Det. Arthur Dietrich. Hands down. Though Ron comes in a close second

What can I say...he's cute...funny...intelligent...and we both have the same last name. It's destiny ^^

It's got to be Dietrich. He was the best at dry humor.

That's a hard question because they all were great. :)

I would have to go with Barney himself. His calm demeanor in the middle of crisis after crisis was very funny.

My second choice would have to be Fish. His one-liners were hilarious.

Wojo was the funniest character on the show. He reminds me of someone I know...me. He has his way with the ladies, yet he is so gullible!

Though I love them all for their distinct personailities, Yemana always put a smile on my face.

Luger and Levitt.

It cracks me up how Luger just took over whatever scene he was on, especially whenever he came into the squad room. His presence really overshadowed the others. Maybe that's why he wasn't featured as regularly as the others.

Levitt had the greatest facial expressions. If you look at him closely, he's always making a face reacting to whatever is going on. No wonder he cracked Landesberg up all the time! He was also never, NEVER at a loss for words, even if it was something stupid that came out of his mouth. Even during the most tense and even dangerous moments, his main concern was that Barney didn't get mad at him.

A lot of people don't like Levitt and Luger, and go for the obvious (either Harris or Dietrich) but the show wouldn't have been the same... by a long shot... if Levitt and Luger hadn't been on, or featured less than what they were.

I liked the way Wojo's butt looked in those ugly pants. But, it's hard to pick a favorite character since I just started watching the show last week (on demand) when I had the flu. Liked it so much I bought the 1st Season on DVD on e-bay. I hope to see more. I don't know if it's on TV Land, but if it's not, it should be.

That's a hard question because they all were great. :)

I agree, but if I had to pick one it would be Yemana. Particularly for the infamous Hash episode.

When I originally watched the series in prime time, I was a Dietrich fan, and still may be. But judging from just the season 1 episodes I'm watching on the dvd set, Wojo is my favorite. Something about his attitude.

How did I miss this question before??  This is such an easy question...that of course would be Sgt. Chano Amenguale, played by the gorgeous Gregory Sierra. :eyes:  :eyes: After that it would be Fish and Yemana.

Deffinately Det. Arthur Dietrich, i loved the way hed go into some serious, dramatic sililloquy, then turn around suddenly, and say something totally random like: " How about that Rangers game last night?"

Yemana - He was funny in the hash episode. I love the line he delivered about going down to the pier to shoot some clams.

Luger - Anytime he would talk about the olden days with his cronies.
"Back then, Foster, Kleiner, Brown and myself, we'd really crack some heads"

Barney hands down!

He was level headed, fair, great at taking charge and very well liked by those under him. He was a leader par excellance!

Wow, it's tuff to pick. They were a great cast from begining to end. I have to pick Barney followed by good ol' Wojo. Like Catlover said, and others, Barney was a class act to work for. He's someone you would run through the wall for because he tried so hard to understand and to be fair. At the same time, he had to deal with inspector Lugar who, not a bad guy, but you had to put on your therapist hat for.

This show is underrated. In a way, it is related to the Honeymooners. They pulled off a successful sitcom in a very small setting, with very defined characters. Each person was unique. I like Wojo because he was one guy in law enforcement who seemed to be non-judgemental, maybe to a fault.

 Hello this is my first time here and so far I like what I see

Though I love them all for their distinct personailities, Yemana always made me laugh so he is my favorite and Levitt (the late Ron Carey) comes in second.

My favorite characters are Wojo, because he's sweet and passionate and sexy, and Barney because of the same. :-)

Even though I've watched some of these episodes a million times over, I still  over Gregory Sierra/Chano. :eyes: Also, every time I hear Luger start a sentence with "me and Foster, Kleiner and Brown" I start cracking up!!
