If you know that Thunder or lightning will be fast approaching take the phone cables from behind the computer (in the back) out! I didn't do this and it messed up my innerds (Drives). (Just a little friendly advice... :) Small Wonderian 08-26-2003, 06:31 PM Originally posted by Pitooey Thanks Amp2K3! If you are all listening heed this warning. (Just a little friendly advice... :) I know what you mean. The same thing almost happened to me about three weeks ago. A lightning storm came and I didn't cut off the computer and all of the sudden my screen went black and had like a white line with a red outline running down the middle of it and the whole system shut off. I freaked out, but when I cut the screen back on, the HP icon was showing and then I knew that things were back to normal. Then I cut the whole computer on again, with no bad effects. :( PZelda 08-26-2003, 06:31 PM No problem. I always try to remember to unplug my computer when I know a storm is coming. You're the 2nd person I know that has had their computer fired in the last month. :( |
