When "Dallas" first started, it used to show Ray and Lucy going into the barn to fool around. A few years later, it was revealed that Ray was Jock's illegitimate son, and Lucy's uncle. Wouldn't this have been kind of a shock to both of them???

Oh well... JR had an affair with Sue Ellen's sister... Jenna went from Bobby to Ray... Cliff had an affair with Sue Ellen, which resulted in John Ross...

Welcome to Dallas!!!

it didn't bother me they did not mention it- after all, what would they say? It's strange, but in earlier times, men used to date their nieces at times and I guess people didn't think much of it- I know the philosopher Voltaire carried on with his neice and she was the last mate of his life but back then, royalty used to marry their sisters and brothers- they say it is one of the reasons the French royal line was nuts at one time- because they kept marrying their brothers and sisters and having crazy children.

I mean, no one held it against Ray and Lucy, they didn't know, but Ray was too old for Lucy and I think she was a minor at the time- he should have not been fooling around with her in the first place-

I remember on the True Hollywood story that the producers chose to just leave things as they were and not revisit them again. In a way, I can understand what they did. Can you imagine the controversial storylines? However, if I were Lucy, Ray, Pam or Bobby, I would have questioned that since these were the only four people that knew what was going on. Ray Krebbs in the beginning was a filthy, disgusting pervert screwing a seventeen year old little brat. Ray was still hung up on Pam while he and Lucy were up in the barn loft. Lucy would tell Ray to say Pam's name while he was "with Lucy". At first he was reluctant but slowly began to get into it. Later down the line, Ray became more of a sweet guy who had his ups and downs. Total character change from the one we were used to seeing from the mini series. He and JR would have one night stands together with women they didn't even know. Lucy would always be flirting with men in their 20's and 30's. Pam help set Lucy straight during the mini series eps. There was a whole lot of Drama at Southfork.

John Ross was not the result of Sue Ellen and Cliff...it was assumed for a short time that he was the father

I've heard that they even edited out the scenes with the Ray and Lucy relationship, because not even "Dallas" was ready for incest storylines yet at the time.

DALLAS has always been shown intact. The Ray and Lucy storyline had to remain, there is no way they could edit that out without affecting the rest of the show's storylines.

Don't forget that "killing" off Bobby screwed up Knots Landing who also wrote his "demise" into their show. Valene even named her and Gary's baby boy after Bobby. Dallas wasn't very good with continuity (though it was better in that regard than LHOP and Good Times,).

Ah yes, poor KL. I remember watching that whole storyline play out on Knots (being a fan of that show as well) and when Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman had announced Bobby would come back, I couldn't help but think what was going to happen on KL regarding Bobby's supposed death. NOTHING! At that point the writers at KL never mentioned any Dallas connections again.

I turned over there to see the Bobby storyline and got hooked. I watched it till the end and became a big fan. KL was a better show than Dallas during the later years. That was the end of DALLAS for me in syndication. During its first run I watched it all the way til the end. But in reruns, I cannot get past the Pam in the hospital episodes. I can't. It is not Pam. Pam would never have left Christopher behind after almost wanting to jump off that building way back when she couldn't have kids. As a mother that is just stupid!!!!!!

You're not alone. I've read where a lot of fans say they won't buy any DVDs after either the dream or Pam's disappearance. I want them all though. One thing I hated about the later season was they made JR so dumb. Getting put on a chain gang...getting trapped in a sanatarium. The old JR never would have let that happen.

You are right. I remember we chatted abt J.R. and how he would not have allowed such things to happen to him. I am shocked that Larry Hagman even conceded to such plots! Not to mention KL (1979-93) actually ran longer than Dallas (1978-91). I was 3 months old when KL began and was in 7th grade when it ended. My Girl Scout leader was a HUGE KL fan - one reason why our troop meetings were never scheduled on Thursdays.

Remember how they even brought back Lisa Hartman because the fans had written stating they loved her character and wanted her back. The writers then came up with a character who was a double. That was a good storyline. I loved it!!! I hated when Lisa Hartman left the show, both times.

Lisa Hartman was a good actress. Now that double was believable. Dallas couldn't come up with something better than a dream to bring Bobby back? KL was good from beginning to end. When they thought they were in trouble during the next to the last season, they shut the production down so they could fix it...and they did. I wonder what would have happened if David Jacobs would have stayed in charge of Dallas? I liked Leonard Katzman but I think in the end by forcing out Phil Capice it hurt the show. They might not have liked each other but the results were better when they were both in charge of the show together..

Of all people, it was Patrick Duffy's wife who came up with the dream plot. I remember Patrick talking abt that on some talk show.

I think KL saw what happened on DALLAS and felt they owed it to the fans to not follow suit with bad storylines. Obviously the KL writers listened to the fans enough to bring back Lisa Hartman. I made a goof, I said LINDA instead of Lisa.
