I love 'em, how about you? Which are your favorites?

Just wondering 'cause I'm in the mood for one now. :D

My favorites are Disney's Annie (1999 version) and Pete's Dragon. I can watch them over and over. :happyface

Excluding Disney musicals (cos most disney movies used to be musicals)- I basically enjoy any musicals made round the 60's onward. Though recently I've began watching the older musicals- I still like the new ones. I don't count movies like Flashdance, Footloose or Dirty Dancing as musicals- they're just movies with vital soundtracks.

My favourites are Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment, Chicago and Little Shop of Horrors.

All modern- but I recently bought the 2 blues brothers movies- I consider them to be musicals too, and I saw 'Earth Girls are Easy'-but halfway thru the film the writers must've forgot it was a musical.

Takes a while to get into older musicals, then again- you can get addicted. A few years ago I wasn't a fan of one musical at all.

Has anyone seen the movie of the musical 'Hair'?
I haven't seen it yet but I've heard some of the soundtrack and it's great- so I'm just gonna find a copy on video.

I saw 'The Harvey Girls' last week- it was one of the better musicals from the time.

The only musical I seriously dislike is Annie- I was in a community theater production of it when I was 8 and played the most annoying character ever- Duffy.
"Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!!!"

I was a big fan of Petes Dragon when I was young- it was kinda 'the only tape you could put on as a surefire way to stop me crying' from I was a baby.

Annie- the 1999 one is good but when you see the original first it's hard to get used to. I thought Tim Curry and Carol Burnett were better in their roles in Annie- but some songs left out in the original but in the new one are great, and should've been in the original. And the ending was rushed (Daddy Warbucks was freaky) and I felt empty- then i realised, they left out one of my fave characters- PUNJAB!

The King and I is great- UI'm really surprised it hasn't been remade yet- probably cos it couldn't be made much better (cos they'd use Chow Yun Fat again probably- and Nicole Kidman or Julianne Moore as Anna), but I fear with the stream of musicals expected soon (Footloose, Guys and Dolls and a few others) that it could be remade.

Which was the stage play though- 'High Society' or 'The Philadelphia Story'? I think they changed the name of the play to Philadelphia story- cos I've got one of the songs, and it says- from the play 'High Society'.
I've seen neither- both were on TCM this week but I didn't get time to see them. They don't really remake musicals that much.

Singin' in the Rains on TCM UK on thursday!

When I saw it at a local theater it was called The Philadelphia Story but Im really not sure about the original play although my guess would be The Philadelphia Story.
The Philadelphia Story was the film and High Society was the musical- one was set in Philadelphia (duh) and the other in Newport- just about the same plot.
