View Full Version : Reunion Info from Cali!!
new england holiday 12-29-2000, 03:28 PM I get digital cable (a provider with more channels) and therefor we get a special tv guide.....anyway it had an interview with Nancy McKeon and she said that she loved doing the Facts of Life but it is over now and she wants closure....therefor something will happen to her, but she didn't say what.... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eek.gif now its time to get scared, she very likely will die in the reunion, but at this point she is not even making a cameo.

Richard 12-29-2000, 04:40 PM Nancy has done many other things since FOL and has had a wonderful career-which is more than can be said for any of the other former FOL stars.I don't think a reunion is a good idea anyway.

First, it's true Ms. McKeon has had a very creditable career.
But, the other girls are very happy with what they've done; Lisa has a family with three kids and homeschools them and has written a book, and others are on the way, Kim graduated college and has done many shows and now owns a production company and is a teacher, Mindy also graduated college and was a talk show host on a radio show for years and she recently has been doing cartoon and other voices.
Second, why is reunion a bad idea?

Michele35 12-29-2000, 05:18 PM This is bad news http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif How old is this article?
We haven't seen 'The Division' yet but imo FOL is the best work Nancy McKeon has done to date.
Actually Kim Fields is the only FOL alum to have successfully starred in another sitcom since both of Nancy's failed.
Maybe they should reconsider the reunion if they are considering killing off Jo. I still would watch without Nancy so maybe instead they could write Jo as being out of town and just concentrate on the other girls and Mrs. Garrett. I don't know how entertaining Blair would be without Jo, however, since the series finale ep that just featured Blair kinda sucked.
Michele, I agree with that last point you made. The season finale did suck, and Blair wasn't too entertaining by herself, although she did defend herself rather well. Of course she had lived with Jo for eight years so she learned http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Anyway, Lisa is a great actress IMO, but even good acting can't save a character when it isn't written well. Blair and Jo made each other stronger, so I don't know how it will be without Jo, and same with Tootie and Natalie, it will be weird without Kim. Maybe they should rethink this whole reunion thing, or do like Cheers did during their 200th episode show...
Michele35 12-29-2000, 08:02 PM One last thought on this reunion stuff and I won't post about it again.
If Nancy McKeon wants closure maybe she should do the Reunion Movie. The cr@ppy series ending episode was unfair to all FOL fans. A well written reunion movie could provide closure for everybody.
Usually these 'reunion' shows are not very well done but some pretty big stars including Mary Tyler Moore(my favorite actress of all time) were willing to go back to their old roles for a reunion type show so why can't Nancy??
Jo_Po 12-29-2000, 08:08 PM I completely agree with the idea of maybe rethinking the reunion and doing something like Cheers did instead. The last episode of FOL was anything but a good ending for the series, and a reunion movie would be great-if all the characters were there though. If Nancy and Kim are most likely not gonna be in the movie, then there shouldn't be one IMO. Sure, we will still have Mrs. G, Blair, and Nat so far, it won't be the same if Jo isn't there for Blair or if Tootie isn't there for Nat.

jayman75 12-29-2000, 10:50 PM Just a little FYI -- I take pride in the fact that I suggested the reunion idea similar to Cheers (under subject "Reunion Option..."). Just wanted to show how cool a 25 year old can still be. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
PS -- Where is Mindy Cohn now. She's awesome, and I'd really like to write her.
I think the reunion movie could be the final episode we never had, but only if Nancy and Kim show up, if in the end they decide for definate that they are not doing the movie, I think we should just forget about it, you cant have a reunion if you are missing two principle characters!!
------------------
Stanley Roper: I'm sorry Jack
Jack Tripper: Oh, thats ok, what did you do?
Roper: Me? Nothing, I just thought I saw something that wasnt normal, because it was normal, but, now I can see it aint normal, so, everything's back to normal again.
Jack: oh, well, I'm glad for you.
What was the name of the TV guide it was in?
Jo-Po Rox 12-30-2000, 02:22 PM That just sux eggs! I cant believe Nancy would let them kill off her character just like that. Im not watching it if they do. Its gonna be so sad watching FOL reruns if Jo does get put to death in the "reunion" movie http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif
message maker 12-30-2000, 02:53 PM I am confused and sad that she will not be in it at all cuz she's my favorite charater!!!
rocknroll7777 12-30-2000, 08:18 PM i have lost faith in reunions after seeing "Mary and Rhoda"

Ha! Ha! I just read over that comment and found it funny. There is truth to it though.
TVaddict 12-30-2000, 09:10 PM Didn't see that one, but the Growing Pains one was pretty bad. They're never good. The point is just to see the people again.
rocknroll7777 12-30-2000, 09:13 PM EXACTLY!!! why spoil a good thing! from what i heard the reunion is already going down in flames...maybe a spinoff show but not a reunion....i loved MTM but i hated the reunion

Jo-Po Rox 12-30-2000, 09:40 PM The Growing Pains reunion movie was corny as hell. Didnt like it one bit. ALthough it did like seeing the cast again after all these years. Thats just about it!
rocknroll7777 12-30-2000, 10:30 PM look we dont want a sucky reunion movie...which about all reunion movies r

gottaluvJo 01-01-2001, 12:15 PM that sux so bad! reunion movies always suk, so im used to that, but its cool to see the characters again after so long. if jo n tootie arent going to be in it, then what is the point of a reunion? Who knows? if jo n tootie dont appear in the movie then it might get bad ratings and they might take FOL off the air! that would suk.
LaverneShirley 01-01-2001, 07:21 PM They should just do what L&S did. Have the cast members come back and talk about what it was like doing the show and show a ton of clips. (Someone said something about having fans ask questions, and that's a great idea too)
------------------
"Well, Laverne is sort of childish" -Shirley
"Childish? Childish? Coming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!" -Laverne
"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!" -Shirley
"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!" -Laverne
Cokies 01-01-2001, 09:04 PM Hey Laverne, that is a good idea!
A reunion movie is risky(just look at the Growing Pains reunion) but if it's well written, then they should give it a whirl. Actually, the writers could do a good job with Jo's death(hopefully), if done right. Let's just all hope..

"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, except it was a Friday."
Michele35 01-01-2001, 09:17 PM Ok, I wasn't going to comment on the Reunion stuff anymore......but, I must add that it will be awfully difficult to watch any more FOL if Jo does 'die.' How can I laugh at any of Jo's comebacks to Blair when I know that Jo died at such a young age in the reunion movie?
------------------
Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?
Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
coily2 01-01-2001, 09:27 PM Good point, Michele. However, I think that the effects of the reunion show on my viewing patterns will be short-lived. Initially, I may not have fun watching the show anymore. But down the road, nobody will remember the reunion show. Good example would be the Mary & Rhoda reunion (it sure sucked!). At first, I wasn't into watching old reruns of Rhoda or MTM, thinking what's the point, since they end up not speaking for like 15 years or something. After a couple of months, the whole plot of the reunion has escaped my mind, and I can now go back to watching reruns the way they were meant to be seen. Sounds kind of wierd, but think about it this way: when you see a Brady Bunch episode, do you think of Greg as a doctor or Marsha as an alcoholic? Of course not.
TVaddict 01-01-2001, 10:14 PM Ah, the not short-lived enough "Brady's" hour long drama. Let's hope nobody ever tries THAT again. However, it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen and I usually watch it if I know it's going to be on. Marcia the alcoholic. Correction, FAKE Marcia. In a show like that you can handle replacement characters because there were a lot of them. But in the FOL movie 2 out of 5? That's a little more than 1 out of 9. Let's face it, if they do make a reunion movie it'll probably be bad, but we will get to see some more of the characters we loved. Let's just hope they don't have Blair turn into an alcoholic or have Jo become paralyzed in a tragic race car accident like Bobby Brady.
Factsamillion 01-01-2001, 10:33 PM Personally I dont mean to offend you all but I think that you are all depending on one interview to decide. this person (no offense) could just be making it up to get attention. Did anyone els see it? I think that if it is true that we should do something, like flood the acctresses with mail and e-mail and beg them to do it!!!!!!!!
------------------
"Tootie" I just like saying that. "Tootie"
Tootie: "No way, if I die, I'm going to roll through those pearly gates!"

Um, hello I'm not making it up...I got my information from a good tv source. I also live close to Hollywood, so I get a lot of information because I have a lot of connections. If you don't believe me fine, but I know what I read.

Oh my god, I remember that... I actually have them on tape somewhere, directly from 1990, but I don't know where. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyway you know what we should do?? watch nancy's intimate portrait fri. night because i just caught the commercial for it last night (finally!!) and it said how "the facts of life was her biggest breakthrough..." and obviously thats what she'll talk about alot ~ so keep your ears open for any talk about a reunion!
------------------
tootie: my grade? how 'bout we keep it between you and me? (sticks her poem down her shirt) nobody'll ever find it here!
Natalie: A D-? But that's below my favorite C level!!
Jo: You're born, you grow some, you die. That's life.
natalie: if shes so smart she can type the whole damn thing!
nancy: how about something to make you cold, hot stuff?
