Mijada 09-03-2003, 02:04 PM I used to drink regular but switched to diet when I started gaining a few pounds. I was surprised that I was able to get used to it right away. I don't even crave the regular stuff anymore.
I can't stand diet I only drink regular.
Central Perk 09-03-2003, 03:11 PM Diet Soda tastes worse than regular soda, imo. I also agree that it has a weird aftertaste too.

Krisalicious 09-03-2003, 06:19 PM I don't like diet soda. Since there are no calories or sugar or anything it tastes really bad, so I pick regular.
Kay Scarpetta 09-03-2003, 06:19 PM I drink Diet. I don't like the calories in regular soda, and it's too sugary for me.

Kristina 09-05-2003, 10:56 AM I drink like 5 sodas a day, yeah that's not good for me. But I drink Diet, if I didn't I'd be an overweight pig. And Diet sodas have always tasted better to me, regular soda is either too flat or really sweet.
*PinkLady* 09-05-2003, 11:04 AM Regular. I do like diet, but it has a weird aftertaste.
Polniaczek033 09-06-2003, 12:27 PM regular soda is too nasty. diet soda is better, it doesnt ahve an aftertaste, it is less fattening and less calories, and taste so much better, and it doesn make me sick! lol
Fleet 09-06-2003, 11:06 PM Well, I'm not overweight so I don't drink any kind of diet soda.
But I don't like soda straight from a can or bottle. I prefer it with some ice to dilute it a little (and in a glass).
Lady T 09-06-2003, 11:12 PM I prefer regular soda..I do not like the taste of diet soda at all:)

I couldn't agree more. I don't drink Cokes as much as I used to, but there is no way I'd turn to diet if given a choice between the two.

True, but that's why diet soda was put on the market in the first place.

HuntingtonM15 09-08-2003, 03:28 PM Ever hear of aspartame know-it-all Kristina? It is found in many products that are artificially sweetened, including diet sodas. Just look it up and see what you find. Here is an example:
Aspartame is, by far, the most dangerous substance on the market that is added to foods. Aspartame accounts for over 75 percent of the adverse reactions to food additives reported to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Many of these reactions are very serious including seizures and death as recently disclosed in a February 1994 Department of Health and Human Services report.(1) A few of the 90 different documented symptoms listed in the report as being caused by aspartame include:
Headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain.

My mom remembers when it came out (I don't remember if I was around when it came out), and she said diet soda was put on the market for people (usually women) who were interested in watching their weight (or figure). This can be found in many magazines of the time (when diet soda was introduced)... the producers of the product would praise "no calories" or "one calorie" for those watching their weight.

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot there were bad side effects from it. I get sick of diet sodas anyway, need something else. I suppose we now know the FDA is the one who put the DIE in Diet Pepsi.:barf:

Well you shouldn't post it on a public forum if people aren't allowed to voice their opinions. Huntington said one thing about diet drinks being gross and u blew up. Not everyone is going to agree with you. He is much more nicer about it then you were.

My aunt also told me it can burn holes in your stomach lining... yuck. Is that true? No wonder she gets on me for drinking Diet Coke..

Well, anything carbonated probably could. Though, it really depends on the person. People who have problems with reflux could easily be effected by it. But, I don't know if it's so much the stomach. I think it is more the esophagus. The stomach has a mucous lining which protects the stomach from it's natural acids. A lot of acidic foods can harm the esophagus, which is really bad because it's a main part of the digestive system.

Yeah, it basically does. If you never had any burning pains after drinking it, then it probably doesn't affect you.
well *coughs* anyway, I can't drink diet - it just tastes yucky to me. Regular coke, all the way
