Obviously people are upset that their siggies are no longer going to be part of their posts. This is a big part of their self-expression, their personalities. Obviously we want our siggies.

BUT.... We seem to forget we have taken advantage of the priviledge of our siggies, and made them 20 times larger than a simple two-word response on a thread. These things cost a lot of money, and people apparently haven't been coughing up. And I just want to say since I have been a big poster here, I have been planning on sending a couple bucks out of gratitude for all the fun here. I don't want to see people's siggies missing from here on out, but I don't want to see TJ left in a lurch over this. Is there SOMETHING we can do to rectify the problem? I think I read someone say if we pitched in a few bucks here and there we could have a siggy...I don't know. I don't think it's going to do too much good for people to leave if they can't get their pictures up, because that might spread ill will to other online boards people go to, some jilted party might start bad-mouthing us here and not want to come here. We have to do something, because this is has been a great place for us. We are all family, and this is our home. We have to consider TJ's feelings about this, but there has to be some middle ground where we can get our siggies up as well as committing some kind of financial help to do so.

It doesn't bother me one bit. This is TJ's board. He can run it however he wants to. I agree we've been a bit selfish as far as images in signatures go.

My last signature, with the Bill Hicks picture and long quote - when TJ posted his poll, I realized how ridiculously long it was and immediately changed it.

He's also really lenient on our avatar sizes. 125x125 pixels is PLENTY! Most boards I post at are usually half that, if they even allow avatars at all!

TJ, whenever it will be possible for me to do so, I'll donate some cash for the boards. I've spent a year and a half on it, I've enjoyed it, and I really don't think you're the only person who should be flipping the bill for it. Thanks for tolerating my B.S.

Is your screen resolution 800x600? Because mine's 1024x768 and it doesn't shift anything on mine. Oh well. And who said I was bitchy and hated you? I just think if we have ONE pic in our sigs and linked from a free service like boomspeed.com instead of SO I think we should be allowed to have a pic in our sig, but if my text pic gets deleted then I'm gonna be more than bitchy.

Yes, my screen resolution is 800x600. I never said you were bitchy, but by seeing all those immature people whine and complain about losing their precious pictures, I wouldn't be surprised if you told me to 'Shut up' or 'Go to hell' for telling you about your sig.

Holly, that Liz pic was really, really good. Must've taken a LOT of work!! (But I know you didn't really think of it as work! ;)) Anyway, about having pics in our sigs, maybe we could if there was some kind of limit on size like we have for avatars? I liked having mine. I never had a long sig, and I think there has to be some sort of compromise on this issue. Then again, it's TJ's board, and what he says pretty much goes.

I clicked on this page at 12:48PM. It didn't fully load everything until 12:54. That's 6 minutes. Is it supposed to take 6 minutes for a page to load? No. Those binary code pictures are just as bad images. No doubt they're cool, but they don't work. I wasn't going to say anything, and you might think I'm just being an arsehole, but those things just got to me so bad that I had to say something. I still believe the 15 LINES OF TEXT MAX still applies to signatures even thought images aren'tallowed.

I am going to have to agree with Original Prankster on that one. The amount of text probably is more then some of the photos that were being posted. I don't think they are a good idea, although they look cool.

TJ, between one webmaster to another I know it costs a lot to keep a site going. Especially, with bandwidth issues and such. How about we have a compromise? You allow only 1 pic in siggy's and you can keep them showing once per page like you have them now, but the catch is everyone has to link them from another site not SO. Like register a free account at boomspeed.com, like I have for my pics that I use on this site. And if it's a must have a pinned thread where people have to sign so we make sure they follow the rules about the 1 pic in the siggy deal. Make sense?

This is just a suggestion to try and make a compromise over this whole thing.

I really, really miss the pic below in my sig. :(

Excuse me? I follow the rules to be courteous to other people. I don't think anyone should be exempt of them, not even you. Look at TJ's post after mine. He even agrees. You might as well have a small sized picture and it'd load faster with it. I don't care if you like me or not, that's not the point of the post. I could care less about my popularity around here, or else I still wouldn't be here. The point is I'm trying to be a part of this forum as much as anyone else. Fine, I'll shut up about it. It won't work. There will ALWAYS be people who will abuse the rule and just keeping adding pics. It was two pictures when the rule was first initiated, but then it spiraled out of control. They'll NEVER listen to you, and you just can't ban them. Why can't you just be staisfied with text like the rest of us? The boards survived two years without signatures OR avatars and they were STILL enjoyable. They will continue tobe. Like I said beofre, it's PEOPLE that make up a message board, not images.

I'm siding with Chris on this one. These binary code image signatures - while cool - are kind of like directly going against TJ's wishes. Sure, they don't take as long to load as gifs or jpegs, but they're still eyesores and they definitely flood threads.

The binary code images work fine on my computer. I think it all depends on what type of computer you have, as much as what type of connection you have. On my old Windows 98 computer they make the pages load slow, but on the computer I use most of the time, my Windows XP they don't cause a problem.

You know what I think? I think that I agree with everything Holly says. And just because you have slow dial-up Chris, doesnt mean everyone else should have to change everything so you can be happy. JMO.

Yeah, they load just fine. My complaint is as listed above. But I'm not too worried about it. Why don't we just wait and see how TJ feels about them before we fly off the handle?

If you all don't wanna look at sigs there's this little image called 'User CP' click on that, then click on 'Edit Options' go down and turn off siggy's. How hard is that?

AFTER HE OFFERED PEOPLE WHO DONATED THAT THEY CAN GET THEIR MONEY BACK. I did not have to give him my money, I did it because I liked the boards and wanted them to stay the way they were.

Why don't you take it up with him in a private message instead of airing it out here on the boards he puts hard work into? It's the least you can do for the guy. Hell, he's let you post on his board for two years. I think he'll give you your money back. Me? I'm going to donate. I like the way he's running things here. He's doing the best he can.

But like I said, you really should take it up with him via private messaging. Talking **** about him here is totally not cool.

Oh, and these boards are so strict. It's like a religious board. For cussing I've almost been banned a few times, there is something called 'freedom of speech'.

I'm not talking **** about him, I'm just saying how unfair it was for him to tell me the text in my signature was an image and if I didn't remove it I couldn't get my donation back that he offered to do for people.

Well, last time I checked, it was his board and he can do what he wants with it. Wouldn't you say that's a correct statement? Why or why not? Show your work on scratch paper.
