like a happy, fun person. Him and Three's Company...it's like my medicine. Always makes me happy when I'm sad. I can't believe this is all real. :(

wickthayer 09-12-2003, 04:04 PM Back in the day nothing topped threes company as far as I was concerned. But apart from the comedy he made a name for himself - his role in Slingblade comes to mind.
animalcrackers 09-12-2003, 04:36 PM Mr. Ritter was one of a kind. He reminded me of Dick Van Dyke and his style. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I'm sure he really lit up a room with his humor and kindness. What a shock, he looked so healthly. A very sad day here on Earth, but I'm sure John is making them laugh in Heaven.

According to the fans who have met him, John Ritter did light up a room and was genuinely a nice guy. The following site has some fan accounts.

Crimson and Clover 09-12-2003, 05:19 PM John could always make me laugh. I wasnt around when TC first ran, but I love being able to see it on N@N. Its one of my fav shows because of John. He was the greatest and Im gonna miss him. :crying: :(
Brian Damage 09-12-2003, 05:31 PM He was perhaps the best physical comedian I ever saw.
Marvo301 09-12-2003, 05:49 PM Not only a good actor, but from everything I've seen, heard, and read a good person. Thank-you John for the precious and wonderful gift of laughter! We will not soon see your like again.:(
jax77 09-12-2003, 05:52 PM With my parents being strict, I'm shocked that I was able to grow up watching "T.C." when I was young, (the repeats and the tale end of the show in the 80's) seeing how dirty it was for its time.
Anyway, there are only a few comedians to date that made me cry, not tear, with laughter. Jim Carrey has done it, Peter Sellers, and John Ritter when he was on "TC" -- all have done it once. That's it, just 3 whole times in my life thus far.
"TC" and John Ritter will always be a part of my memories from childhood. I'm not one that saddens a whole lot from any specific death, unless it was someone who left their mark with me in some way -- as "TC" did in being one of my fav. childhood shows.
When I saw the news and his face on the screen with 1948-2003, I went jelly-leg and couldn't believe it.
I would just like to send my condolences to his family and friends and......THANK YOU John for the many memories I have of watching "TC" with my sisters, and for being the FIRST one to ever make me split my sides and cry with laughter. G.B. Always and RIP.
David 09-12-2003, 07:52 PM I just wanna say:
Thank you John for making me laugh. Introducing me to the world of comedy. In 2001, I watched my 1st Three's Company episode, and HE was the main reason. It was "Urban Plowboy", and I laughed more than I've laughed in years. I continued watching TC, and watched 8SR (whole season), and he is an amazing person. Everybody loves you, John. You WILL truly be missed. :(
RIP John Ritter (King of Comedy)
Mr. Television 09-12-2003, 07:58 PM Thanks John. Whenever I felt sad I knew that I could turn on Three's Company and I'd be laughing in an instant. I've followed your career from The Waltons to 8 simple rules and was entertained every step of the way. You were the last person I expected to die. Although we never met, I always considered you a friend. R.I.P. my friend.

I really enjoyed him in Slingblade.
I grew up watching him on Three's Company, and he was easily the funniest person I'd ever seen. Absolute comic genius. He never failed to make me laugh so hard I had to wipe away a few tears. But it wasn't just his physical performances and wit that made me a fan, it was that he was a down-to-earth, real person.. with no air of being better than anyone else just because he made a lot of money and was popular.
Thanks, John.

same here. I would watch TC, and I would turn from sad to happy.
TheHappyBurgerMeister 09-12-2003, 08:23 PM I love John because he is a very talented actor in both comedy and drama. I don't think there's a lot of actors out there who can really do both! He makes me laugh so much on Three's Company and now 25 years later was still good on 8SR. He really makes me laugh OUT LOUD. Not very many people can do that to me! I will miss him a lot.:(
Krisalicious 09-12-2003, 09:37 PM I have an idea. In honor of John's birthday, I say we all throw him a big birthday party on the random board, or if that doesn't work, an aim chat, but I say the random board. What do you all think?
dr frasier crane 09-12-2003, 09:44 PM John was just a brilliant comedian. He has talents that weren't seen since Lucille Ball and I personally think we will never see anyone else like John Ritter. He will be greatly missed and TV will never be the same again.
Goodbye John, we will miss you.
GoofyLucy 09-12-2003, 09:57 PM John was multitalented. I instantly fell in love with 3's Company when I first saw it on N@N. I've even taped so many episodes. He's a great wonderful comedian, but he's done so many other types of shows too. He's more than proved through the years that he excels in everything on TV and in the movies that he has done. I've never met him but heard and read enough about him to feel that he was truly a wonderful human being as well. He will always be well thought of and highly missed by all. :(
Kristina 09-12-2003, 10:05 PM A few years ago I was obsessed with Three's Company so this comes as a shock to me. John Ritter was hilarious on the show and I enjoy some of the movies he's been in. He seemed like a really nice guy and was a great actor. I'll definitley miss him. :(
Montana Ponine 09-12-2003, 10:15 PM John was incredible, never failing to make us laugh no matter what he did. He was brilliant and such a talented entertainer. As Jack on TC, he was a huge part of why the show always felt so safe and so happy to me. Things always turned out okay on TC, and the reason was the great humor and how beautifully he brought it all to life. He will be greatly missed.
kobina 09-13-2003, 12:42 AM I believe everyone who ever watched a Three's Company episode is truly saddened today. We lost a man that made is laugh in such an easy way at the same gag over and over. To think that RF lived longer than Jack Tripper is shocking. Goodbye Jack, The Regal Beagle has lost its greatest customer.
Danisel331 09-13-2003, 01:35 AM Hi everyone.
I apologize that it is such a sad occasion for me to come, but I do hope this little tribute I made will help someone who is missing John Ritter.

I am 33 years old and remember seeing John on Threes Company when I was 9 ever since then I was hooked and my family watched it every week. I love John Ritter he is the most talented actor there is and so funny. He keep me company and kept me laughing everyweek. When I was in the 6th grade my best friend Jamie and I were crazy about John and always went to school the next day saying ," did you watch Threes Company last night?" Because at this time they had it on in my area 2 times a day and the regular time slot. Well my friend always wanted to meet him, but she died of Multiple Sclerosis a year after we were out of highschool. I hope Jamie is getting the chance to meet John now that would make her so happy. I want to thank you John for bringing so much joy and laughter to everyone you touched you truley are a wonderful person I will always love you and be a true fan. Rest in peace John.

laneyday 09-13-2003, 06:42 PM Gone too soon. That's all I have to say. I remember John when he was on The Walton's too. I will miss you, John.
hue_mee 09-13-2003, 09:56 PM I loved Threes Company when it originally aired on the 70's. John was a very handsome young man. His talent shined through his laughter. Seeing him in 8 simple rules was such a treat. Still adorable as ever John captured our hearts and smiles as he appeared on television. John, we love you and will never forget you! Thanks to the wonderful technology of reruns, John will never be forgotten!
John Ritter was terrific. Threes company was my second favorite show. I really loved when he would appear on certain things and I would be like "hey its John". Just seeing him made me smile. I really hope hes in a better place now and he will always be remmebered. Now normally I say George Wendt forever, but today...........Forever John Ritter.:)
RulesFan31 09-13-2003, 10:41 PM Hi everyone,
I was heartbroken when I heard the news yesterday. I thought,
"Wait a minute, this can't be happening." I have cp, and I know
how close people with disabilities were to John's heart. Even though I wasn't a fan of everything he did, I loved him for
spreading all the laughter he could. He was a national treasure.
Goodbye Mr. Ritter
