i do pointe....

its hard at first, you get blisters and it hurts, but its not impossible and w/ practice it gets easier.

but id say definitly go for it. its really the height of dance (no pun intended) ;)

My daughter danced pointe for a few years. She danced Ballet for a number of years before dancing pointe. It is difficult because it requires training muscles and ligaments to work in a way that is, abnormal, you might say. If you're currently dancing talk to your dance teacher or someone who could advise you about it. It would be well worth looking into, and then a great experience, if you decide to go for it. :)

Wooo let's not get Karly started on her Pointe experience...

I took it for a few months- I've danced for many years, so I believed I had the Ballet training for it. Well...I did. But it was so hard on my feet, even though I had strong ankles, that I decided not to finish the year. It was a few years ago though, so I think that in one or two years I might try it again, because my ankles have probably developed more since then.

Warning- your toes will bleed... just like Save the Last Dance. And, depending on how you treat your shoes, you'll go through a lot of pairs. I've always used Bloch ballet shoes, they've always lasted the longest for me.

I use Bloch and agree- they hold up well. Also keeping your toes wrapped in fresh gauze when they bleed will help. For me it got better after the first few months (maybe my feet got used to it?) and now i just get blisters/bleeding when i overdo it.

good luck and keep dancin

Gel pads are great for the bottom of the shoe, too

And as far as Bloch goes, when I get into Pointe in a year or two, I want Bloch Sonatas... ahhhhhh, those shoes are SO nice
