View Full Version : #51- "The Vision of Sugar Plums" and #56- "Samantha Meets The Folks"
LucyFan 05-10-2003, 04:26 PM Does anyone know if Nick at Nite aired these second season episodes: #51- "The Vision of Sugar Plums" and #56- "Samantha Meets The Folks"? I am curious to know because ironically there are two first season episodes with the the same title of these two episodes. Also, there is 254 episodes of Bewitched, right? Well, according to some episode guides (such as TV Land's) there are 252 episodes. When looking at TV Land's, I have noticed that they have left out episodes #51 and #56. Does anyone know why?
pandora_spocks 05-10-2003, 06:33 PM Like I said, they we remakes. I'm not exactly sure if Nick at Nite or even Hallmark showed them. There are only a few changes.
#51 - Is a recut version of # 15 except with a new opening.
#56 - Is a just a recut version of #14.
You can ask around on the Harpies Bizarre (http://www.harpiesbizarre.com/discussions.htm) board, I'm sure someone on there will know whether or not Nick at Nite has shown these versions.
Larry Tate 05-14-2003, 04:37 PM Nope # 51 & # 56 were never seen on N@N & haven't been seen in syndication in the last 15 years or so ,maybe longer, perhaps since the original showing.
Both had new Openings of about 1 1/2 min. & the rest of the episodes were exactly the same & as such is the reason most likely why N@N didn't show them.

LucyFan 05-14-2003, 08:58 PM Okay. Then actually, there is really 252 episodes (instead of 254), right?
Larry Tate 05-14-2003, 09:30 PM As SAM would say Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my view the two episodes are sufficiently different that they should be seen as unique into & of themselves ,so i would say there are 254 episodes in all.
You can just view them as the Mother of all Remakes ;)
Lawrence in his Tatedom
LucyFan 05-15-2003, 12:11 AM Well, if they are just about the same as episodes #14 and #15, then wouldn't watching episodes #51 and #56 seem like watching episodes #14 and #15 all over again?

Yeah, I guess but both had different openings. What does it matter. We've been blessed with 252 + 2 remakes. Be happy! :p
I still consider it 254 episodes though because it sounds better than 252.
Larry Tate 05-15-2003, 01:34 AM I suppose one might say that an addtional scene added would make it a new or at least unique episode ,they are not exactly alike,it depends on ones point of view but the additional footage of Liz & Bewitched is so Precious that in my view this would qualify them as unique & even new episodes.
So i would say 254 episodes of Feminine Pulchritude ;)

LucyFan 05-17-2003, 02:28 AM Have anyone of you seen TV Land's updated Bewitched site?
If so, did you notice that their episode guide of the show included episodes #51 and #56 which makes a grand total of 254 episodes? Anyways, I was kind of surprised because I didn't expect those two rare episodes to be included in their episode guide. Well, I guess it shows you that indeed the show has 254 episodes and not 252. I will definitely be going by TV Land's episode guide for Bewitched!
The number of "Bewitched" episodes are exactly 252 episodes. Those remakes are really NOT considered episodes. Just look at the episode production schedule direct from Screen Gems on www.bewitched.net. I have always known it to be 252 episodes and that was it is officially.
TV Guy 06-04-2003, 06:14 PM And they're not really "remakes", either. A remake is an episode that is entirely remade (several early episodes were remade with Dick Sargent, for example). The two episodes in question merely contain a minute or two of new footage. This was done quite a bit for network reruns of "I Love Lucy" -- a minute of introductory footage was added and then the characters flashed back to the original episode. Yet those repackaged episodes are not counted separately (and those reedited shows haven't been seen since the original broadcasts).
Just my opinion, though. Ultimately it's all the same thing, no matter how each person refers to it.
pandora_spocks 06-04-2003, 06:59 PM I still consider it 254 episodes though. Those extra two are still listed therefore I count them. I suppose it all depends on how you want to look at it and well I like to include those two.
