Just curious are there any As time goes by fans out there this is one series I am trying to get for my collection I really like it alot. The one show where they did the tea for the aged was really funny and also when LIonel went for his hearing test and he brought back sausages and threw them up on the counter and Jean thought it was wax also the one where she goes to the psychotherapist.

I love As Time Goes By other than Are You Being Served it's my fav. The one when they did the tea for the elderly was so good and Allister was stripping! OMG, that was one of the best eppies. I have seasons 1 through 6 on dvd. And tonight on PBS the eppy where Allistar and Judy get married is on, which is the one that i've been waiting to see for awhile now. And Allistar with his panic attack pills that make him all weepy. I love him! :)

Hey, another Alistair fan! I think he's hilarious, and it always amuses me that the studio audience never seem to laugh at him. He's so funny though!

Best Britcom EVER...the characters were real and the writing intelligent instead of the usual totally unbelievable stuff BCs are known for !

Same here, but, i prefer the Dooley Wilson version from Casablanca

Are they still making that show?
No, the show went permanently out of production after Judys wedding (Though they did make a special recap ep recalling the best moments of the show after it ended )

They are still making As Time Goes By. The team reunited for a few episodes back in February including an Xmas Special airing Christmas this year over here in the UK.

Does anyone know......

In the credits they show photos of what is supposed to be a young Jean and Lionel. Is it the real Dame Judy and G. Palmer? Also, how many kids did the actress who played the daughter have IRL during the show? Her weight fluxuated a lot.

Her weight fluxuated a lot.According to IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105943/), the two people in the photo are Judi Dench's daughter, actress Finty Williams, and Geoffrey Palmer's son.
Moira Brooker, the actress who played Jean's daughter Judy, has two children, both of whom were born during the show's 11-year run and she was noticeably pregnant with the second one in the final episodes of the series.

I absolutely adore this show. And I'm glad they're making new episodes. I really hope they make it to the US soon also. This show is the sweetest, filled with innocent humor, and so much class. These people even argue with class! You can't get much better than that. If you're in the mood for gentle comedy, this is the show for you.

I enjoy "As Time Goes By" as well. It still airs every Saturday night on my local PBS station.

I'm a fan. It's a nice gentle, very well acted comedy for adults. And Geoffrey Palmer is a fantastic actor, even better than Judy Dench who seems to get alot more acclaim as an actress.

My public television station has been showing ATGB every Saturday night (when not doing membership drives) for over 10 years now. I've seen every episode at least 10 times. I have satellite TV, but Britcom re-runs are still the best thing on Saturday night.

Back in the 1990s my PBS station showed Allo Allo and then after a while it put ATGB on. I had to do some research to make sure Alastair and Herr Flick weren’t the same actor.

The actor that played the Idiot Bains(sp?) on Waiting For God could be the brother of the actor that played Flury(sp?) Knox on The Irish RM. Small island.

I couldn't disagree more;I felt sorry for the main actors Geoffrey Palmer and Judi Dench who were above the lousy script which had them most of the time in a four poster double bed or at a loose end in the lounge.

To me, it's the bench mark for quality situation comedies. Have been watching on PBS for years. Locally, it still airs twice every Saturday. I also have the complete DVD set.

Check your PBS listings and give it a watch!

My local PBS station started running ATGB again with S1E1 and S1E2, last night. It has run two episodes a week since AT LEAST (that I know of) as far back as 2005. Allowing breaks for fund drives, that's 90 episodes per year.

But every time I see S1E1 I can't help but marveling that this is the beginning of a show that lasted nine series and two specials! And after 21 years is probably more watched now than ever!

LOTSW and ATGB are probably the most watched Britcoms (world wide) ever, at this point in time.

I'm all for wallowing in a drop of nostalgia but I feel dreadfully sorry for the state of the human condition should this be the case..

Well there is no IF about it. The show HAS run that often as a result of demand from viewers. People love the show. I don't see how that warrants concern for the human condition.

Count the non-sequiturs:I rest my case. Far be it from me to spoil anyone's enjoyment but As Time Goes By was a laboriously inane programme where the chief actors spoke across each other whilst residing most of the time within the confines of a double bed whilst the supporting cast struggled to gain notoriety and disappeared into obscurity helped by a stagnant script. Last Of The Summer Wine purported to depict true working-class Northerners of the Third Age,though being from that area myself I can tell you we are not all scruffy, impoverished ninnies but descendants of those workers and inventors responsible for the railways and many other inventions which changed the world as we know it for good.

We got your message last year that you don't like the show. We got it.

Now that you've said your piece, would you mind if a few million of us in this human race enjoy these two programs or should we check with you before we allow ourselves to enjoy anything?
