I think the best way is to be rich enough to just throw it away when you're done cooking on it!
Anyone else find these things incredibly hard to clean?
I just finished cleaning mine. You can't put it in water, plus it has all these nooks and crannies on and below it which are hard to get to, all while trying to hold it with one hand so it won't go in your dish water, but making sure the little grease chute(I didn't know what else to call it) stays over the sink so the junk you're cleaning off of it won't flow out onto your counter.
Unfortunately I'm not rich enough to just throw it away and buy a new one each time I cook on it. But I've sure thought about throwing it away anyway.

The best thing to do is scrape it with that plastic scraper while the grill is still hot. Then take a sponge or paper towel to clean the rest off. Just be careful you don't get burned. If you wait till it cools down it is almost impossible to clean.

I shut it off after I'm done cooking. After dinner, when it's time to clean it, I turn it back on and use wet paper towels, and it cleans very easily. If it gets too hot, I shut it off because it stays hot enough to clean. I use about half a roll of paper towels.
Like Mijada said, it has to be hot or at least warm to clean.
Not only is the George Forman Grill hard to clean,, but the "non-stick" coating on mine was history after only a few uses.
So I try to use as much pam as possible, hope nothing sticks too bad, and scrub the thing down with some dishwashing liquid.
The wet paper towel trick Janice mentoned works well too.
Anyone else think we should start a "Home Economics" board?

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions! I'm going to have to try some of those. And possibly buy some stock in a paper towel company.;)

I have a GF grill but I don't use it very often,
btw Suzanne Somers has a grill like George's but you can snap the part you cook on out and put them in the sink or dishwasher
you can get it on www.hsn.com
