View Full Version : John Ritter dead
I just heard this on another message board, and checked Reuters and it appears to be true. I can't believe it....
I'm in tears, and shocked. I post mainly at some of the 80's sitcoms boards, but Three's Company was one of the shows I watched on N@N.
My prayers go out to his family and friends.
Crimson and Clover 09-12-2003, 04:37 AM ok i checked Reuters too. oh god i hope its not true. oh sh.it

HIGH ENOUGH 09-12-2003, 05:44 AM I just watched the news and it talked about that. I was in shock! I mean, I like TC. I'm probally going to be moody all day.
Skywalker 09-12-2003, 05:49 AM Whenever I hear about the death of someone famous, most of the time I'm not affected. This is one of those rare times I'm affected. I watch Three's Compan all the time. John Ritter was one of the all time greats. He will be missed.
Zoneboy 09-12-2003, 05:55 AM I can't believe I didn't hear about this sooner, I subscribe to http://www.celebritydeathbeeper.com & they're obviously getting slack. In any event, it is very sad news for all fans of Three's Company.
Rest in Peace John.:(
DustBunny 09-12-2003, 06:16 AM I just heard about this on the radio. I feel so sad. Last nights Three's Company episode on Nick @ Nite (title "Boy Meets Dummy") had a scene where Jack explains to Felippe (sp?) what to do in the event of a heart attack. Too wierd. RIP John you will be missed. :( :(
Cashodeen 09-12-2003, 06:40 AM Yes, I found out from the Chitchat board too. Then I turned on CNN right away, and heard the news there. Here's the written CNN story:
Friday, September 12, 2003 Posted: 5:22 AM EDT (0922 GMT)
(CNN) -- Actor and comedian John Ritter has died unexpectedly after he was rushed to the hospital for a "dissection of the aorta," his publicist Lisa Kasteler told CNN.
Ritter, who would have turned 55 next week, was the star of the ABC series "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter."
In a statement, Kasteler said Ritter was rushed to the hospital after suffering from an unrecognized and undetected flaw in his aorta.
Surgeons at the hospital tried to save the Emmy Award-winning actor but were unable to do so, the statement said.
WebMD.com described an aortic dissection as "an abnormal separation of tissues within the walls of the aorta" caused by high blood pressure, family history of the condition, disease of connective tissue, or severe trauma to the chest.
"Aortic dissection results in a weakened blood vessel wall that may also rupture," the Web site says.
Ritter was best known for his role as Jack Tripper on the long-running television sitcom, "Three's Company."
He was the youngest son of Western film star and country music legend Tex Ritter, according to his biography on ABC's Web site.
John Ritter was born on September 17, 1948. He is survived by his wife, Amy Yasbeck, and their daughter, Stella, and three children -- Carly, Tyler and Jason -- from his first marriage to Nancy Morgan.
FOLrocks1 09-12-2003, 06:52 AM I can't believe it! He's so young and apeared to be healthy. I will really miss him.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 09-12-2003, 07:03 AM I don't want to believe it. My head hurts and my teeth were chattering because I was shaking so much. Why did this have to happen to him? I'm definately going to be mopey all day. :crying:

Me too. :crying: The last time I was really affected by someone's death was Princess Di way back in 1997. :crying: The VERY creepy thing is, I was just about to send John Ritter a request for an autograph! I already had his address written down on my "To Send" list and everything. :(
DetectiveGriffin 09-12-2003, 07:45 AM I am totally floored. Im usually not awake at 5 in the morning, but my med class has study group today. Gosh, when I was a little girl I adored him thanks to Three's Company. I even watched all his movies and recorded them, even though the content should have been little interest to a younger child.
I think some news outlets may have been a bit slow to pick up on it, because they needed to do individual reconfirmations. Country WESTERN star Johnny Cash passed away also, and that may have caused a bit of initial confusion. Sean Connery was once reported to have died several years ago, and it was actually politician Sean <sp>Connelly?
This is terribley sad news for his family and friends. I am very sorry.
Rama Mageesh 09-12-2003, 07:47 AM Man, this is really sad. I have been a fan of his since I was six starting with Three's Company. He was a brilliant physical comic and was also a great serious actor. His biography was on A&E a few months ago and it sounded like he always treated everyone from the actors to the crew with respect. You could tell that everyone liked him.
I'm not entirely sure but I think his youngest daughter's birthday was yesterday.
Too sad :(

I havent been this affected by someones death since George Harrison passed away. That was expected though, this was not. John had so much energry in him and im stopping there cause im crying again:(
w6xrl4 09-12-2003, 07:49 AM I feel so bad for his family and fans. Rest in peace John. You will be missed. :(
SPLAIN 09-12-2003, 08:16 AM So sad, so young. Leaving a wife and four kids. Last time i saw was a few months ago being hilarious on The Caroline Rhae show. He also appeared as the preacher on The Waltons and married Ted and Georgette on The Mary Tyler Moore show, but i will always remember him best as the best part of Three's Company, i LOVED him on that show, he was so great and he deserved every one of those awards.
David 09-12-2003, 08:22 AM This is so sad, and so shocking!
He will always be missed, and I will never forget him!!! :(
tmb110 09-12-2003, 08:32 AM I just heard about it this morning, it's so sad. He was really one of the actors on TV that WAS funny and not annoying. This is such a loss for television and everyone.
Goodbye Jack Tripper. :(

Same here. I think it's really sad when anyone dies, it just has a deeper impact when you know the person very well, or in this case, are a fan. I truly belive that John was one of the funniest men on television and I just cannot believe he's now gone. Rest in peace, John, you will be missed. :(
Madness 09-12-2003, 09:01 AM :crying:I am speechless and will be for a while. He was such an inspiration and he will be sorely missed. RIP John and thanks for all the laughs. It was a priveledge to watch all of the episodes of Three's Company and all of your work. And thanks for making the TV Land Awards great and memorable. This is so unbelievably sad.:crying:
kirkfan 09-12-2003, 09:30 AM I couldn't believe it when I heard it, I was watching MSNBC and read about him on the bottom of the screen. I have loved John Ritter since I was 9 (I'm 33) and watched him on Three's Company all the time. Thank you for all the great memories you gave all your fans John on Three's Company and your other work in movies and shows. I don't know how I will watch a single eposide of Threes Company now without feeling like I will want to cry He will certainly be missed. He was just to young. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. :(

TelevisionQueen 09-12-2003, 09:41 AM Just saw it on the news...mom was like "Oh no, John Ritter died!", and I was like...you can't be serious. I will definitely be mopey all day today too...wow. I wonder what will happen with 8 simple rules...I will pray for his family...so sad. :(

Pavan 09-12-2003, 09:54 AM I'm so shocked. Speechless. No word can describe this. This is the worst news I have heard EVER. I still don't believe this, it's so unreal. 54 is way too early and the weird thing is he has been so active, he was on ET a few days ago, did that ABC Primetime Preview Weekend on Sunday at Disney's California Adventure theme park, etc.
I've followed John's career VERY actively and brought news about him on the internet as well, since he was so active it was hard to keep up. I'm going to have a hard time dealing with this, because it is just too unreal.
Hopefully ABC has an 8 Simple Rules marathon later on and Nick@Nite or TV Land should do a Three's Company tribute. Every channel should do something--that's how much this guy has done. He was the nicest guy ever in Hollywood.

I couldnt agree with you more Pav.
:( :crying:
JWood201 09-12-2003, 10:47 AM My mom called this morning and woke me up to tell me because she didn't want me to hear about it and get upset. What a thing to wake up too...
He definitely was the nicest guy ever - I got to meet him about two and a half years ago and he was so sweet. I still have the flower he gave me because it was my birthday. I regret I never sent him a letter thanking him for being so considerate and sweet.
So horrible. I can't believe it because he was so young and, like some of you have said, seemed so active and healthy.
Lots of prayers and sympathy go out to his family and friends...
dlemond 09-12-2003, 10:49 AM This is sad, terrible news.
I can't believe it.
God bless you John Ritter.
Thanks for all the memories.
You will be sorely missed and always remembered.
DVDFreaker 09-12-2003, 10:54 AM When I saw the words "John Ritter Dies" on American Online, I was like "I hope they're talking about a different John Ritter" and I was SHOCKED to find out it's that John Ritter...soooooo sad! He was one of my favorite actors and his birthday is 3 days before mine and we both have the same name. I am going to miss him! Rest in Peace, John!!!!!!! :(
As for 8 Simple Rules, it's going to be canceled, it isn't going to be the same without John! :(

You selfish ingrate. A man is dead and you're worried about what will happen to his sitcom?! By all means, think of his family now, NOT his sitcom.

No so fast- I understand the sentiment, but it is a relevant question for several reasons. First, think about the other people on the show (cast and crew)- a group of people working on a show really become a family. Its always very hard for these people when show ends, much less like this. Add to that that the lead on the show (John) was a well loved guy- this makes it even harder.
Also, from the point of view of the fans- this is the way an actor connects to his fans and vice versa. While that 'connection' or relationship is kind wierd at times, the feelings it creates are genuine.
Just my 2 cents.
DVDFreaker 09-12-2003, 10:58 AM Whoops, I meant to say, I bet it is going to cancel.

When I turned on my computer and I saw it, I too thought at first it had to be another John Ritter-I haven't been this affected by the death of a celebrity since John Lennon died-I am in total shock.
Three's Company was my favorite sitcom during the time it was on in the 70's and early 80's and John Ritter made it all happen. He truly belongs among the all time TV greats including Lucy (who also was a big TC fan and once hosted a retrospective special). Like Seinfeld did in the 90's, TC and John Ritter brought many funny moments and helped me forget or at least not think about so much any troubles I was going through at the time.
I hope ABC will do the right thing and end production of 8 Simple Rules-it cannot be done without John.
Rest in peace, Jack and maybe now you can tell Roper the truth!
Brian Damage 09-12-2003, 11:17 AM R.I.P. John :(

I think so too. I may be a John Ritter fan but I honestly didn't care much for 8 Simple Rules. I'm not saying it'll probably be canceled because I'm not a big fan of it, I just think it will/should be canceled because John was the star and fans of the show would feel that the show isn't the same without him.
I sure hope N@N does a tribute to John.
Pinkerbell 09-12-2003, 11:40 AM :crying: I am both shocked and saddended by this news. I read it first thing this morning when I got to work. I loved this show, and John Ritter was a wonderfully funny man. He was also in Slingblade, one of my favorite movies. He will truly be missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
flutterby01 09-12-2003, 12:06 PM This is such a sad day! I just heard the news this morning on CNN. I am still in shock! When I tuned in, I didn't want to believe it was John Ritter they were talking about. John Ritter was one of my all-time favorite performers!
RIP John
Heidi Dawn 09-12-2003, 12:10 PM I was so sad to hear about John's sudden death. I grew up watching reruns of Three's Company and followed his career throughout his tv series, including 8 Simple Rules. For those of you who don't know, John guest-starred on MASH back in 1973, playing psychotic patient Private Carter. 8 Simple Rules won't be the same, so I hope they don't do what Petticoat Junction and Chicho and the Man did: replace the main characters and get cancelled a year later.
Stormtracker TF 09-12-2003, 12:13 PM What a loss... I was shocked when to hear he had died. John was a great, funny actor, one of my favorites. He was awesome on Three's Company.

keithrobbins 09-12-2003, 12:23 PM This is my first post, and to be quite honest, it's john who made me take the time to register. When I heard this i was in shock.. m heart has sunk so low in my boddy.. and i feel so overwhelmed by sadness.. I pray john is in a better place. John hass kept me company on many lonely nights. He has made me laugh, and feel feelings of warmth through his portrayel of Jack Tripper, and you could see that warm personality shine through in interviews.. and other tv appearences. I trully wish he is in a better place, and that his familly is comforted. There's so much i want to say.. but all i can think of is being sad at the moment. I love you John.

chicosladyfair 09-12-2003, 02:03 PM This is so sad and shocking. There are some things that the heart and mind have a hard time grasping...this is one of them.
John was such a versatile and talented actor...he took on many roles...from Jack Tripper...to the role of L.Frank Baum (the man who wrote The Wizard Of Oz)...to his role in Stephen King's "It" and his role in "Slingblade".
Even thought this is such a tragedy....I look at the gifts he left for us that are priceless.....laughter...humor....inspiration.
Rest In Peace John....we'll always love you.

nightc1 09-12-2003, 03:28 PM This morning on the way to work I heard it on NPR after they had a few stories on other people who had died including Johnny Cash. While I, like most people, never knew the man... I really enjoyed John Ritter's work on 3's Company as well as quite a few things he's done since then (including of course 8 Simple Rules). I was going to come by this board sooner (as this is why I joined this site)... but it's overall been a sad day and knew the rest of you peeps would probably be as shocked as I was.
For anyone who prays, say a prayer for John and his family.
Even though I didn't know him... like most people here I think... I kind of feel like I did.
Rest in peace.
The TV Show Guy 09-12-2003, 03:36 PM This is such sad news. John Ritter was my favorite actor. My sister called me up and told me that he passed away. I didn't want to believe it. I was so shocked and speechless. He was way too young. R.I.P. John Ritter. You will live in our hearts forever.
Mickey 09-12-2003, 03:41 PM Yes, this is very sad. Because we had our own version of Three's Company in the UK (Man About The House), it's only comparatively recently that we've had the American version. I loved it, and it's a shame it's been off our screens over here for so long. I'm always being surprised at the unexpected places John Ritter pops up - Starsky And Hutch, M*A*S*H, The Waltons - an episode of Kojak I was watching just the other day. And Buffy of course, where he made a terrific guest appearance a few years back. I was amazed when I heard the news.

Good Day Live R.I.P. John Ritter you will be Missed.
Hello, I don't normally post here but i had to add my condolences John Ritter was a truly gifted comedian and dramamtic actor he will be missed
Impressions 09-12-2003, 04:09 PM It's hard to believe that John Ritter has passed away, his death seemed so sudden, he died at a young age. When I first heard the news, I couldn't believe it was true, I was it total shock and surprised. He was truly one of the best physical comedians in TV history and he seemed like a very nice and down-to earth guy. It must have been hard for his daughter on her 5th birthday, to learn that her dad had died and even worse on the set of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, think of how all of the cast members had felt. Speaking of cast members, I also wonder how the cast members of Three's Company took the news. I must say that I really enjoyed his work on Three's Company and on 8 Simple Rules, he was one my favorite actors of all-time, I'm looking foward to watching the tribute on TV Land and Nick at Nite on September 14th.
R.I.P. John Ritter, you will be missed. :(
denvercenter 09-12-2003, 04:19 PM I was listening to the radio and Tex Ritter, John's Dad was at some event with him and who else was there but Johnny Cash. It is a small world. John Ritter remembered for his great comedy and Johnny Cash for his music.
Heather Hartnett 09-12-2003, 04:23 PM Wow. I am absolutely stunned. I just came home from school and my mom told me the news and I felt the need to come on here to find out more. As you know, I'm rarely on the boards anymore, but I just had to come on and share my condolences. I just can't believe it. Sorry everyone...I know this must be hard for all of you. I know that I will be mourning for a long time as I'm sure you all will.
Try to be happy and remember John, such a talented kind-hearted man. He will always make us laugh.

beckyc 09-12-2003, 04:40 PM I was on the bus on the way to school when two girls i know were sitting behind me and they were talking and I heard them say John Ritter. I was trying to sleep but once I heard them say his name, I was all ears. And then they were talking about his death and I was like, WHAT? I didn't believe them at first. Then in my first class my teacher said it, then all my teachers said it and i believed it. I hadn't cried though. I was shocked that I hadn't cried because I always get sad when someone dies that I love. And then I came to this board and I saw all the posts and the pictures of him on the side as avatars and it finally sank in. I just started crying. It's really nice to know that so many people loved John as I did. I know he's in a better place. RIP John Ritter. It's going to be hard for me to watch Three's Company now. :(
Janet Tripper 09-12-2003, 04:41 PM RIP Jack Tripper!:(
Three'sCompanyrules 09-12-2003, 04:46 PM My thoughts and prayers go out to John's family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
RIP John Ritter.:(
Austin Tripper 09-12-2003, 04:47 PM I heard this this morning at 5:23am eastern time :( I was in total shock! I didn't believ it.. I had to change the channel and then again I saw a quick story.. with the date of his birth & death..
I quickly woke my brother up even though I knew he had to get up in a few hours.. and just told him " you will never believe who died" :( I told him.. and he didn't believe me.. I told him 5 times " I swear to god.." then he was in shock.. tried to sleep for 5 minutes.. then came out to the TV room and we were just in shock while I change each channel..
well I started taping EVERY mention.. any story of John's death from 5:45 - NOW (4:30 pm eastern time).. I know they are going to have allot more tonight..
:(
But I have to say I was born in 1971.... and Three's Company was the first show I watched from the very first episode.. to the very last! .. and I knew this was a life changing experience.. I knew this guy John Ritter was tops.. and really so skilled.
Till this day.. I have NEVER seen a TV show as funny.. as touching ..and as silly all wrapped into one tv show.. thats impossible if you ask me.. BUT it all happens because of John Ritter! :)
I have never watched a TV show so closely.. My brother(who is 29 years old) and I just LOVE & Respect this man..
as a Kid.. I looked at Jack as my older Brother! I looked up to him.. HE has been my only rolemodel! I got into cooking because of him.. I have always thought of him I would say daily..
:)
I would think of all the funny amazing moments.. I saw from him. but at the sametime the Pathos he showed.. just how funny ..then sincere heart felt feeling in his acting.. wow what range
Jim Carey today has tried to be "john ritter" with this acting talent.. Truman Show, Mr Majestic & The Mask... all would have been A List Projects for John Ritter! He has these skills to pull them off.. not Jim Carey.. he is a poorman's John! BUT hey he is younger & Hollywood changed and NOW gives major projects to TV Actors.. back in the 1970's-80's you were "black balled" from major Movie Projects.. you were considered a Tv Actor..
IF John started Three's Company in 1985.. he would by it's 3rd or 4th year.. He would have been in that (bruce willis.. lets take a chance on a TV guy.. and put him in Movies) John Ritter would be in HUGE HUGE Movies! .. and he would be winning Oscars!
But he was in a different Hollywood..
But thats ok :) John is not loved for just his work.. but for touching normal humans.. and being called the NICEST Man in Hollywood!!!!! :): Watch all the TV shows .. everyone from Stiff News People to reporters.. to other actors.. all say he was SO LOVED! :) SO NICE :)
John I just want to say I truely LOVE YOU! You have brought so much Joy in my life!
Your the best!
:)

It is not a relevant question at all. What happens usually when the star of a show dies? It's cancelled.
Mr. Bufpuf 09-12-2003, 05:00 PM Just as most social activists are poor actors, most actors are poor social activists, and to draw parallels misses the point.
The point is, why should one death be considered more tragic than another, based on public displays of grief for an actor no one has met?
Thousands of young people die every day whom I've never met. That's tragic. I do not consider Mr. Ritter's death any more sad than the death of any of the other people I don't know.
sick gambler 09-12-2003, 05:01 PM It's very sad what has happened to our pal Johnny who most of us grew up watching. He has put a lot of smiles on our faces and has made us all very happy. He was so talented, and no one i know has ever said anything bad about, or has said he is not funny. He was so lovable, and one great guy too. I can't recall ever seeing a nicer guy than Jack Tripper. He was always so jolly and full of life.
He will be sadly missed.

Sean Snow 09-12-2003, 05:22 PM I was...so shocked when I heard it. I couldn't believe it...he's just too young and too great of a person. I already miss him so much. He seemed like such a great guy who just wanted to make everyone laughed. Hollywood will definitely miss him.
I found out this morning when my mom told me. I was really shocked, and all I saw on the TV was the scroll on CNN and Good Morning America which said John Ritter was dead at 54. I couldn't really believe it until I got home today and saw a segment about his death on CNN. I'm still in shock.
Ms LennonMcCartney 09-12-2003, 05:23 PM Hola amigos:
I heard the sad news on the Today morning show. At the begining I couldn't believe it.
Last night I was watching Three's Company on Nick at Night I was laughing so hard with John's acting. He was wonderful actor and commedian. One of the best.
God bless him. Peace and love to John.
Te queremos John ! We love you John !

This is so sad and shocking.
Rest In Peace John....we'll always love you.
sweetlilnala 09-12-2003, 05:47 PM :crying: It's so sad that John Ritter died.:( It's also shocking,I still can't believe he died,it doesn't seem real. John Ritter is one of my favorite actors. I'm going to feel sad watching Three's Company tonight knowing that John is dead. :( I think N@N should do some kind of tribute to him. My thoughts go to his family. RIP John.
dandelion wine 09-12-2003, 05:58 PM I heard about this maybe 10 minutes ago. I... don't even know what to say right now. The last time I was hit hard like this Phil Hartman had died, and now John Ritter's gone, too? I grew up watching him on Three's Company.. I am in shock, and right now I feel like crying. :(
My most heart-felt condolences go out to his family.
FoxTailMusic 09-12-2003, 06:25 PM I can't believe the great John Ritter has passed away. He, in my opinion, was the greatest male physical comedian of all time. I would rank Lucy as the best physical comedian of all time and John a close second. He will be missed but never forgotten. R.I.P., John. You gave us a lot of laughs and smiles over the years and I will never forget having the privilage of watching your work growing up in the 80s with the reruns of 3's Company and your brillant work in the 90s and beyond. 8 Simple Rules was funny and that show tells you all you need to know about the greatness of John and how he was still able to make us laugh after all these years. And he also seemed like a really nice guy. Someone you would want to have dinner with and know that he would entertain you throughout the dinner. I bet he had a lot of great stories to tell and I only wish I could hear him tell one last one. We love you, John.
tooteaching 09-12-2003, 06:41 PM I was quite shocked by the loss of John Ritter. This was clearly a man who was never given half the credit he deserved for his work. The man was a genius.
Ritter proved he do physical comedy. His performances on Three's Company were so brilliant it was like they were coreographed dance numbers.
Ritter also proved he could do drama. His work on Hopperman and in Sling Blade were amazing. I personally watched Sling Blade half way through before I looked closely and realized I was watching John Ritter!
He always seemed like a simple, quiet man who was dedicated to his craft. Never much of a celeberity really. He always seemed to place the work first.
A star in Hollywood is gone today but Ritter's star will shine in the heavens.
My condolences to his wife and family.
May he rest in peace.
Krisalicious 09-12-2003, 06:43 PM I still can't believe this. It messed up my entire day. I went downstairs this morning and my mom told me. This is so tragic....especially because he was fine before and he just suddenly died of a heart attack. I'll never be able to watch my Three's Company tapes the same way again. I'll think "Oh, John's so funny, there should be a TC reunion!" Now, that's impossible. I'll miss his work and him too. He is so talented, which is why he is my favorite actor out of all the actors on Three's Company. He's the most talented, IMO. Rest in peace, John. :crying:
Oh wow..I still can't believe I just said that. I'm still in a state of shock. *sigh* Tonight, I'm going to watch as many of my TC tapes as I can, of course, those themed around Jack though.
John Ritter is such a talented actor and comedian and he will always be remembered.
TALLguyinKY 09-12-2003, 06:44 PM I've only posted here a few times---I'm usually postin' at '80s sitcoms---but I do watch TC every night from 3-4 when I get home from my 2nd shift job.
I've felt a li'l strange all day with John and Johnny Cash gone, and I hadn't cried. But then I came here to the board and read these 6 pages of messages from John's #1 fans (gosh, I'm gettin' all tear-eyed again just typin' that :crying: ), and see how much you all admired and loved him and cared for his gifts.
These messages made my throat feel tight and my eyes tear up, and while I've always enjoyed John's performances, I feel sorry for those of you who looked to John as your most beloved favorite actor because I can only imagine what it'd be like if I heard one of my dearly beloved favorite actors from TV passed on. :(
John's family and friends, and you, his biggest, hard-core, most devoted fans---my condolences and thoughts are with you all.

What a wonderful post! Your words are very touching to read, and I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to stop by here to post them. There have only been two other times in my life when I've been touched this way: Bill Bixby and Phil Hartman.

Thanks insomniac...I feel humble readin' your response to me and seein' that you were touched. Since we're all such TV-lovers, I think we can all imagine what this would be like for any of us concerning someone we admire. We're all like a big family in front of a wall of TVs, each watchin' our favorite shows and laughin' together...
And it wasn't at all a burden to "take time" to post here...John was a blessing to comedy, and he makes me laugh many a night.
Karen64 09-13-2003, 12:11 AM Rest in peace, John! You will be sorely missed. You were an exceptional actor and human being! You had a unique talent and gift of laughter! We miss you, man!
I remember watching John on TC from the start; I was about 13 or 14 when the show debuted..I loved that show!
I was over at the "Find A Grave" site and John already has 427 flowers/messages on the board thus far!
aterzino 09-13-2003, 01:00 AM He's watching over us right this moment.
kalojado 09-13-2003, 01:15 AM I posted this on another thread, but wanted to post it here too...
This truely is a horrible day. I was online this morning before work and didn't see anything about it, but on the way to work, I was listening to Jim Rome and heard that some anonymous emailer said something negative about John and Rome went off on the person saying that it wasn't right, the guy was a good family man, and the guy had just died. I was about to pull the car over right there. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So I tuned into the other talk radio stations I have programmed in and waited until the news came on and sure enough they mentioned John's passing.
I usually don't get this way about actors passing away, though I have felt sad for some, but with John, I don't know, he just seemed like one of those genuine good people. He never really was part of Hollywood scandals (minus the whole Suzanne Somers fiasco way back when) and you didn't hear people say bad things about him. I think he was one of those rare nice people out in Hollywood. I for one will miss him. I think it is horrible the way he died, and I send my condolences to his family and friends. I think John will be missed by many people and our prayers go out to his family. I just want to say thank you for all the laughs, and you will be sorely missed.
R.I.P.
LucyFan 09-13-2003, 02:35 AM I absolutely loved watching John Ritter. He was such a talented YOUNG man with alot of warmth. He's was my kind of an actor. He was funny, hilarious - he had it all. We will never see another one like him EVER.
I guess Heaven will be a lot brighter now since John is there with the great Lucille Ball.
Austin Tripper 09-13-2003, 03:37 AM I am being Honest here... John Ritter is the ONLY person I truely care about.. that he died.
I am still in shock.
He was like my older brother.. or friend!
Jack Tripper to me was & is.. the best character I have ever seen in any form of art.. TV or Movies
I worried about this day coming.. but I thought it would be when I WAS 54 years old !!!!!!! NOT him :(
wow I miss him already.. damn
I actually today.. talked to him for a moment and told him.. like he can hear me now.. and everyone now..
That I truely loved him... and just how special he was in my life
Lady T 09-13-2003, 03:41 AM May John Ritter rest in peace....God bless him and his family..and John...thank you for many years of laughter..God Bless..you will be missed...but I am sure at this moment..you are making the angels of heaven laugh:lol:

I'm always being surprised at the unexpected places John Ritter pops up - Starsky And Hutch, M*A*S*H, The Waltons - an episode of Kojak I was watching just the other day. And Buffy of course, where he made a terrific guest appearance a few years back. I was amazed when I heard the news.
Your right, he showed up everywhere! (It's weird putting that in the past tense.) He was especially good in his Buffy appearance. He played her dad. He wasn't just a good comedian, quite an actor also.
