I think that Denise didn't know Suzanne, her friend, had a boyfriend. I know that this doesn't come across as making sense really because being at the same high school Denise most likely would have known especially if they were friends, but if you remember, when Suzanne's boyfriend shows up at the Huxtable home, Mark I think his name was, Denise greets him as if she doesn't know him very well. She says, you're on the wrestling team right? I think she was written that line to indicate to us that she didn't know Suzanne had a boyfriend or that Denise was even thinking about it, albeit it could have been written better.
