"It's all quiet here at City Hall Park in New York, New York. We're getting ready for a race of a life time. Now the traffic is expected to be quite busy at the time of the start of the race. No matter what status the driver's cars are in or the condition the drivers are in, they must stop at each checkpoint. They will not be allowed to go any further until they check in at that checkpoint.
(No matter if your milage would take you past the checkpoint, your milage stops at the checkpoint until the next round - your extra points would be lost)

Mr C: "Thank you. I'm Howard Cunningham of Cunningham Harware. Come on over to Cunningham Hardware if you need any hammers or nails or screws or paint or pails... well, we have it all. And welcome to the 2Trivia4Me CrossCountryRace! It's sponsored by Milwaukee's own Leopard Lodge and Hammer Hank's Wrecking Yard. As you all know - this race course is not blocked off, so you will be having to deal with regular traffic delays. Getting though New York's traffic will take patience. There is one small change to the rules that everyone needs to know about. The only rule in the race is that you can not tamper with anyone else's car. To ensure that doesn't happen, we will need to have an official ride in the cars with the drivers. You can pick from the many volunteering officials. If you don't pick one before the start of the race, you will have a volunteer official assigned to your car. If you want a different official - one that has not been chosen, we can have them meet you at the next checkpoint."

Richie: "Oh yeah. MsConanOBrien is up for this challenge. She's got a great sense of humor - which you need on these cross country trips - ya know. But yeah, we are going to burn rubber from the start. You ever hear of Grease Lightening?"

"Yes, I've hear of it."

Richie: "Well, when they drop that flag, you're going to see it as well."

"Well, thank you Richard. Let's move over to Car #14 and speak with Ralph Malph. Ralph, are you guys up for this challenge?"

Ralph: "Child's play, Mr. Announcerman, child's play. YoliUSA and I are gonna burn rubber. You'll be able to smell it for hours."

"Well, I think I'm smelling it now."

Ralph: "Oh, that must be my lucky rubber nose. I'm taking it incase YoliUSA gets tired and could use a laugh. "

"I see, and why are you holding that large inflatable donut?"

Ralph: "2,800 miles. I need all the cushion I can get."

"I see, so you're going to 'Sit On It'."

Ralph chuckled and pointed to him: "That's right mister."

The race is off to a slow start. Car #08 Shelle's car with Joanie took an early sprint down the alley and made it through Holland Tunnel. King Istillgotit in car #77 followed her lead and then passed her. Shelle came back and caught up with King Istillgotit. It appears that King Istillgotit has blown a tire, but if he goes back to retrieve his hubcap, he'll loose 3.1 miles but will be able to fix his tire without loosing any more time on that. And where did FonzFan come from? FonzFan had broken loose from the traffic jam late, but has managed to take a good lead in this terrible morning traffic.

Round two is coming up... Racers have an idea when... and when it does it's a MPH round. What is a MPH round? By answering questions, you determine the average Miles Per Hour you travel in a given time. It looks like traffic is starting to lighten up a bit. If you missed the first round completely, you missed a major traffic jam. Round 2 and 3 should NOT be missed. I believe round 2 is open freeway based on a three hour drive. Don't quote me on that, but traveling at 50 MPH for three hours verses traveling at 100 MPH is a difference from 150 miles to 300 miles.

We'll just have to see how round 2 is set up.
