Even though Boston has the easiest schedule for the month of September, I don't believe that they'll make the playoffs this year. I just can't see Seattle missing out on the playoffs two years in a row, and I seriously doubt that the A's wont make it. They are just way to good in September, so I have to go with Boston.

It looks like it's no longer a three team race. The Yankees lost to the Red Sox tonight, so now the Sox are only two and a half games behind them. There is a very good chance that the Yankees will miss out on the playoffs this year. The Sox still have two games to play with them, and if they win both games, they'll only be behind by a half a game. As much as I dislike the Yankees, I hope they win the final two games. The race between the Mariners, and Boston is way to close for comfort for me.

It definitely isn't looking good for Seattle. Even though they're on a four game win streak, and only a half game behind Boston, with two of Seattle's final series' being against Oakland, and with Boston seemingly having a cakewalk of a schedule for the remaining games, it doesn't look good. Out of loyalty, I'm still picking Seattle to make it, but it is going to be a total uphill battle.

Explanation for #1.....

Seattle can't cut into Boston's Wild Card lead matching them win for win because the Red Sox will still have a 2.5 game lead. Boston has an off day coming up while Seattle has to play that day and if Seattle loses, then Boston will gain another 1/2 game lead on Seattle, which will put them in a deeper hole than they're already in and will in effect, eliminate them for playoff contention.

Explanation for #2......

Going back to #1, the more losses for Seattle, the closer Boston gets to wrapping up the Wild Card. Seattle needs to hope for a severe losing streak for Boston and a winning streak for themselves.

Explanation for #3......

Boston has won 4 of the 6 meetings this year against Seattle (including a 3-game sweep of Seattle at Fenway Park).
