View Full Version : I'm confused...
DianeChambers87 07-22-2003, 09:32 PM Is Cheers an unknown show?
I mean seriously, like it's the type of thing where you mention it and people "Oh yea greatest show" or the go "what?".......
I think we deserved at least ONE spot on the 200 greatest icons......lol Oprah got #1 for God sake....
Like........what makes a Cheers fan...?
¤Graced¤ 07-22-2003, 10:17 PM Maria, was that damned Cosby show mentioned? If it was I will go insane!
onefortheroad 07-23-2003, 12:27 AM Oprah got #1 for God sake....
how do u know that, i thought they werent airing number 1 till friday??????
Skywalker 07-23-2003, 12:28 AM The 200 greatest pop icons thing was a farce. I mean come on, the cast of Friends was ahead of the Beatles. VH1 doesn't have a clue about music or pop icons.
onefortheroad 07-23-2003, 01:36 AM how do u know that, i thought they werent airing number 1 till friday??????
nevermind, i found it on the website.
i agree, i think the friends cast shouldve not even been on the list and the cheers cast shouldve replaced them
onefortheroad 07-23-2003, 01:37 AM was that damned Cosby show mentioned?

Grrrr...didn't superman get like number..2?
Brian Damage 07-23-2003, 01:32 PM Believe me guys, I'm a big Cheers fan, but even I have to admit that Friends should be on that list even if Cheers isn't. Friends spawned several knockoff shows on rival networks, it started a fashion trend with a haircut that was called the Rachel and even that stupid theme song became a hit on the radio.

Believe me, I'm not a fan of Friends. I just think it did have an impact on pop culture that I don't think Cheers did.
DianeChambers87 07-23-2003, 11:23 PM Which is a shame, because I bet you there would be more peace in the world if Everybody had a bar where everybody knew their name;)
DianeChambers87 07-24-2003, 12:54 AM HEY GUYS!! I'm watching Conan O'brien and he was doing a skit making fun of Vh1s 200 greatest pop culture Icons, and they were putting in fake people and they put in at number 76 Cliff Clavin!! and the entire crowd went wild!! lol
onefortheroad 07-24-2003, 12:59 AM they put in at number 76 Cliff Clavin!! and the entire crowd went wild!! lol

sick, ill hafta watch that. lol
DianeChambers87 07-24-2003, 04:44 PM Now that I think about it though...our characters are pretty unique.... I mean ok most of the promiscuous male characters are more like the "Fonz" than Sam. The idea of having a Sam type around isn't original, because almost every show has one, but Sam is a very unique and ironically complex character. Plus, and not a lot of shows have this, he's a main character (yes it's an ensemble, but Ted was a primary actor).
I have never seen a character like Diane chambers.....
Carla, and Sophia (Golden Girls) are VERY alike...only Carla is a bit meaner....
Coach........yea i've seen characters like him...like that guy from the show "coach" ..but he was pretty original
Rebecca.......i've never seen a complete Rebecca character (like i've seen neurotic characters...and then really shallow characters...but i don't think they had Rebecca's combination)
Cliff...never seen a character like cliff
Norm....never seen a character like Norm
Fraiser........not really...none that I can think of at the moment
Woody.....um........I don't know if I have seen quite a character like him.
barwars 07-24-2003, 07:06 PM FUDGE!!
I missed Conan last night, and this afternoon, does anybody know when itll be on again??
onefortheroad 07-24-2003, 07:56 PM Coach........yea i've seen characters like him...like that guy from the show "coach" ..but he was pretty original
lol im confused, are you saying that coach's character inspired dauber from the show 'coach' or coach copied his character from dauber?
barwars 07-24-2003, 07:59 PM I would say Woody is more like Dauber
And Coach is a lot like Luther
onefortheroad 07-24-2003, 08:50 PM yeah dauber and lowell (i think thats his name) from Wings were definitly inspired by woody and coach
DianeChambers87 07-24-2003, 09:34 PM Originally posted by onefortheroad

I think Dauber and Lowell were inspired by Woody. Luther, probably Coach. Brian (Wings) is like Sam IMO also.
barwars 07-25-2003, 08:08 AM I thought you were talking about the show "coach".
