View Full Version : King of Pop? Michael Jackson 07-01-2003, 04:33 PM You all seem to doubt Michael Jackson for yu are sucked into the world of media press and some of yu are ignorant fr00ti 07-01-2003, 05:25 PM Elton John. He kicks ass. :D mcgwirefan 07-01-2003, 05:28 PM It depends on what you're really asking here. Do you mean Pop or do you mean Rock and Roll? There's different genres of R&R and also of Pop, so lumping them makes it hard to pick just one King of All. Elvis is the King Rick Nelson is the Prince of Rockabilly Michael Jackson is neither. Kay Scarpetta 07-01-2003, 05:38 PM Elton John is my personal favorite. *Marilyn Monroe* 07-01-2003, 10:34 PM Elvis Presley...he's not rock by nowadays standards, so he is the Pop King. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 07-01-2003, 10:44 PM Originally posted by *Marilyn Monroe* Elvis Presley...he's not rock by nowadays standards, so he is the Pop King. I agree with that. AllIWantIsYourClutch 07-01-2003, 11:35 PM Michael Jackson all the way baby. :D I love him sooooooo much....oh man he's the greatest. Kristina 07-02-2003, 07:40 AM Out of those, Elvis Presley. David 07-02-2003, 09:37 AM Stevie Wonder or Elvis *GoodMorningCalgary* 07-02-2003, 10:21 AM Elvis is the King!! *PinkLady* 07-02-2003, 01:29 PM I like Michael Jackson (his older stuff) and Stevie Wonder. ABlairican Pie 07-03-2003, 12:32 AM Elton John. Because he's called SIR Elton John now. At least he hasn't played kiddie music for the entirety of his career. Justin Timberlake?? ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 07-03-2003, 12:35 AM Originally posted by Captain ABlairica Justin Timberlake?? How about...the King of MTV? I swear, him and that channel belong together. Not only do they play his videos every second, show specials about his tour, and other crap but they both disgust me! By the way, I'm ticked at MTV, see the Foo Fighter's post and you will understand. Although this feeling has been building up for a while....that was the straw that broke the camels back though. I heard that about the Foo Fighters video. Gee, MTV IS a kiddie station. Nothing really cutting edge or different or fun. I heard on the FF website you can see the video. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 07-03-2003, 12:41 AM Originally posted by Captain ABlairica I heard that about the Foo Fighters video. Gee, MTV IS a kiddie station. I think some of the ho's in those rap videos are probably worse than that. DianeChambers87 08-14-2003, 04:40 PM ELVIS IS THE KING OF ROCK N' ROLL!!! MICHEAL IS THE KING OF POP!!! MODONNA IS THE QUEEN OF POP!!! felicitylen 08-14-2003, 07:40 PM I think Michael Jackson will always be the King of Pop. EVERYONE tries to duplicate him but no one can be him. Christopher 08-15-2003, 02:25 AM Michael Jackson is the king / queen of plastic surgery imo. Lady T 08-15-2003, 02:27 AM Elvis on the same poll as Justin Timerlame, give me a break. :p Crimson and Clover 08-15-2003, 02:30 AM Originally posted by Christopher Michael Jackson is the king / queen of plastic surgery imo. Elvis is #1 at everything. pandora_spocks 08-15-2003, 03:22 AM Elvis. °Bubbly Blonde° 08-15-2003, 04:24 PM I voted for Prince The Obsolete Man 08-15-2003, 04:34 PM Michael Jackson is proof of the american dream! I mean, only in america could a young black boy become an old white woman! Oh, but as for his music... Well... there were a few good songs on Thriller... and the Jackson five wasn't too bad. But otherwise, Jackson was average with a good hype machine behind him. However, the hype machine couldn't even help when he started playing "hide the salami" with children. :D ABlairican Pie 08-16-2003, 12:20 PM Originally posted by The Obsolete Man Michael Jackson is proof of the american dream! Michael has really messed his face up. I gotta go with Michael Jackson. Prince is 2nd. Michael Jackson 08-27-2003, 07:33 AM Ha ha ha not The reason why i put Justin Timberlake on the poll is because must of you Americans say he is the new King of Pop and that Michael Jackson does Timberlake moves when Timberlake copies his vocal singing he is also soing an album with nsync during his solo career just like Jackson did in the 80's with Jacksons:mad: phoebe7165 08-28-2003, 06:03 PM It's a shame Michael's life got so freaky the past 10 years or so because he is extremely talented. I really can't say I'm an extremely devoted fan, though. That comment about Michael going from a young black boy to an old white woman--gee, I heard that same exact comment on VH1. I've always like Elton John, so I'll go with him. I have nothing against Justin, but I'd be curious to see if he's still in the music business in 25 years. Tuesday Weld 08-28-2003, 07:07 PM Elvis,of course! Josh9125 08-29-2003, 12:38 AM of all time...Elvis current...Justin Simpson_10 08-29-2003, 05:12 AM MIchael Jackson then Elton John:wazzup Brian Damage 08-29-2003, 10:35 AM Michael is the King of Pedophillia as far as I'm concerned. I vote Elvis! Janice 08-29-2003, 01:20 PM Elvis has the title of, The King Michael Jackson, The King of Pop Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul James Brown was something, like the King of Soul. Not sure about that one. Bruce Springsteen is The Boss. These are the industry accepted titles. I'm not sure if you're asking for our personal opinion or Michael Jackson's official title in the entertainment industry. Brian Damage 08-29-2003, 01:52 PM I think he wanted our personal opinions from the choices above. That Other Fan 10-28-2003, 03:55 PM I'm bumping this because I have nothing better to do...lol First, Michael has vitiligo so the "Black man to white woman" comments are kinda mean-spirited as essentially your picking on a person for something they can not control. Next, I love Michael, but I'm not into the "titles". Finally to push a few buttons, lol Elvis cannot touch Michael's success. Michael broke racial barriers and was able to garner the type of success many people of color had been denied for years (not success, but SUCCESS lol). Elvis "borrowed" his act from a certain group or sector of the US who weren't allowed to be visble in the mainstream media. All this "before anyone did anything Elvis did it all" kinda annoys me, as he really just copied what others (who would have never recieved the attention he did) invented and became the "King" with it. You can berate me and tear my post apart now...lol I suppose there may be a few (VERY FEW lol) who'll agree with me. Lee 10-28-2003, 04:46 PM My favorite is Elton John! I am also into The Beatles, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers and Chicago. I also like listening to Jerry Clower, a country comedian from Mississippi. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 10-29-2003, 12:11 AM Originally posted by Brian Damage Michael is the King of Pedophillia as far as I'm concerned. That Other Fan 10-29-2003, 12:59 PM 2 points - Hannah, If you actually believed Michael did something as horrible a molesting a young child, how could you laugh at it? - Technically, Elvis proceeded Michael as "the King of Pedophillia" (Of Elvis' pedophillia acts can be proven, the accusations against Michael's can't). The Modfather 10-29-2003, 06:46 PM Elton or Elvis! Michael Jackson 10-30-2003, 11:43 AM Hello the other fan thank you for sticking up for michael There are so many cruel and nasty people out there if they were celebrities they would not like being accused in a scandal That Other Fan 10-30-2003, 02:17 PM Originally posted by Michael Jackson Hello the other fan thank you for sticking up for michael No problem... Although I don't really consider it "sticking up for Mike", so much as putting the truth out there. Because Mike looks a certain way (because of the ravages of vitiligo) and is eccentric (Ok, VERY eccentric lol), I think people love to take the rumors and the media reports as the truth. They won't look any further simply because the person the report is on is a "freak" therefore this "rumor" about him "must be true" as well. I've been a fan of Mike's for too long to believe everything I see, hear, or read simply because it's reported as the "truth." I know a lot of Elvis-bashers make a big deal that some people "won't get over his death". Hello?!? HEARD OF TUPAC? Like rap fans are any different with him as a generation are with Elvis??? |
