Okay- here goes another story.....

Nate kept checking his watch. Where was she? So much forher not changing her mind, although part of him knew that CD would never just leave him at the restaurant without at least calling. He was disappointed,he had been hoping this would work out with CD...his phone rang. "Nate," a voice said softly,he almost couldn't hear it."CD?" he asked. "I...I..Liz,"and the line went dead. "CD!" Nate yelled. He tried calliing back,but all he got was her voice mail.He ran to his car, calling the station at the same time. He asked for the Captain, and was surprised to get Kate. "Kate, what-never mind. Have you heard from CD tonight?" "No," Kate said, what's going on?" Nate told her of the phone call. When he mentioned Liz, Kate became concerned. "Nate, we just got some possible evidence linking Elizabeth Rue to another prison escapee that shared a cell with Ray Sanchez. We are waiting for some other paperwork from-wait, hold on," Nate was frustrated. CD could be anywhere. He started driving to CD's apartment. Kate came back on the line. "Nate, get over to Rue's apartment now! We have reports of shots fired." "I'm on my way!" Nate said, and turned on his lights and siren. He drove to the address that Kate had givien him. His heart sank when when he got there. CD's car was out in front of the building. He ran in, gun drawn. There weren't any other police there, so he knew the scene wasn't secure. Waiting for backup was out of the question-CD was involved. He went up to the third floor and pounded on Liz' door. "SFPD!" "Open up!" There was no answer, so he broke the door down. By this time, a small crowd of people on the same floor was watching the scene with great interest, but Nate was oblivious.

Okay, here goes :

First,he saw Liz.She was clearly dead,her eyes vacant and had lost a lot of blood from the chest. He heard a small moan and turned. CD was lying against some boxes,bleeding profusely from the abdomen. He took off his jacket and shirt,using the shirt to help stop the bleeding and the jacket to keep her warm. He heard sirens,so he knew help was almost there. CD stirred,opened her eyes,and looked at him. She was so pale. Nate held her face the same way she had held his several days ago when he'd been hit in the head, and repeated the same phrase she said to him."I've got you partner," he said softly."Na-",
CD's voice dropped off and her eyes closed. He rode with her to the hospital,having to settle for riding in the cab while the medics worked on CD in the back. When they got to the hospital, he held her hand all the way until they reached the examining room and he had to leave her. Nate walked back out to the waiting room.Jinny and Magda were running in, all out of breath. "How is she?" Jinny asked, trembling. Last year she had had to go through this when Magda had been shot. This would be equally hard.She and CD were close, the whole group was. Nate sank down into a chair. "I don't know, but she's lost alot of blood. She was shot once in the abdomen and not the chest at least." Magda put a comforting hand on Nate's shoulder. "Do you know anyone stronger than 'Candace you better not mess with me DeLorenzo'?" she asked. "She'll make it Nate, I know she will." "She has to," Nate said, his eyes welling up with tears."I just wish it was me in there instead." Jinny and Magda looked at each other. They had both often wondered if something was going on between CD and Nate, but that would be so unlike CD to get involved with her partner that they had put it out of their heads. Now, they began to wonder again. Kate showed up with Louis in tow. Louis had wanted to just take Kate home, and people could keep her informed by phone,but no way. Kate and CD had known each other too long. CD had no family except a flaky mother. CD asked Kate long ago if she would be responsible for making medical decisions for CD if CD couldn't. It was all official, and Kate had kept the papers in her office.She had them with her now, and went up to the admitting desk to inform the nurse that she was Candace DeLorenzo's Captain, and that she would make any decisions for CD. Kate then went over to the others, and sat down next to Nate.

okay, here goes:

"How are you holding up?" Kate asked Nate. Nate shook his head. "I know it's hard, Nate, but she will pull through, and you need to be strong." Nate looked at his boss. "I've never had a partner get hurt before. I just don't know why she went over there in the first place without calling me."(note to readers: wouldn't we ALL like to know that!:confused: ) Kate told the group what she had learned from Raina, who had gone to the scene to investigate. "We are assuming right now that CD went to Liz' after she went to the hospital and found out that Gina died. A nurse told her that Rue had been there also to see Gina, and right after she left, Gina died. They are doing an autopsy to determine cause of death." Kate paused, and then went on. "One of Rue's neighbors overheard Liz and CD arguing. The neighbor said that Liz admitted to killing Gina, and her partner as well. Then there were two or three shots,no one is sure." Kate put her arm around Nate. "She must have thought she could handle Liz, but I guess we won't know for sure until we can talk to CD."

A doctor came into the room. "Captain McCafferty?" she asked,checking her clipboard. Kate started to stand, but the doctor could see she was having difficulty, so she hurried over and sat down next to her. Everyone gathered around. "My name is Dr. Richards, and I am Chief of Surgery here. Inspector DeLorenzo is being prepped for surgery to have a bullet removed from her abdomen. She is weak, but I feel she can withstand surgery at this time. She is awake, and is aware of what is going on." The doctor paused, and Nate jumped in. "Doctor, can I see her before you take her in? It's very important." Dr. Richards looked at him. "Are you Nate, by any chance?" Nate nodded, and the doctor said, "Inspector Delorenzo told me to tell you that she is sorry about tonight, and she hasn't changed her mind.I am sorry,but there is no time for you to see her." She addressed the rest of the group again. "You all should move up to the surgical floor, and I will make sure you are kept updated." With that the doctor walked off, leaving them to start worrying again.

Several hours later:

Everyone had dozed off. Nate was sleeping fitfully,having bad dreams of CD being shot,and he wasn't able to help her. He decided to get up and go down the hall to the vending machines. As he stood there,looking for his favorite candy bar, he started remembering all the times CD had teased him about his chocolate habit,and also remembered the times she would bring him some just for the heck of it. He started getting emotional again. How long had she really cared for him? They had wasted so much time.... "Inspector?" Dr. Richards voice brought him back to the present. She came up to him.She looked exhausted and was rubbing her forehead."CD?" Nate asked hesitantly. The doctor smiled. She is one tough lady, but I think she will pull through. We got the bullet, and there wasn't too much internal damage. She is awake,and asking for you. I thought you might like a few moments alone with her before your friends wake up." Nate followed her down the hall and donned a gown to go into the ICU. CD was hooked up to several machines and still looked pale, but Nate thought she was beautiful. He sat down in a chair next to her bed and held her hand to his cheek. "Na-Nate?" CD asked weakly. 'Yeah, its me," he said softly. "The doctor says you're going to be fine. CD looked at him for a moment and drifted off without saying anything else. Nate had to leave the room while the nurses checked CD over, and he went back to the waiting room to wake the others. "Hey guys, she is going to be okay." Everyone woke up, and started hugging each other. Kate looked at Nate. "Have you seen her?" She asked. "Yeah, I just did for a couple of minutes. She is asleep right now and the doctor said she can have more visitors tomorrow." Nate cleared his throat. 'Kate, I need to stay with CD, but you and everyone else go home and get some sleep." Kate had no problem with this. It was a partner's job to stay with the injured one.jinny, Magda, and Raina all cleared out,telling Nate they would be back later when they could. Kate and Louis started to leave, and Kate told Nate that he could have the next few days off to be with CD. "Just tell CD I will be back,okay?" Nate said sure, and then he headed back to CD's room.For the rest of the night, CD woke up off and on,and was pretty much out of it. She didn't remember being shot, or anything else. She kept asking Nate what had happened, but Nate just held her hand and tried to keep her calm. CD woke up around 9 am. What in the-? she looked around, and then remembered the shooting. She looked down and saw Nate, his head face down resting on his arms. "Nate?" she said, running her fingers through his hair a bit. Nate woke up immediately. "How are you? Do you need anything?" "Just you," CD replied. Nate leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips. "What happened to Liz?" CD asked. Nate gazed at her. She seemed much more lucid and her voice was stronger. "Liz is dead. You apparently shot her, but she managed to shoot you before she died." "I shouldn't have gone over there by myself. I am so sorry about dinner, and I promise I will make it up to you." Nate smiled and gave her another kiss. "No need," he said. "I am just glad that you will be okay."

CD was in her room,packing her suitcase. She was finally out of here,thank you very much. She didn't care to see another doctor or nurse again for the rest of her life."Anyone see a pretty lady looking for a ride?" CD grinned and looked up at the door.Nate was there. "Yeah, me. Can you tell that nurse I'm ready to go?" She insists on me taking a wheelchair out of here." "Well, you know the rules, and it just so happens I have one already for you." Nate pushed a chair into the room and made a sweeping gesture with his arms. "Your chariot awaits, milady." CD just smiled and shook her head. "Nate, you are a nut." Nate handed her the rest of her flowers and slung her bag over his shoulder. He pushed CD outside and got her in the car. When they got to CD's, he helped her walk inside. She was doing better, but it still hurt to move too much. "Okay, where do you want to be?" Nate asked. Bed or the couch?" "I'll take the couch." They walked over and CD sat down,exhausted. The doctors told her it would take awhile to really get her strength back,but this was ridiculous. Nate looked at her. "Feel like lunch? I can make you some soup, or send out for something." "Don't you have to be back at work?" CD asked. Nate grinned, and sat down next to CD. "I have VERY strict orders to keep you company for the rest of the day. I also told everyone to hold off visiting until tomorrow, maybe we can finally be alone." CD put her arms around Nate. "Sounds like heaven to me."They kissed,at first gently, but then with more urgency. When they pulled away, Nate smiled. "I'm glad you are home," he said. Later, they had finished off Chinese food,and were watching a movie on TV. Nate looked down and realized CD was asleep, with her head on his shoulder. He gently moved her so her head was in his lap, and covered her up with a blanket."Goodnight my love," he said, and turned out the light. CD was right. This was heaven.

LMAO.... yeah I know that feeling... I really shoulod continue some on those other fanfics I started like... months ago... one of them a year ago even... but that one was lost for months until I got some of it back from somebody I had sent it to and who saved it... thankfully... and then all those unfinished JAG ones... oh my... so don't you dare complain about 2!!!!!! Okay- sorry it took me a bit here-

CD woke up,confused as to where she waas. She quickly figured out she was on her couch.She looked up at Nate,who had his head back,sleeping. His hand was hanging over her. How sweet,she thought.He stayed with her. She got up slowly,careful not to wake him. He had to have been so uncomfortable last night, but she had actually slept well for the first time in weeks. It was SO nice not being in that stupid hospital. She gingerly walked in her room to get cleaned up a bit and change her clothes. It took her awhile, but she managed to put on clean sweats and a t-shirt, and brush her hair and teeth. She made her way back to the living room. Nate had not moved. She smiled, and went into the kitchen to make coffee. Nate woke up to the smell of coffee. He looked around and saw CD sitting on the couch,coffee cup in hand. She was going through her mail. "Is there any of that for me?" he asked. "Good morning, I was beginning to wonder when you were going to wake up." She leaned over and they kissed. This was so nice, finally being alone together. They hadn't had much time in the past few weeks to explore their relationship further than when they had talked in the park. CD pulled away."There's more in the kitchen, do you want me to get you a cup?" she asked. Nate got up and shook his head. "No, you sit, I'll get it myself." He returned a few minutes later. CD had put her mail aside, and looked like she was deep in thought. "What are you thinking about?" he asked, sitting next to her again. CD snuggled closer to him. "Oh, nothing. Do you have to go to work today?" Nate looked at her, and said, "I can try to take the day off-Raina is making me nuts." CD laughed. Raina was really sweet, but she was such an eager beaver.... "No, you can go, I will be fine." "Are you sure?" Nate asked. " 'Cause I am sure Cap wouldn't mind-" " Yeah, go. Just promise you will be back"....CD let her voice trail off and traced Nate's jawline with her finger. They kissed again as if they couldn't get enough,but Nate reluctantly pulled away.It was time for him to go,he still had to go back to his place and dress for work.

Nate walked into the office. All was fairly quiet,which was good. Maybe he could get away early and go back to CD's. He really didn't like leaving her,but she had assured him that she would be fine, and would call if she needed him. There had been a few more kisses.He loved this woman so completely that he couldn't believe it. He thought he never would love anyone like this. "hey Nate," Raina greeted him as she walked over to her desk. "How is CD?" "She's fine, still a bit sore, but at least she is home." He grinned. "She HATED those nurses." Raina laughed. She had been at the hospital a few times when CD had really given it to the nurses that were constantly coming in her room to check on her. So what do we have going on today?" Nate asked. Raina looked down at her desk, and said,"Well, we have to finish the reports on that robbery, and there is still that rape suspect on the loose. I am in contact with a couple of sources that think they may know where the guy is holed up." Nate nodded, and they got to work.

After work, Nate headed straight for CD's. She had called him to say she was ordering something in for them for dinner.He decided to stop at a drugstore to pick up a couple of toiletries for himself in case he stayed overnight again. He just didn't want to leave CD. When he got to her apartment, she greeted him with a kiss."I could get used to this",he murmured. He kissed her again, running his hands through her hair. CD finally pulled away, and she took his hand and led him into the dining area,where she had set up a romantic candlelight dinner for two. They started to eat. Nate looked at her. The scene was so perfect, romantic music in the background. It was how he had imagined their date being that night she was shot. "Why are you staring at me?" CD asked. "Oh, nothing, I was just thinking how perfect all of this is,and- Nate was interrupted by someone knocking at the door.

And so you STOP?!!?!!!!!:mad: Man, I was just thinking WOW, look at how much has been written this time, and then it STOPS, leaving us BEGGING for more!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :D

"Hold that thought;I'll get the door." CD got up to open the door. "Captain, hey, how are you?" CD greeted Kate nervously. They were busted, BIG time..... "Well, I thought that I would come by,and welcome you home. May I come in?" "Oh,yeah, of course," CD said. Kate looked at CD. She was acting strangely, Kate thought. CD,are you okay?" she asked. "Yeah, it's just that I, well.... oh, follow me." CD led Kate into the dining area. All of a sudden Kate knew why CD was acting funny. She smiled,and said "Hey, Nate." Nate stood up. "Captain,we were just-" Nate started. Kate interrupted him. "No need to explain, how long has this been going on?" CD looked at Nate. "Since right before I got hurt, we just hadn't said anything yet because we were waiting awhile to see how it goes." CD said. Kate looked at them both. "Guys, this department has strict rules about partners dating. Although I am not surprised to see this." "You're not?" CD asked. She thought they had played it cool towards each other in the hospital. "CD, you should have seen how Nate was when you were having surgery. I think we could ALL tell something might be going on." Kate looked at both of them. "So what were two planning on doing?" Nate looked at CD. 'Well, we hadn't really talked too much about it yet, but I think we were just going to play it out a bit,see where it goes, and then we would talk to you if we decided to make this serious." He looked at CD again, who nodded encouragingly at him. Kate stood. "Well, here's the deal. You two make a great team professionally."She paused, trying to think of what to say next. CD and Nate were great partners professionally. Kate also knew, that although both of them liked Raina, neither of them would be happy paired with her permanently. So, if she broke Nate and CD up because they were dating, most likely then that would mean transferring one of them to another division, which she did not want to do. "So, here is what I am inclined to do. I am going to bend the rules a bit. You guys can talk about this with each other, work together for awhile, and we will see how it goes." Kate smiled. "I will keep this to myself, and I will say that I am happy for you guys." Kate turned to leave. CD got up. "Wait, I 'll walk you out." They got to the door and CD hugged Kate. "Thanks, Kate,for understanding." Kate just smiled. "Have a nice evening." CD closed the door and went back to Nate. They hugged. "Well, what do you think?" Nate asked. "I think we have a great boss, and I am just about the happiest woman right now. Nate grinned. "Well, if you are happy, then all is well." He kissed her. "Want to dance?" he asked.

Okay, wrapping this story up.... I am working on a new story!

They dancecd forever. CD had her fingers on the back of Nate's neck, making him feel tingly. He gave CD a kiss. "I love you so much," he said. CD looked back at him, her eyes shining. "I love you too."

Aweek later, CD was getting dressed for her first day back to work. She was completely nervous, hands shaking,and her heart beating fast. The butterflies in her stomach weren't helping,either. The only thing that was helping was Nate being there. He had been with her as much as possible. He came over every day after work, and stayed with her at nights, sleeping on her couch. When he had the day off, they would just hang out together, going on picnics in the park, or being lazy and just relaxing on the couch. Her being injured had actually brought them even closer than they had been before,. Nate knocked at bedroom door. "Are you ready?" he called. "Yeah, coming!" she answered. She stared at herself in the mirror. She had lost a bit of weight since the shooting, and it was obvious.Her black pants and white shirt looked okay though. She picked up her gun holster for the first time in weeks and put it on. She started to feel better,more normal than she had in a long time. She grabbed her jacket and came out of the room. Nate was waiting for her by the front door. "Wow, you look beautiful." he said. CD smiled at him. 'Well,let's hit it." SHe walked out the door.Nate followed her, grinning. It was going to be sooo great having his partner back. They got to the station, and Nate hurried out of the car so he could open CD's door for her. He held out his hand to her. "Are you ready?" he asked. CD hesitated, all of a sudden not feeling well. "I think I'm nervous," she said. "Anyone would be. Come on, hon, it will be fine." She took his hand and stepped out of the car. "Nate, I just want to say, well, you know, thanks for.....thanks for everything." "Anytime, babe, anytime," he replied. They kissed, and then walked into the building with their arms around each other's waists. When they got to their floor, they dropped their arms and just held hands walking into the bullpen. The gang stood and clapped for CD. CD looked a bit embarrassed by all of the attention. "Thanks, guys." she said, and then noticed Kate standing in her office doorway. "Hey, Cap.' she greeted her. Kate smiled and said, "Well, time to get to work." Nate and CD sat down at their desks. Smiling to herself, CD knew that everything was okay. She was back at her job where she belonged, and the man of her dreams was sitting across from her. Yes, everything was perfect.
