Swimfan85 06-09-2003, 09:57 PM when you run, wht do you do? do you go to a track and do a certain amount of laps or do you run around your block and time ur self? ~Tropical Punch 19~ 06-09-2003, 10:17 PM lol I don't run. I really should, but I don't-unless it is a requirment for school. Sorry. Hollow 06-09-2003, 10:19 PM i dont run or exercise. too boring and tiring. Kitt 06-09-2003, 10:19 PM It depends. If I go to a track I'm always going for the reason of doing some sort of specific workout. 8 times a quarter with a 200 meter jog in between. 6 times a half with ...etc. Sometimes I'll do something similar on the trails I run on. I have a few trails that aren't measured exactly by distance by I can run portions of it at different speeds and know what kind of workout I'm getting. On the roads near my house, the same thing applies. I have certain sections that I'll time myself for certain intended workouts. This is all only for when I'm training to race. If I'm just maintaining fitness -- as I'm doing these days -- then I'll just run the roads and trails without timeing anything. Many of the runs I do when I am training to race are also just for mileage. I stay in the comfort zone to build strength and endurance, so I don't not need a lot of recovery between those types of runs. I know...that was more information then you were asking for. :talk: Unwanted Angel 06-09-2003, 10:20 PM I don't run but every morning at 6:00 i go out and walk around the block 2 times. Jem 06-09-2003, 10:28 PM I don't run usually unless I have to run laps in physed class. I do roller blade though sometimes. I should actually roller blade more often and make it my fitness program. I once got up early to roller blade in the morning on a Saturday around 9am to 10 am and I've been thinking of rollerblading more during the summer. *GoodMorningCalgary* 06-09-2003, 10:33 PM Originally posted by Swimfan85 when you run, wht do you do? do you go to a track and do a certain amount of laps or do you run around your block and time ur self? I just recentley started walking/jogging around the neigbourhood for about half an hour Titania 06-09-2003, 10:43 PM when i run its usually w/ a few friends. we do around my driveway, down the hill, around the block, up the hill to the school, around the school driveways, and back. Ewan's My Man 06-09-2003, 10:50 PM I had my mom map out a mile in our neighborhood on bike which has a thing that says how many miles she's riding. And then I run that. Ewan's My Man 06-09-2003, 10:51 PM oh yea, and i do time myself I Dream of Jeannie 06-09-2003, 10:52 PM When I run on my on I run laps and suicides. Usually with Basketball I run suicides and sprints. Softball, laps around the field and Softball suicides. If you don't know what a suicide is it's running from the wall of the gym to the foul line back to the out of bounds line, to the half court line, back to the out of bounds line, to the foul line on the other side of the court, back to the out of bounds line, and finally to the other out of bounds line back to the out of bounds line. We usually end up running 15 of those. Softball suicides are different, you run to first, then back to home, then to second, then back to home, then to third, then back to home, and finally to home, and then back to home. 10 of those are enough. Softball suicides are killer, B-ball suicides aren't as bad. I usually run around the court for 5 minutes or around the softball fence 3 times. (We have a BIG field, I mean BIG, we're talking major league long) Anyway, too much info I'm sure. lol. :p Brian 06-09-2003, 10:54 PM I run on a treadmill at a local YMCA. I usually jog a mile or a mile and a half. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 06-09-2003, 11:21 PM Me and running dont belong in the same sentence. *Marilyn Monroe* 06-09-2003, 11:49 PM Remember running the mile in elementary school? Well, I live 1/2 a block away from mine, so I remember that 4 laps equals a mile, and run that. Sometimes I time myself, sometimes I dont, and I run by myself, because it gives me lots of time to think. Janice 06-10-2003, 01:13 AM Originally posted by Kitt This is all only for when I'm training to race. If you ever decide to run the Boston Marathon, that 26 mile run to Heartbreak Hill, let me know. I'll be on the sidelines passing you water as you run by. ;) fr00ti 06-10-2003, 01:15 AM Run? Sorry I only run if Martina McBride is in front of me. ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 06-10-2003, 02:04 AM If I ever run, it's for school, although I do walk on the treadmill. I also jump on the trampoline for excercise a lot. When I run for school, it's either a basketball suicide (like maegan described) or around the track. I hate running so much. It's not because I can't, it just bores me to death. I can't really listen to music and run. That's why I like the trampoline. I can listen to music while I do that, and I can do more than just jump. I usually jump for 30 minutes when I do, which can be pretty tiring. But I love it. Crimson and Clover 06-10-2003, 02:18 AM i dont run. Cashodeen 06-10-2003, 03:01 AM The situation with running has irritated me to no end lately. I run on a treadmill I got a few months ago. It does not work properly. Nordic Track BETTER take this piece o junk back so I can get myself one that actually has a properly moving belt. Imagine, retailed for $1200 and it hasn't worked since day one! Brad Russ 06-10-2003, 04:07 AM I don't run much anymore, but I use to run around the track all the time. I tried running around the track again recently, but my legs buckled, and I fell flat on my face. I always hated running on the side of the road though because you'd always have some punk kid trying to impress his girlfriend by honking his horn, or yelling obscenities out at you. I also hated when some old idiot would yell Get Out Of The Road to you when you weren't even on the road. Now I pretty much just ride me bike everywhere I go. Brandon 06-10-2003, 07:28 AM I never run on a track or around my block, cuz people stare, and i don't like that kind of attention. i just work out with videos, safely in my room.:) *PinkLady* 06-10-2003, 02:41 PM I HATE running!!!! I don't do it anymore since I don't have gym, and I don't plan to unless my life is in grave danger or something. Kitt 06-10-2003, 02:51 PM Gosh, you all are going to be walking heart attacks if you don't get a better attitude about exercise. I think the drop off in money spent on physical education in pubic schools is paying enormous negative dividends. Staying fit is supposed to be a joy and a love for life, not a dreaded incomprehensible drudgery. *PinkLady* 06-10-2003, 02:54 PM Originally posted by Kitt Gosh, you all are going to be walking heart attacks if you don't get a better attitude about exercise. Montana Ponine 06-10-2003, 02:55 PM Like just five minutes ago I finished walking a mile and 3/4s on my treadmill. It took me 30 minutes. :p I think I'll do that every day during the summer as much as I possibly can to prevent myself from getting fat... Maybe I'll take my dog for a walk later. Montana Ponine 06-10-2003, 02:57 PM Oh and also, you get a lot more exercise than you realize walking around Disneyland all day. ;) Kitt 06-10-2003, 03:09 PM Originally posted by *~PinkLady59~* I get exercise without running, thank you. If you get your exercise walking on hills, that's good. I do that too, aside from runing. I'll walk to the store, for example, or wherever rather than drive. My point was that the teaching and incorporating the love of exercise or physical activity into our lives has been placed on the far back burner in our society. That's why billions are spent every year by people looking for that ultimate silver bullett diet regime. *PinkLady* 06-10-2003, 03:21 PM Originally posted by Kitt That's fine and I wasn't replying to only what you wrote. My point was that people might do other things than run (although as I look at the posts again, I guess it's not much of a point. ) *Pleasant Tomorrow* 06-10-2003, 03:52 PM I can't run lol. I seriously get so tired and I can't breath...actually recently in gym when running not even a mile my legs got all numb. Dunno, either it's a result of my complete laziness or there's something wrong with me. When i'm not in season, then I either go to the track, run around my neighborhood, or if i'm to lazy, I use the treadmill. Rockapella722 06-10-2003, 10:15 PM I run a certain route every time, which I guess is about 2 miles. I never time myself, though. |
