Ok i'm sorry this might seem kind of silly and shallow but right now I am pissed off and was wondering if it was just me!

I am the eldest out of three daughters I am 16 and my two sisters are 11, and 10. I have had to fight brutally hard for certain privelages, and in some cases for years... like let me give you an example...

Most girls start Shaving now when they hit jr. high, right? I wasn't allowed to shave till like halfway through 7th grade...It sucked I felt like the only girl with hairy legs! I now understand my mother and her reasons and if I had a daughter (knock on wood lol) I probably wouldn't let her start shaving the second her overpriced shoes hit the middle school pavement. today I walk into the bathroom and my mother is SHAVING my two little sisters and to add insult to injury little cousin's legs!!!! I look at her like she's gone off the deep end...you people don't understand I had to beg, cry, plead, reason with this woman to let me do this for about 3 years and I wasn't even allowed to have a razor till I was 13 and half (I waxed).

I look at her in amazement that she's actually doing this and all that comes out of my now wide open mouth is...."I resent you...." lol and she looks at me in this u are being way too dramatic face and has the audacity to say to me "That's the price of being born first".......?!?!!!?!?!?!?!? Like I ASKED to be born first...I just want equal treatment...sure my sisters get all the privelages handed to them when I had to work for them...but to do them especially that specific one before you let me.....sorry i am competely worked up about this.

I don't see what the big deal is with young girls shaving their legs in the first place. What's the deal with mothers making their daughters wait?

I don't really care, it's more of the principle of the thing...you know? Something that was so hard for her to let me do and was this big production on her part...is no problem for her when it comes to my little sisters....

In my family it was just the opposite. I am the youngest of five kids. My siblings all got their drivers licences at age 16. I had to wait till I was 17 because my mom said that the older kids weren't responsible at 16 and got into minor accidents and stuff and she didn't want to go through all that for a 5th time so she made me wait a whole year while all my friends were out driving. My brothers also bought mopeds when they were like 14,15 but I wasn't allowed to have one because my mom said they were dangerous. It was like I. ended up paying for their mistakesI can now understand her point about the drivers license but back then I just felt she was being unfair.

I'm the oldest, and I know exactly what you are talking about. In fact, at this very moment, I am baby-sitting my little brothers, again! And, for no pay. This is the 4th time this week! I have no life because of this! "Oh, and by the way, Kayla...you're watching them tonight." oh....ok. Thanks for the advance notice. Too bad if I have any plans, like seeing a play tonight, because we couldnt possibly do that!!! Ugh.

And....(Sorry, but this is just the thread i need right now) I'm turning 16 in a month and a half. I dont get a car...unlike a lot of people who do. I have to work for one. That's not so bad, but I know my parent are going to buy my brothers cars when they get older. Right now, my brother has about a million different smaller motor vehicles (i.e., dirtbike, moped, go-cart) and, while I love the dirtbike, Id rather have a CAR.

Ugh...parents.

I'm the oldest, but actually,as far as the way we're treated...everythings pretty much the same...except that my sister always did get away with a lot more...that's a classic, but it always happens  I mean, she's always driving me crazy in someway, and she just gets off with "Hey, don't do that" or something...it's like they think it's cute or something. I guess it's not like that ALL the time, but still...

Well, I have 3 younger sisters and each one got to do things that I didn't get to. I guess in a large family by the time the last kids grow up the rules get relaxed out of sheer frustration. My youngest brother who is # 7 got away with a lot of stuff that I or my older brother never got away with!

I'm the older of two daughters and I think being the oldest has both its good and bad things. It does suck when parents give ythe younger sibs an easier time and you're expected to be the responsible one, but try to think of it this way: You got to do it FIRST! :D I found that helpful.

im the middle child ...my brother is the first born .....mr wonderful joe gets to have one of the cars(which means i dont get a car ) after he just got his license taken away and got on probation for getting caught with coke alcohol and weed....and my mom and dad didnt even yell at him and i got caught with cigarettes and i get yelled at for like 2 days.........and my little sister never got in trouble in her life and never once got grounded she pisses me off

what i hate the most is that joe got to start practicing driving when he was 15 and im almost 16 and havent driven once.my mom says ive been driving since i was 11 but it was only once cause my baby sitter let me drive.

i hate my little sister though shes so annoying i can be so mean to her and she'd still do wut ever i ask its funny.......did any of yinz ever get blamed for somethin ur little brother or sister did just cause "u shoulda known better and stopped them" that sux too

Oh dear lord. Now, my mom TRIES to be fair...but that's crap. I was not allowed to watch PG-13 movies until I was 12 and a half. MY MIDDLE SISTER...who is INFINITELY times less mature then me...is allowed to watch them if her friends mom approves...and NOW she's allowed to watch them whenever she's at her friends house...she's 11! Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, she'll be able to watch them like I did right AFTER she turns 12. I hadta wait an extra 5 months. ALSO...I BEGGED my mom for a phone in my room. BEGGED and PLEADED. So here comes one Christmas...and me...AND my middle sister BOTH got phones. Uh...hello? I've been waiting 2 years and 5 months longer. ANNNNNNNNNNNNND...my parent's just got a cell phone for us 3 girls...but HELLO...I've hadta wait how long? And now I have a cell phone I haveta share with my 11 and 8 year old sister?!?!?! Yea...THAT'S fair. It all annoys me and there's prolly a lot more stuff that pisses me off, I just can't think of it all right now.

Oh, and about that whole shaving thing...I started when I was like...8 or 9...lol...but at LEAST my middle sister didn't start till she was like 10 and the other sister hasn't started yet. At least there is SOME justice in the world.

im an only child, my parents had no clue.
with the leg shaving thing- my mother actually wrote me a letter when i was 12 that explained that and like, everything else that a normal parent would sit down and talk to their daughter about- or at least hand them a book or something- no, shes too nervous- i get a 4 page letter and a box of stuff to figure out on my own what to do with. At the time I was devestated because all my friends had mother's who actually talked to them about stuff, but in retrospect its pretty funny.

The trouble is, parents should apologize when they screw up. Your mom clearly did screw up. It doesn't matter about the shave or not to shave debate. She gave that one up. You have every right to be fuming out of your socks. I would demand an apology. This 'come see, come saw' jive is no more acceptible coming from the 'all powerful' parent than it is from the snot nosed, know-it-all kid! Lay into her, with confidence. :p :)

Actually it's funny that you mention that kitt, I did tell her that it really bothered me how for me it was this huge production, but for them it was no big deal and it was early. At first she accused me of being completely over-dramatic but then she realized that it really did bother me and she did apologize..:)
