View Full Version : ricky does the MOONWALK!!!
jasoncole 08-17-2003, 08:54 PM  on the episode where lucy keeps pulling the emergency brake on the train, when the jewel thief points the gun at ricky, and lucy pulls the brake, ricky does this sliding move with his feet that looks like a dance step mabye he forgot where he was and thought he was at the club.Thats why i think MICHAEL JACKSON may have drawn on his style the way ricky pulls his hat over his eyes some of his arm movements and the style in general it all looks very familiar :) :) :)
Lodee 08-17-2003, 09:24 PM   That is really funny. You might be right.
dawsongirl 08-18-2003, 01:25 AM  Never noticed that before.
Mickey 08-18-2003, 04:09 AM Because he did dance a lot, and also for comic effect from time to time in skidding and things, he wore shoes with no grips on the soles. So Moonwalking, accidental or otherwise, is quite a possibility!
vedastone 08-18-2003, 04:32 AM Michael Jackson certainly didn't invent moonwalking. Cab Calloway was doing it forty years earlier. Ricky may have been influenced by Cab or others who did a similar step in the 30s and 40s. MJ's hat and arm movement style could have easily been inspired by Ricky - it's certainly likely he watched ILL as a kid.
jasoncole 08-18-2003, 09:19 AM :) your right there michael certainly didn't invent the moonwalk and ricky definetly wasn't the first it always amazes me that i can watch an episode of this show and still find goofs ,ad-libbs and other strange things i haven't heard of before certainly makes it more interesting to watch
DAWSONGIRL WOW THATS A LOT OF POSTS:wave:  :wave
SPLAIN 08-18-2003, 11:21 AM Him having gotten it from Cab Calloway makes sense too, they were from almost the same era and played the same venues.
crazyredhead 08-18-2003, 03:47 PM lol! cool! i gotta go back and watch that again. ive never noticed that before..u go my man.. LOL j/k

ergh .. Gary =:thumbsdow
SPLAIN 08-19-2003, 02:13 PM I know but SHE wanted quiet, of course she got DEAD! But still.
Mickey 08-19-2003, 04:27 PM Maybe the problem was that Gary couldn't Moonwalk?
SPLAIN 08-19-2003, 04:32 PM I'm only saying this because this is the only board i can mention it on, but i hear she at least had a very happy sex life with Gary, right up to the end, and that's nice to hear. That he wasn't just concerned with his GOLF balls! She might have been miserable career wise at the end, but at least she was comfortable with her OLD SHOE of a husband. A few weeks after she died, he was going with Eva Gabor, who left him because of his other love G O L F !

Gary Morton, Lucy's second husband. A major dork, especially compared to Desi. At least a lot of us think so.

Three??!!! Wow she told a lot of people such personal information, lol! But then again she used to say the same thing about Desi -- but that was when she was in her 30s, not in her 70s!
SPLAIN 08-20-2003, 01:15 PM Come on now, you're an expert at these things and know very well that Lucy was honest and up front about everything, and i can just hear her with the girls saying all sorts of things like that. In a LOOK article in the sixties, she even admitted that she liked to play games too, Desi mentionned it in his book because he liked her being honest about it all, and not portray HIM as the only one who strayed, of course she did it a mite less than he did, LOL! He might even have bought that horse ranch when he retired, so he could show the horses how TO DO IT!

Mickey 08-22-2003, 10:36 AM You can't spell rhythm wrong. It's impossible. Spell it to yourself. It's got rhythm! R-H-Y T-H-M. See?

SPLAIN 08-22-2003, 12:47 PM I can practically see you going chick chick kaboom while i read the post!
Mickey 08-22-2003, 01:53 PM Actually I was just tapping my fingers on the keys in a faintly rhythmical fashion, but I'll chick-a-boom if you want. Like Lucy or like Guy Mitchell?
